MALEFICENT WAS CRUEL. That was the tale they told. She was made of war and her children were an act of love. They mend what she tore apart. Her patchwork skin stitched together by their patchwork pieces. She would fight for them, she would die for them again and again and again. Tear herself to ashes if only to fall between their fingertips. Her wounds are jagged—like broken glass—and they kiss them. Only when they rise does she see the blood on her hands and the blood in their mouth. She is made of war and her children were an act of love. But what makes war if not love?

Maleficent was human. She wasn't poetry. She wasn't made of beautiful words that rolled off the tongue. Her smile wasn't as bright as the sun and her eyes didn't hold the fucking stars. She was none of those things. She was real. She was flawed. She was raw. She said what was on her mind and in her heart. Yes, some days the world felt heavy and dark and hopeless, but she wiped away her tears, picked up the jagged pieces, and carried on; because long ago she realized no one would be there to wrap their arms around her shoulders, to kiss her wounds, to ease her shaky breaths every time her heart was held by hands who didn't know how to care for such a treasure. No one, but her. She was her own savior, her own lover. And she planned to teach her children how to be the same.

Or in which Maleficent was a dragon in disguise who taught her young about war and loves terrible lies.

welcome to the rewrite of maleficent the mother! as you all probably know, there are going to be a lot of changes to this story. especially when it comes to the relationship between klaus and enola. I know a lot of you liked their dynamic, but i couldn't help but think their relationship was really toxic. so i am going to try to fix that with the rewrite and it will hopefully come out a lot better. as a lot of you know, my original book for maleficent the mother was deleted off of wattpad, so i am going to try this again. hopefully, it will all work out in the end!
