"Come on Finn!" Lydia yelled before sprinting down towards the bush that led to the lake.
"I'm coming!" Finn yelled running after Lydia, struggling to catch up. "Why are we going to the lake again Lyds?" He asked still grasping for a breath as Lydia giggled before raising her finger to her mouth.
"It's a secret," she smirked before grabbing Finn's hand and leading him under the bush.
The night was cold and windy and it made goosebumps rise on Finn's arms. His hoodie hung loosely over his body as he titled his head still running after Lydia to look at the stars.
The stars were bright as they twinkled in the night sky. They were like white feathers in the midst of a dark blue sea.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Lydia stopped to look up to where Finn had his eyes trained.
"Yeah," Finn whispered still amazed by a sight he saw every night.
"I have a surprise though," Lydia smiled before tugging Finn's hand away and through the bushes.
"Am I going to like this surprise?" Finn asked making Lydia scoff.
"Who doesn't like surprises?"
"Me, I don't." Finn answered. Lydia rolled her eyes before speaking.
"You'll like this one." Lydia stopped and turned to Finn. "I promise."
"Whatever you say," Finn sang still not convinced.
"Why are you even giving me a surprise?" Finn asked wondering why Lydia was so obsessed with surprises.
"Because today is a special day and it deserves a surprise. Now can you just shut up and let me make sure it's all ready." Lydia snapped making Finn's eyes widen and his mouth shut.
"Thank you," Lydia grinned before turning Finn around and whispering that she'd be right back.
Finn nodded his head and crossed his arms. And before he knew it, Lydia was standing right beside him again like she promised.
"Okay, you can turn around now." Lydia grinned while turning her body with Finn towards the lake.
But when Finn turned around it wasn't just a lake glimmering under the moon's light. No, millions of light bulbs hung from dozens of strings tied to trees and rocks making the water sparkle and the air feel like pure bliss.
"Woah," Finn was speechless and the fact that Lydia took the time to sit outside and hang each light bulb up made Finn's mouth drop even further towards the ground.
"You like it?" Lydia asked making Finn finally turn his gaze away from the shimmering light.
"Yeah," was all Finn could say before he turned back towards the lights that just made everything glow and made Finn feel like he was in the middle of Wonderland.
"Happy birthday Finn," Lydia smiled.
And in that moment, Finn felt like he could do anything.

"Lydia, where are you taking me?" Finn asked with a small laugh as Lydia gripped his hand leading him outside the house.
"Oh, you know where." Lydia scoffed leading Finn towards the bush that led to the lake.
"Why are we going back here? We just went here like a week ago." Finn asked wondering what was so important to come back to the small clearing.
"I have a surprise." Finn sighed as Lydia led him behind the bush so that he was standing directly in front of the water.
"I told you Lydia you didn't have to do anything, it's just a day." Finn sighed again knowing he'd never get Lydia to stop trying to make him happy. Because Lydia was stubborn and she never gave up.
"It's not just any day. It's your birthday. And birthdays are meant to be celebrated." Lydia smiled still holding on to Finn's hand as she led him behind trees and down a small dirt path.
"If we're not going to the clearing then where are we going?" Finn asked still confused as to why they were still walking.
"Because I came back here a few days ago and I found something that I knew you would want to see." Lydia stated without making eye contact with Finn.
"Why do you always have a surprise for me?" Finn asked remembering every single surprise Lydia had given him in the past months.
"Because you love surprises." Lydia giggled knowing what Finn would say next.
"When have I ever loved surprises?" Finn asked knowing that he had not once in his life loved surprises.
"Never," Lydia paused for a minute before answering with a sheepish smile.
"Exactly!" Finn practically screeched making Lydia laugh even harder.
"Well we're almost there anyway so it doesn't matter." Lydia assured Finn making his lips flatten into a thin line, getting a sense of deja vue.
"You said the same thing when you took me to the dog shelter." Finn narrowed his eyes as Lydia smirked.
"Because whenever we go some where it's usually close by." Lydia fired back making Finn frown.
"But why don't we not go anywhere and you can just let me sit at home and wallow in my misery, because that sounds like a lot more fun than coming out where there are bees and mosquitos ready to bite my head off." Finn frowned not really caring if a bee stung him, but trying desperately to think of a reason to go home at the same time.
"There's a bee out here?!" Lydia screeched before jumping slightly into Finn.
"Yeah, what did you expect? We're in the middle of the woods." Finn scoffed shaking his head.
"I didn't know there would be bees out here." Lydia yelped jumping back as a butterfly flew by her.
"Oh my god this is sad, I'm going back home." Finn turned to leave before Lydia grabbed his hand.
"No, even if I have to get over my fear of bees we're still going." Lydia shot back before grabbing Finn's hand and walking further into the woods.
"Going where though?" Finn asked again knowing Lydia still wouldn't tell him.
"You'll see."
"Dammit." Finn whispered making Lydia giggle.
"You almost got me Finn Owen," Lydia spoke with a hint of amusement in her voice.
"mmhm, I doubt that." Finn hummed as he followed Lydia.
"Well we're here anyway so you can stop complaining." Lydia stepped in front of a large tree to which Finn followed making his eyes widen and his mouth drop in awe.
"Why did you bring me here?" Finn asked still not seeing the point in coming back to the lake for the umpteenth time that month.
"Turn around and you'll see." Finn turned towards the lake only to see the water shimmering like it normally did and a blanket laid out across the grass.
"How did you find this?" Finn asked in awe as he looked up and saw a beautiful, glimmering blue waterfall. The water rushed towards the ground and sprayed through the air as it hit the lake below.
"You just have to walk further up the lake to find it." Lydia stated with a proud smile.
