Chapter 2
A few weeks after the results on a Saturday, Nami was working at the flower shop when she heard a cough. She looked back to see a boy with half-white and half-red hair, two different color eyes, grey and blue, and a noticeable scar on the blue eye side.
"Shoto," Nami greeted in surprise as she stood up. Shoto Todoroki was Endeavor's youngest son. Nami saw Shoto a couple of times a year due to the fact her dad works for his dad. "What are you doing here?"
"I heard from Fuyumi that you got into UA," Shoto answered.
Nami nodded. "Are you going as well?" He nodded. "Let me guess, hero course?"
"I want to be like him," Shoto answered as he studied the flowers. "All Might." Shoto began to help Nami at the flower shop as they caught up a bit.
"Shoto?" Mom asked as she came into the shop; she had been out with her sister. "Oh, Shoto! Great to see you!" He nodded. "Would you like to stay for dinner? If I recall you like, soba?"
"Thank you," Shoto nodded.

A few months passed, and Nami spent a lot of her time doing more training with Hitoshi, at the flower shop and focusing on her studies; Hitoshi was at the register as Nami was fixing the bouquets.
"I did more research on Eraserhead," Hitoshi said after the customer left.
"He's pretty cool!" Nami said as she spun to look at him. "Just so cool!"
"He likes cats," Hitoshi said.
"Ah!" Nami exclaimed. "You should definitely look up to him!"
"Because we both like cats?" Hitoshi asked as he looked at her.
"Well, yeah!" Nami confirmed. "Cat lovers are bound together forever!" Hitoshi rolled his eyes as a customer stepped up.

The strangest in the new chapter of Nami's life was Shoto. She was currently at a tea place as the two did homework together. Dad was beyond happy that the two were trying to have a friendship.
"Nami," Shoto began as he looked up; she glanced his way. " At UA, you will probably be my only friend; I have no intentions of creating bonds with the others."
"Don't count on that completely," Nami advised. "The future holds many possibilities." Shoto looked at her. "Your dad isn't much of a friend-making person either...maybe you should consider friendships with others."
*****
April came around, it was time for Nami to start her first day at UA High. She had spent a lot of time keeping up her training with Hitoshi, at the flower shop and focusing on her studies. She even talked to Shoto more.
Nami was one of the 300 hundred students that had gotten accepted into UA; she was now in the hallway trying to find class 1-A with Shotot.
"It should just be down the hall a more," Shoto said as he looked at the map.
"The doors here are so big," Nami noted as they passed by other rooms. "Ah, here we are." Shoto opened the door before Nami could stare at it anymore. There were only there was already quite a few in the classroom. Shoto went all the way to the back where there was only one seat while Nami took a seat third from the front.
"This is sort of exciting, don't you think?" a girl in front asked; the girl had dark purplish hair; had ear jacks hanging down.
"Nerve-wracking too," Nami added. "Nami Takeda."
"Kyoka Jiro," the girl greeted.
There was a loud thud, sitting next to Jiro was the boy from the exams.
"You again."
"Huh?" Bakugo asked looking back; he put a foot on top of his desk. "Just my luck to get stuck in a class with you star girl."
"The feeling is ditto," Nami shot back. "I do wonder, how did a gremlin get accepted?"
"This gremlin has power," Bakugo answered as he pointed at himself. "Something you wish you had."
"Take your feet off of that desk right now!" a boy demanded as he marched over; it was the examine guy who called out Deku.
"Huh?" Bakugo smiled looking forward.
"It's the first day and you're already disrespecting this academy by scruffing school property, you cretin!" the boy scolded.
"You're kidding me, right?" Bakugo taunted. "You old school put a stick up your ass? Or were you born with it?"
The other boy stammered; putting a hand over his chest. "Let's start over. I'm Tenya Iida from the Somei Private Academy."
"Somei, huh?" Bakugo asked. "So you must think you're better than me. I'm gonna have fun tearin' you a new one."
Iida gasped. "You would threaten me? Your own classmate? Are you sure you are in the right place?"
Bakugo looked away. "Ha!" They both looked at the door, Nami looked over to see Deku seemed nervous to come in.
"It's him," Iida said as he corrected his posture. Everyone looked at the door.
"Uh, hi!" Deku panicked.
"Good morning!" Iida greeted as he marched over. "My name is Tenya Iida fro--"
"Yeah, I-I know," Deku interrupted. "I'm Izuku Midoriya. It's super nice to meet you."
"Midoriya," Iida repeated. "You realized that there was something more to the practical exam, didn't you?" Deku seemed taken back. "You must be perceptive. And I completely misjudged you, I admit. As a student, you're far superior to me."
"Hey!" a girl greeted Deku as she stepped into the class. "I recognize that messed-up hair! Falling boy!" Nami looked back to see that Shoto could care less about what was going on in front of the class.
