Rule One

Nightmare's POV

A bet... I made a bet! I was so sure of myself! But then... Comet showed up... demanding 'my presence', his words not mine...

He claimed that I did something to Outer, and that landed Outer in a hospital bed!! But I didn't do a single thing!! I hadn't touched him...

yet.

Killer was pissed though..., he wouldn't listen to me no matter what I said. He threatened to move out if I didn't do something to fix this...

So I got another job, to pay for damages, and hospital bills!! For something I didn't do! And so the cops wouldn't be involved...

"Kills please... I didn't do that you must know I wouldn't hurt someone that badly..." I stood at his closed door.

He didn't believe me... I know he didn't...

...no harm in a little game huh...

I growled that cheeky little bastard!

He set me up! He had to have! I hit my fist on the door and grabbed my keys, phone, and wallet. It was pouring, but I could care less!

I stomped out and to a store...

...I made a mistake...

I knew it...

I made a little mistake! Just a small one!

I had quit! I had! But I had acted without thinking. I had stopped!

But the moment that little dancing flame of that old lighter on my keychain, I was helpless to my long suppressed desire.

The cigarette moved to my lips and the dancing flames to the butt.

I inhaled deeply letting the positively warm and pleasant feelings finally fill me and flow through my lungs. In a sweet exhale I leaned my head on the wall I leaned on.

I needed this... I deserved it! It was only to help! It was supposed to make everything better!!

"Just like that huh?" Cross' voice perked.

Hell no... not now...

"What do you want?" I pulled the little religious-like cigarette from my mouth.

"You're willing to give up so easily?" Cross asked.

"Who said I gave up?" I glared at him.

"That little death drug stick in your hand." Cross snatched it.

"Hey! Don't touch that! It's not yours!" I craved for another long drag, a breath that was promising to be packed with welcoming warmth and understanding bliss.

"Our game has rules." He dropped the stick and stomped it out. I lunged for him only to have my cigarette box thrown into water drain.

"I hate your stupid game" I snarled.

"Hey now I know you didn't mean that~" Cross grinned.

"Okay now, Rule one, no 'damaging' substances. Like alcohol, drugs, smoking..." Cross smiled at me.

"Why not?!" I lunged at him again.

"Because if you want him to have a long and happy life you must be willing to have to make sacrifices." Cross smiled and dodged.

"What if I break that rule?" I grabbed for him.

"I have something that will keep you committed. If Killer is not enough. I have your 'Go To Jail' card." Cross snickered.

"What?! What do you mean you—" I paused. As he held up a video on his phone, I knew what it was the moment it started playing.

Shit... I watched and listened to the screen dance with light and scream with a high crescendo...

I felt myself pale...

"Where did you get that?" I made my expression darken, he stopped the video, before more of the audio got to play... the screaming that I couldn't ever get rid of.

It was an accident... but nobody would understand that...

...nobody but...

"I have my ways." Cross tucked his know away and smiled wickedly.

"What do you gain from this?" I clenched my teeth.

"Me?" Cross smiled "An absolutely fun time, and pretty little man at my side."

I stood there staring at Cross as he nodded his head and walked off I watched him.

He... he's using me!

I need some help...

...Wait...

...What were the other rules of the game?

Was he just making them up as he went along?

If so, two can play at that.

I walked from the store heading further from home pulling my phone out.

A few calls and I'd be set.

A/N: heh heh... x3 oof I feel like a made a mistake with this path... too late to go back now though.
