Chapter 2, I Don't Know
I really don't know what happened. I knew I wasn't like a normal human. Andrew and Mrs. Joy were really nice about it though. Andrew decided to take me to restaurant, which sounded good. Mrs. Joy drove the car again. I hoped dinner would be good. When we got to the restaurant, we took a table next to a window. Everyone looked at me funny. Was it my clothes? I had a white shirt on with jeans. No, that couldn't be it. Oh. It must be my green pearl earrings or my blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. I sat next to Andrew. "What do you want to eat?" Mrs. Joy asked. I looked at the menu. There was no cinnamon crackers. I decided to try steak and french fries. Mrs. Joy told someone in a fancy uniform that we wanted water to drink. "Who's that?" I asked Andrew. They explained restaurants to me.
When the food came, I freaked out. "This meat!" I cried. Andrew looked at me funny. "Yeah. So what? We eat meat," Andrew replied. I picked up the knife and the fork. I picked at it for a moments before Andrew showed me how to eat steak. Everyone was staring at us my then. Then, the waiter fell over. "Are you okay?" Mrs. Joy asked, helping him up. "Yeah, I think so," he said, "Where did all this water come from?" Mrs. Joy looked at the floor. She glanced at me and said, "I don't know." A few minutes later, someone was mopping the floor. Mrs. Joy looked at me worried while we finished our dinner.
When we drove home, Mrs. Joy started asking questions. "Cinnamon, what do you remember before you met us?" she asked. "I don't remember anything but my name started with a C," I replied. "You must remember the alphabet, how to read, and how to count because you read numbers on the menu," Mrs. Joy said, "You have powers, and normal humans don't. Do think you are from the planet that crashed into ours?" Andrew looked at her. "Mom, do you really think that?" Andrew asked. "Yes," Mrs. Joy replied, "Cinnamon looks like the girl in the picture we found near where our planet crashed into the other one." "Let's go take her to see it then," Andrew said.
Mrs. Joy turned the car around and started driving towards the Space Studies Museum. Mrs. Joy parked the car in the parking lot and we left to go see the picture. Mrs. Joy paid for us to go in. The man who let us in looked at me funny. We walked in and looked at the other objects before we went to the picture. When we got to the picture I stared at it. It was me with a man and a woman that looked like me. Then, I blanked out.
-flashback-
"Callie, do you want to eat at Mara's Café?" the woman asked. "Sure," I said. The man led the way. "Sir-" I began. "Callie, we are your parents. Why are you calling you father sir?" my mom said. "Oh, sorry. I was daydreaming," I lied. We went in the Café. The waiter came to us. "Our normal please," said my dad. The waiter smiled and everything appeared on the table. "It's just the way you like it," she said, "Enjoy!" There was no meat to be found. I ate like I had never eaten before. "Callie, slow down. You don't want to get a belly ache," my mom said. I smiled and slowed down. Nobody even looked at us. Then, the world started to shake. "Get out of here Callie!" my dad yelled. I got up and ran for the exit just as the building began to collapse. I got out just in time. My parents didn't though. "Mom! Dad!" I yelled, tearing beginning to form. Just then, I was being shook.
-end of flashback-
I opened my eyes and Andrew was shaking me. I was sitting on the ground. Two security guards were near us. "Is she okay?" asked one. I nodded. They left. Mrs. Joy looked at me. "Cinnamon, what happened?" she asked. I told her everything. "This is a picture of you then," she said. I started to cry again. "My parents are dead!" I cried. "We'll take care of you then. My husband will happy to make a room for you in our house," Mrs. Joy said.