"Oh, hey, hi!" Deku greeted as he turned red. "Oh my gosh! So, uh, I should probably be thanking you for going in and talking to him."
"Huh?" Urakaka asked. "How'd you know about that?"
"Oh, I--Um--What?" Deku stammered.
"What do you think we're doing today besides orientation?" the girl asked. "I wonder what our teachers are like. I can't wait to meet everybody!"
"If you're just here to make friends then you can pack up your stuff now," a voice said; they all looked to see a man in a yellow sleeping bag at the door. "Welcome to UA's Hero course." The bag unzipped and the man sipped on something.
All gasped. 'What is that thing?'
The man got to his feet; leaving his sleeping back. "It took eight seconds before you all shut up. That's not gonna work. Time is precious. Rational students would understand that." The man looked completely worn out and wore a scarf around his neck. He turned to the rest of the class. "Hello. I'm Shota Aizawa. Your teacher." The students gasped. "Right let's get to it." He pulled a uniform out of his sleeping back. "Put these on and head outside." They all did as they were told; Nami stood by Shoto
"What? A Quirk assessment test?" the students asked.
"What about orientation?" Nami asked.
"We're gonna miss it!" Urakaka added.
"If you really wanna make the big leagues, you can't waste time on pointless ceremonies," Mr. Aizawa explained; making the students gasp. "Here at UA, we're not tethered to traditions." He looked back at them. "That means I get to run my class however I see fit." He turned to them completely. "You've been taking standardized tests most of your lives. But you never got to use your Quirks in physical exams before." He held up a device with a list of activities they were doing. "The country's still trying to pretend we're all created equal by not letting those with the most power excel. It's not rational. One day, the Ministry of Education will learn. Bakugo, you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam." They all looked at him. "What was your farthest distance throw with a softball when you were in Junior High?"
"Sixty-seven meters, I think," Bakugo answered.
"Right," Aizawa said. "Try it with your Quirk." Bakugo took the ball going over to the throwing range. "Anything goes, just stay in the circle. Go on. You're wasting our time."
Bakugo began to stretch. "All right, man, you asked for it." He then launched the ball. "DIE!"
"Die?" Nami repeated as the ball got skyrocketed from the explosion.
"Oh, whoa," Deku breathed.
"All of you need to know your maximum capabilities," Aizawa instructed as the ball dropped. "It's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a pro hero." Everyone gasped when they saw the device.
"Whoa!" Kaminari gasped. "705 meters, are you kidding me?"
"I wanna go!" Ashido chimed. "That looks like fun!"
"This is what I'm talking about usin' our Quirks as much as we want!" Sero cheered.
"So this looks fun, huh?" Aizawa asked. "You have three years here to become a pro hero. You think it's all gonna be games and playtime?" He smirked a little. "Idiots. Today you'll compete in eight physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever comes in last has none, and will be expelled immediately."
"Huh?" Everyone gasped more.
"Like I said, I get to decide how this class runs," Aizawa reminded them; he pushed his hair back. "Understand? If that's a problem, you can head home right now."
"You can't send one of us home!" Urakaka protested. "I mean, we just got here! Even if it wasn't the first day, that isn't fair!
"Oh, and you think natural disasters are?" Aizawa asked. "Or power-hungry villains? Hm? Or catastrophic accidents that wipe out whole cities? No, the world is full of unfairness. It's a hero's job to combat that unfairness. If your want to be a pro, you're gonna have to push yourself to the brink. For the next three years, UA will throw one terrible hardship after another at you. So, go beyond. Plus Ultra-style." With a finger, he urged them to step forward. "Show me it's no mistake that you're here." Everyone became more determined. "Now then, we're just wasting time by talking. Let the games begin."
Test 1: 50-meter-dash
Measure Device: Runners, on your marks. Ready--" It was Iida and Asui; the frog girl; at the sound of the gunshot, the two took off; Iida crossed the line first. "3.04 seconds" Asui then crossed the line. "5.58 seconds."
"We'll he's definitely in his element," Aizawa acknowledged. "But speed won't help him in every test."
Next was Urakaka and Ojiro; the boy with a muscle tail.
"I'll lighten up my clothes," Urakaka said as she touched her shirt. "Oh, and my shoes, too!"
Ojiro crossed first. "5.49 seconds." Then Urakaka. "7.15 seconds."
Next was Ashido and Aoyama.
"Nice attempts, mon amis," Aoyama said as he turned around. "But you're just not showing enough panache!" He used his navel laser. "Let your powers shine!" Ashido crossed the line due to the laser giving out a couple of times.
"5.51 seconds."
Aoyama looked at the class. "Hm. Shooting my beautiful beam for more than my second hurts my tummy."
