"Mate," Manik spoke there was no sign of exhaustion on his face only eagerness.

Nandini who's shoulder was rudely pulled looked up to see the same brown eyes which haunted her dreams.

"What?" Nandini questioned. Before she could pull herself back Manik hugged her tightly with his wolf strength.

He inhaled her scent which smelled like lemons and fresh mint.

"You! Leave her." Inaya screamed seeing them like that. She tried to pull Manik away from Nandini but he didn't even budge. Seeing this Cabir mind linked the guards to evacuate everyone so that they could talk alone. Inaya was also dragged out by Navya telling it was for a reason.

The airport was emptied in just a few seconds.

"Finally." He whispered while Ray purred bringing Nandini back to reality.

Nandini used her wolf strength to push him back. Manik looked at her confused.

"Look, you have a major misunderstanding. I am not who you think." Nandini spoke with disbelief written on her face.

"But, you are my mat-"

"I am not your MATE ok. I can't be." She spoke cutting him off. She looked at him whose head was hung low.

He couldn't believe it. What did she just say?

Is this his punishment? For not going to her before.

"I- I am sorry Nandini. I know it's my fault that I didn't come to you all these years. But Please." He pleaded with his earnest voice but all he saw was confusion.

"What are you talking about?" Nandini whispered in a low tone.

"You- you are my mate?" He said it more like a question.

"Don't you feel it? Our connection." He said holding her hand.

She felt the warmth, the comfort of his hand, a sudden secure feeling overtook her for a moment before she pulled her hand away.

"No." She spoke as she moved away from him. Manik just stood there looking at her with a sense of loss.

"Wait, please. Don't leave me. I am sorry, really." He apologized continuously. Nandini sighed.

She went near him and stopped one step away.

"Don't apologize." She spoke.

I don't know what to say to him. Mate? But I am the chosen one and chosen ones don't have mates, right Ray?

Nandini asked.

*I am as shocked as you Nandini. I knew something was up but I never expected this.* Ray spoke as she felt the connection with Ryan.

"But I can't be your mate," Nandini spoke while Manik looked at her confused.

"Why can't you?" He asked while Nandini averted her eyes.

"It's just that I can't. Please leave me alone." She spoke while Manik looked at her with hurt written clearly in his eyes.

"Leave you alone?"

"Yes, please. I really-" She whispered almost inaudibly and left without another word leaving a grief-stricken Manik looking in the direction which she left.

Meanwhile, outside the airport.

Inaya was pacing from left to right looking at the airport exit.

"I don't understand why you dragged me out. If something happens to my Nandu, I swear to god, I will never leave you." She threatened Cabir while he rolled his eyes.

"You think you puny human will be able to hurt me." He scoffed while Inaya looked confused.

"If I am a puny human then what are you, a werewolf?"  Inaya scoffed while Cabir looked at her with wide eyes and Navya chocked on her saliva.

And Nandini arrived right on time cutting in.

"Nanz, my love. Are you ok?" She asked while Nandini just nodded her head.

Cabir came near Nandini.

"Luna." He said while Nandini shook her head.

"It's just a misunderstanding. I am not your luna. And we need to go."She spoke while Cabir mind linked Manik.

*Manik, what happened? Is she really not our luna?* He asked.

*She is the luna. Make sure she stays in our mansion. I need to talk to her again.* He spoke with a dull voice.

*Alright Manik. Just take care ok.* He said while Manik didn't respond.

*Navya, try and convince Nandini to stay at our place.* He said to Navya.

*Alright, I will try.* She said as she walked towards Nandini who was being interrogated by Inaya.

"Nanz why don't you stay at our place? I stayed at yours when I was in Casseopia it's my turn now." She spoke. Before Nandini could say no Cabir picked up their luggage.

"Wow, I didn't know that you helped Navya so much. Its only fair to return the favor." He spoke as he walked towards his car.

"Are the people here this weird?" Inaya asked while Nandini looked at them with a blank expression.

"You will get used to it," Navya said as she dragged them both towards the car.

It was almost evening when Manik returned to the mansion.

"You are here," Navya spoke from the sofa while Nandini raised her head to look.

Their eyes met for a brief second before Nandini averted her eyes.

Manik's heart sank again.  He took a step towards her when he saw her close her eyes tightly.

He felt as if someone burned his heart, quite painfully.

"I will be in my room." He said and left without another word.

Nandini felt uncomfortable all of a sudden that she excused herself and went outside.

Why is it so uncomfortable to see him like that? Is it really possible that he is my mate?

*I don't know Nandini. But I felt the connection between us.* Ray said being ashamed as she couldn't help her in any way.

Moon Goddess, please help me. I don't know what to do.

She thought as she looked up at the moon which was bright and gave a calm feeling.

She spent her time there for a few minutes before going inside, unknown to her that someone was watching her.

Moon Goddess, please help me. Tell what I should do so that she will accept me.

He looked at the same moon and pleaded.

He felt so regretful, why didn't he go when he found her that day?

Nothing was more important than her to him. He understood that now.

And he wasn't going to give up on her, Not in the present nor in the future.
