An Easter Special

An Easter Special

I had always promised myself that when I was an adult (physically, because we all know that I have the maturity of a twelve year old), I would give my children the best childhood they would ever have.

That meant stuffing their stockings with candy and little things during Christmas.

Helping them carve pumpkins and making sure they were able to go trick-or-treating during Halloween, while George and I stayed inside.

I was most worried during Halloween for my children. Sometimes I had nightmares the days before the holiday that Voldemort would make his way to the door. But that wasn't possible.

And then there was Easter.

I would put little Hershey kisses in plastic eggs, and hide them around the house. An Easter Egg Hunt was the highlight of the kids day on Easter, along with finding out what was in their Easter baskets. We would dye eggs as well.

Currently, my two children were laying on the couches, asleep, tired from the egg hunt. It was only ten in the morning, and George found it hilarious.

"You know, I never really understood why you put so much effort into holidays. You never really tell anybody, but according to Ginny, you and Harry make everything perfect," George stated as he wrapped his arms around my stomach from behind.

"Because," I said as I frosted the vanilla bunny-shaped cake that was for dessert that night. "Harry and I didn't have this sort of stuff when we were younger. We grew up in an environment where we weren't cared for, and never got to experience all the fun and joy of holidays."

As I finished the frosting, George took a swipe of it from the spoon that was in the frosting container.

"I'm just... I'm scared." I began as I wiggled out of my husbands arms and put the cake in the fridge. I soon came back to him and hugged him; he hugged me back.

"I always have this fear... And it always starts around Halloween time... That Voldemort is going to come to our doorstep and do what he did to my parents and what he did to Harry and I. I don't want to have my kids have a childhood like I did," I finished, wiping a tear away.

"You don't have to worry. You don't have to be scared, Maddie," George whispered into my ear. "He's gone. Forever. And I will be here, always, and stay by your side. I will never, ever leave."

I smiled, and through my tears, I kissed him on the lips.

"I love you," I told George.

"I love you too," George told me.

It was my luck that it was me and George's turn to host Easter dinner this year, so I had been preparing for the past two days with the help of George and the kids.

"Madison, you need to sleep," George told me. "You've been up for what seems to be two days straight."

"But I just want to make everything perfect, and.. And..." I stressed.

"Mommy! You need sleep!" Harper, my four year old daughter exclaimed, agreeing with her father.

"Momma! Sweep!" Austin, my two year old son (he turned two three weeks ago), gurgled.

Huh. Gurgled is a really weird word.

"Yeah, mommy! Sleep!" George teased me. I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Fine. But don't eat all of your candy! You can't have too many Sour Patch Kids at once!" I said, looking at Harper specifically.

I trudged up the stairs and found myself plopping down on the bed George and I shared.

I went into a deep sleep.

When I awoke later, I heard a lot of voices coming from down stairs. People were here. I wasn't even dressed yet!

Quickly, I showered, dried my red hair and put on a little natural make-up. I put on some jeans and a sweater, as it was still cold for some reason. Not even bothering to put any shoes over my white Hanes socks, I found myself going downstairs, carrying three colorful plastic Easter Eggs in my hands.

"Okay, Weasley-Potter-Lupins!" I yelled out, hiding the three eggs behind my back with a smile. "Where is Teddy, Victorie and Jordan?"

As soon as I said the three names, three kids scurried up to me.

Teddy Lupin, the son of Remus and Tonks, with his bright blue hair and wide brown eyes raced over to me as I kneeled down.

Victorie Weasley, the daughter of Bill and Fleur, raced over to me too, her blonde hair flying behind her, her blue eyes wide with excitement.

And then little Jordan, who ran-walked over to me. Jordan was the son of Fred and Angelina, and had bright red hair and tan skin with dark brown eyes.

I took the Easter eggs out from behind my back.

"One for each of you," I told them, giving them each an egg.

The three opened there's and yelled out in happiness.

"Harry! Ginny!" Teddy yelled as he ran over to my brother and his wife. "Auntie Madison and Uncle George got me my own set of puking pastels! And wet-start fireworks!

"Oh, wonderful," Ginny said, looking at me with a sudden look of annoyance. "Just what the baby is going to need when it comes in six months."

Everything was silent. Victorie broke it.

"Mummy! Daddy! Auntie Madison and Uncle George got me puking pastels and a pair of fireworks too!"

Fleur gave me a look of annoyance as well.

"Ginny, we are in ze zame boat. Our little baby will not be needing zis in six months."

More silence. Jordan broke it.

"They got me fireworks and puking pastels too!"

Angelina gave me a look similar to Ginny and Fleur's.

"I've always wanted to have a baby wake up to fire works, and now in six and a half months, that will be happening!" Angelina sarcastically stated.

Silence.

"Mommy! Uncle Harry gave us all wet-start fireworks!" Harper came and told me.

My older twin brother gave me a sheepish look.

I marched up to him.

"I will make sure they use them in your backyard within the next six months, because I swear to God, I will make sure my unborn child will not wake up in the middle of the night or whenever in six months."

There was more silence.

"Wait, are we all pregnant?" Angelina randomly said.

"Yes," Audrey randomly stated. "Percy and I are expecting in six months."

Audrey was Percy's wife, and she was really good for him. She got him to relax and not be such an uptight loser.

"I get to make more Weasley Sweaters! Yay!" Molly Weasley exclaimed.

Happy Easter!