'What a tool,' Sero, Kirishima, Kaminari, Ashido, Aizawa, and Nami thought.
Nami went up against Jiro; the girl sitting in front of her in class.
"Runners, take your mark!" the girls got in position; then a gunshot went off, and the two started running; she activated her quirk shooting stellar energy out of her feet; pushing her to go fast. " 5.01 seconds!" Jiro then crossed the line. "5.32 seconds."
Next up was Bakugo and Deku; the two began running at the sound.
"Burst Speed!" Bakugo shouted as he put his hands behind him. He jumped up letting his explosions shoot him across the finish line.
"4.13 seconds." Deku then crossed the line. "7.02 seconds." Deku leaned over panting.
"My power has more uses than anyone else's in this school," Bakugo said as his hands smoked.
Test 2 - Grip Strength
Nami looked at her number. 70kg
"Hm," Shoto breathed looking at hers, she looked over at his number...79kg
"Wow!" Sero exclaimed; they looked over. "You hit 540 kilograms? You're a beast!"
"Yeah, like muscle-y, octopus," Mineta added.
Test 3 - Standing Long Jump
A lot of classmates passed the sand; while some landed on it.
Test 4 - Repeated Side steps
Mineta was especially good at it; bouncing between the purple bouncy balls from his head.
Test 5 - Ball Throw
Nami threw the ball adding her quirk to it.
"Oh nice," Sero complimented; it went 600.7 feet. Next up was Urakaka; she gave it a good throw. They all watched it continue to rise into the air.
"Infinity!" Everyone gasped.
"Amazing!" Nami complimented.
"That's insane!" Kaminari commented. "How's that impossible?" Deku stepped up to take his turn.
"If Midoriya doesn't shape up soon, he's the one going home," Iida noted.
"Huh?" Bakugo asked looking at him. "Of course, he is. He's a Quirkless loser."
"He has a Quirk," Iida informed. "Did you not hear about what he did in the entrance exam?"
"Then why hasn't he used it?" Nami asked looking up at him.
"Possibly he was saving it," Urakaka answered. "Didn't have a very good reaction on his body." Izuku took his throw, but the ball didn't go very fall.
"46 meters."
"Uh...What gives?" Deku asked as he looked at his hand. "I was trying to use it just now."
"I erased your quirk," Aizawa said as he began to use his scarf; his hair was in the hair. "The judges for this exam were not rational enough. Someone like you should never be allowed to enroll at this school. "
"Wait, you did what to my..." Deku began, and he suddenly gasped. "Ah! Those goggles. I know you! You can look at someone and cancel out their powers. The Erasure Hero. Eraser Head!" Nami gasped; her teacher was the hero who she pushed Hitoshi to look to for inspiration.
"Eraser?" Sero asked. "Who's that?
"Oh, I've heard of him," Tsu said. "I think he works on the down-low." Aizawa used his scarf to capture Deku, pulling him close.
"What do you think they are talking about?" Shoto asked.
"More importantly; what's up with the scarf?" Nami asked.
"You think that's more important?" Shoto asked looking down at her.
"Each thing has its own level of importance," Nami responded looking up at him. The students gasped when Aizawa released Izuku, and then walked away.
"I wonder if our teacher gave him some advice," Iida said with his thumb under his chin.
"Probably told him to start packing," Bakugo concluded.
"I'm here, cheri," Aoyama said as he put a hand on Urakaka.
Urakaka grew confused. "Wait, who are you, again?" Everyone watched intensely as Izuku took his throw; putting the power into the tip of his finger.
"That must be what Urakaka meant by a bad reaction," Nami said. "Broken finger."
"Hm?" Shoto asked as he lowered his head to get a better look.
The ball dropped landing at 705.3 meters. Izuku looked back at Mr. Aizawa; the teacher was impressed.
"He threw it over 700 meters!" Kaminari exclaimed.
"Amazing," Nami commented.
"He's finally showing us his true power!" Urakaka cheered with both hands in the air.
"But his finger appears to be broken now," Iida noted. "Just like in the exam. This Quirk is very odd."
"It wasn't a very pretty throw," Aoyama critiqued. Bakugo on the other hand was in complete shock from what he just saw. His hand started to spark; he charged toward Deku.
"HEY!" Bakugo shouted. "DEKU, YOU BASTARD! TELL ME HOW YOU DID THAT OR YOU'RE DEAD!" Deku started screaming in complete fear. Aizawa's scarf shot capturing Bakugo; restraining him. "What?" He looked back at their teacher. "Why the hell is your damn scarf so strong?"
"Because it's a capture weapon made out of carbon fiber and a special metal alloy," Aizawa explained. "Stand down. It'd be wise to avoid making me use my Quirk so much. It gives me serious dry eye."
" Too bad. That power is amazing!" all the students said.
