Chapter 17

"Something is definitely off about the hybrid", I said to myself. "Why is she so quiet? She isn't interacting with the others like they did when they were born". Yes, it's a hybrid, but every xenomorph I know of still responded to hive commands. It seemed to accustom itself to the terrain rather quickly. We couldn't run, or the humans would pick us up on motion trackers. But at this range, they can't pick up something walking. I was scanning ahead as far as I could. In about a kilometer and a half, there was a huge hole, with something sticking out of it. My data logs said it was the wreck of a juggernaut engineer craft, that was used as the xenomorph nest. I knew that xenomorphs extend their nests rapidly, so it is likely the nest now extended miles below the surface. We walked for a while, and the two xenomorphs became increasingly restless. I suppose hearing millions of voices in your head makes you a little uneasy. We were probably right on top of the nest. And the entrance was in view, just a little bit longer. We headed down a slope into a crater where the ship's remains were. A large hole was ripped in the side, and there were screeches and hisses coming from inside. As we stepped in, I noticed pods next to the entrance. Eggs. They split open, and the parasites inside crawled out. They ignored the Drone and runner, and paused for a moment by the hybrid. They crawled up to me, and didn't move. They were probably wondering if I would make an acceptable host, but then decided the better of it. They stared at christine for a while, but the drone hissed at them, and they scuttled into the darkness As we moved into the bowels of the ship, we arrived in a massive room, the cargo hold by the look of it. The xenomorphs had obviously taken a look in there, because just about everything was taken out of its container, and stacked in messy piles around the room. We noticed holes in the walls, and the xenomorphs were definitely getting excited. I knew when xenomorphs were in large groups, they generally let the queen do the thinking. "That way, android." The runner said, pointing to a larger hole. The queen had requested they come to her, so that must be the way to the royal chamber. As we climbed into the hole, Christine whimpered. I would be scared if I was in her place too, but I was not. As we descended, I heard hissing and xenomorph chatter. The floor leveled out, and we walked into a large room. And there, in the rear of the room, sat the queen.