"So the blanket?" Finn averted his eyes finally from the water to the cloth laid across the ground.
"We're going have a picnic," Lydia giggled making Finn roll his eyes.
"This was your big surprise?" Finn asked looking at the small blanket with a sea of grass surrounding it.
"Yes," Lydia looked offended before pulling a picnic basket out of no where and setting it on the ground beside the blanket.
"You really planned this out didn't you?" Finn asked sitting down next to Lydia on the blanket.
"Well, it is a very special day." Lydia grinned pulling out two sandwiches and handing one to Finn. Finn muttered a thanks before biting into the sandwich.
"This is really good. Did you make it?" Finn asked remembering how horrible Lydia was at cooking.
"Yes, and before you say anything I'm only bad at cooking, I can make a simple sandwich." Lydia scoffed as Finn rolled his eyes.
"Well with your cooking, you would think you can't make anything food related." Finn fired back making Lydia's mouth drop in horror.
"That is so mean," Lydia tried to keep a straight face as a smile cracked on her lips.
"It's true," Finn said as Lydia started to laugh still bits of sandwich in her mouth.
"Lydia, finish chewing before you laugh."Finn said with a smirk. And that was when Lydia did something Finn never thought she'd do. Lydia lifted up a hand and pulled up the finger that made Finn's smile grow into shocked laughter.
"Did you just flip me off?" Finn smiled, his eyes still filled with shock.
"No, I pointed at you. Yes, I flipped you off!" Lydia snapped sarcastically making Finn recoil in shock.
"Lydia, I've never seen you this way." Finn acted in mock horror. Lydia only laughed before playfully slapping him on the shoulder and taking another bite of her sandwich.
"Sometimes people change," Lydia grinned before turning around to grab more food. But Finn knew there was a lot more truth to that sentence than she thought. Because over the past months Finn noticed that Lydia had changed. She wasn't the oblivious little girl that she used to be.
Although she only saw light in everyone around her, she now knew there was a lot more dark than she once thought.
"Do you want to go swimming?" Lydia titled her head towards the lake with a smile. Finn narrowed his eyes at Lydia before glancing at the lake.
"But I didn't bring a swim suit." Finn said looking at the lake that suddenly was an odd green color.
"That's what underwear is for." Lydia fired back before standing up and reaching her hand out for Finn's.
"Do you know how weird that sounded?" Finn asked making Lydia giggle.
"What? Underwear is basically the same thing as a bathing suit just made out of cotton." Lydia crossed her arms once Finn stood up.
"Good point, but still."
"I'm not going in a dirty, fish invested lake with only my boxers on." Finn stated making Lydia shake her head.
"You mean cotton bathing suit." Lydia corrected with a grin.
"Fine, only if you stop saying cotton bathing suits." Finn laughed making Lydia giggle.
"Yay," Lydia smiled before throwing off her shirt and running. Finn looked up to see bare feet sprinting through the grass before she jumped in the air and landed straight in the water.
The water splashed and exploded in the air spraying Finn's pants.
After a moment of watching Lydia giggle as the water soaked her hair Finn then threw off his own cloths and jumped in the water himself.
The water was cold, but the sun that burned bright with the spring air made the water feel nice against his warm skin.
The rocks on the bottom of the lake poked his feet and the fish around his legs tickled his skin.
"Okay I got in the water, can I leave now?" Finn asked feeling uncomfortable in his underwear in front of the girl he loved since childhood.
"No, we just got here." Lydia stated ducking her head under the water and then bursting out with a smile.
"Well I'm not having any fun so there is no point." Finn stated staring at Lydia who's mouth dropped in shock.
"Yes you are." Lydia shoved Finn's shoulder before twisting around and jumping on his back.
"Lydia what the hell!" Finn managed to screeched as Lydia dunked him into the water. Finn sunk in a breath before plunging into the water. The cool liquid surrounded his face and for a moment Finn was calm, because only a moment later he was hoisted back up into the air.
Finn gasped in a breath before wiping his eyes frantically to see a cackling Lydia with a smile so wide. "What was that for?" Finn smiled before blowing the water out of his nose.
"To make you have fun" Lydia quoted the word as if telling Finn how to have fun.
"That was not fun," Finn stated making Lydia giggle.
"It was for me." Lydia smirked causing Finn to roll his eyes.
"Well it wasn't for me," he muttered, crossing his arms.
"Then why are you smiling?" Lydia asked watching the smile grow on Finn's face.
And for some reason, Finn didn't know the answer to that question.

Okay, so this update is a big update because it is the last chapter before the start of the end of the book. The next chapter will be part one of the big ending. I'm actually hoping I can finish this before the new year because that would mean I've been working on this story for a year and I don't want that. But I have plenty of time. xD
This is also a big chapter because I'm posting some new things with it! Kind of like the start of the new school year. ughhhhhhh.
I will be posting a couple of things if I haven't already posted them. I will (have) posted a new story called Colors. It is the in fact the second book (Lydia being the first) in the silver tear series! Now you don't have to read these books in order it is totally up to you because they are connected but there are no spoilers in Colors to this book! Colors will center around Divorce which a lot of people will be able to relate too. Colors is about a girl named Brielle who's parents go through a divorce which is really hard for her but she has a boy named Dylan (Lydia's brother) to help her.
So Colors will be set a couple years forward from this story but there will be no spoilers (maybe one or two minor ones xD).
I also posted a whole new story called 'Please Don't Go'! Go check that out under my profile!!!!!
The cover shop will be taken down unfortunately but a new rant will be posted in my rant book and a Stiles Stilinski fan-fiction will be posted called 'Bleeding Out'!
Go check everything out!!!!
Hope you enjoyed the chapter!!