Aizawa deactivated his quirk, freeing Bakugo. "You're wasting my time now. Whoever's next can step up." Izuku carefully got away from Bakugo.
"Ouch, is your finger okay?" Urakaka asked.
"Sure, fine!" Izuku assured.
After the softball throw; they continued on with sit-ups, seated toe touch, and long-distance run. Soon everyone gathered around to look at their results.
"All right, time to give you your results," Aizawa informed. "I've ranked you all from best to worst. You should probably have a good idea of your standing already." He pulled out his device. "I'll just pull up the whole list. It's not worth going over each individual's score." With a click of a button; there was a projection of where everyone was ranked.
1. Momo Yaoyorozu
2. Shoto Todoroki
3. Katsuki Bakugo
4. Nami Takeda
5. Tenya Iida
6. Fumikage Tokoyami
7. Mezo Shoji
8. Mashirao Ojiro
9. Eijiro Kirshima
10. Mina Ashido
11. Ochaco Urakaka
12. Koji Koda
13. Rikido Sato
14. Tsuyu Asui
15. Yuga Aoyama
16. Hanto Sero
17. Denki Kaminari
18. Kyoka Jiro
19. Toru Hagakure
20. Minoru Mineta
21. Izuku Midoriya
Aizawa clicked the device again, removing the chart. "And I was lying, no one's going home." Everyone stared blankly and in shock beside Momo. "That was just a rational deception to make sure you gave it your all in the tests." The group all yelped.
"I'm surprised the rest of you didn't figure that out," Yaoyorozu said. "I'm sorry. I guess I probably should have said something."
'Yeah, you should have,' Jiro, Mineta, Kaminari, and Nami thought.
"That was pretty nerve-wracking, huh?" Sero asked, turning to Kirshima.
"Nah, I'm always down for a challenge," Kirishima smiled.
"That's it," Aizawa confirmed. "We're done for the day." He started to walk away. "Pick up a syllabus in the classroom. Read it over before tomorrow morning. Midoriya...Take this and go have the old lady fix you up. Things are gonna be tougher tomorrow when your actual training begins. Make sure you're prepared." The school day was now over; everyone was making their way home.
"You seemed disappointed with your placement," Jiro said to Nami. "You placed pretty high."
"I'm happy with my placement," Nami assured. "I just seem to fall short of Todoroki all the time; and now that gremlin child up there as well."
"I can see how that can be frustrating," Jiro said as she glanced over. "What do you think the teacher's approach to class?"
"Hm," Nami sounded. "It was...unique...I guess I can see why he did it."
"I just wish Yaoyorozu would've said something," Jiro said as she pulled out her phone. "What sort of music do you listen to?"
"Hm?" Nami asked as she looked over, she put a thumb under her chin. "Oh...I'm a fan of Latin pop, Hip-hop, and jazz. You?"
"I'm more of a rock fan," Jiro answered as she looked up. "I can recommend some to you."
"Oh, that'll be great," Nami smiled. "Thanks!" They got to the gates; Nami saw that Shoto was waiting for her; Nami then checked her phone to see a text from Hitoshi.
'Meet you at the station in an hour.'
"I can give you a list tomorrow," Jiro said. "See you both tomorrow."
"See you," Nami said as she walked in a different direction with Shoto.
"You heard Mr. Aizawa, you shouldn't be here to just make friends," Shoto advised.
"Everyone charts their own path," Nami defended herself as she put her hands up. "Making friends can help with future team-ups when we become heroes. It's important to team up with someone you can get along with."
"Sure," Shoto breathed. "What were the two of you talking about?"
"Music," Nami answered. "She's going to give me some rock musicians to listen to tomorrow." He looked at her. "Did you catch on to the rational deception?"
"Toward the end," Shoto answered.
Nami lowered her head. "That's probably part of the reason you got second."
He smiled a little. "Let's stop and get Soba."
"Soba?" Nami repeated looking up at him. "Uh, sure... you're paying."
"Sure," Shoto agreed as he pulled out his phone. "There should be a shop near the station." After getting soba with Shoto; Nami found herself waiting at the station.
"Nami!" She looked to see Hitoshi running up to her. "I hope I made you wait long!"
Nami got to her feet. "Jerk!" He started laughing; her eyes went wide as her mouth opened a bit.
"The hero course that cool?" Hitoshi asked.
"My teacher!" Nami exclaimed as she put her hands on her face. "You'd never guess who?" He stared at her. "Eraserhead!" She grabbed his arms and began to shake him back and forth. "This is fate! Soon enough you'll be mentoring under him! And then bam! Step closer to being heroes together!"
"Nami, should we get going?" Hitoshi asked as he put his hands on her shoulders; mainly trying to get him to stop shaking her.
"Yeah!" Nami responded; she was brainwashed till they got off the train on their side of town.
