Maplestream woke and slid out of her den, the low morning light turning her orange patches gold.Maplestream padded over to the clan leader Houndstar."What patrol will I join?"Houndstar looked at her sadly, everyone looked at her that way since Sandfire left the clan with a group on a quest to find a better place.

"You will join Blueclaw and Sorrelfoot,"Houndstar said as the two warrior s padded over and they all ran into the marsh.Maplestream felt someone watching her and she looked around.Next to a clump of ferns a stary light sand colored shape moved.Then as quickly as it appeared it faded into a breeze.

Later Maplestream and her patrol padded into camp with fresh kill."Wow, great catch!"Came the mew of Amberkit a small kit.Maplestream smiled at him."Soon you will be catching prey."Amberkit looked up at her with a smile.

Amberkit padded away to find his brother Moonkit.Maplestream saw the stary cat pad behind him for a second, Maplestream held her breath and closed her eyes.When she opened them the stary cat was gone.

Maplestream padded over to the elders basking in the sun.Berryleaf looked up at her daughter.Berryleaf was Maplestream, Adderface, and Hareface's mother."Ah, my Maplestream how are you?"I could be better."Maplestream responded, her mother was one cat she could talk to, She always could talk to Sandfire but he was gone.

"Don't worry you will see him again."Berryleaf rasped her milky blue eyes focusing on her kit."I know but I miss him."Berryleaf gave a small, sad smile."I miss your father but I know I will see him one day."Maplestream smiled sadly then padded into her den and slept.
