Melody's P.O.V

I'm sick of the rumours that were floating around about me stealing Izabelle's man. I tried to tell a few of my friends that it was far more complicated than that but, they wanted me to explain it to them, and y'all know me, I is not into explaining shit to nosey ass people. My business is my business!

I lost a few friends because of it, but I ain't let it bother me. If they were truly my friends, they would have stayed by my side.

"As cute as you look when you frown, I'd prefer it if you smile."

I looked at Richie and roll my eyes, he can be so cheesy sometimes. I sighed, leaning into him as we sat and watched our daughter playing on the slide in the playground. It was a very nice afternoon, so instead of staying home, we decided to take Megan out to enjoy the fresh air.

As I watched her tiny feet try to climb the short ladder, I felt my heart constricted. It still hurts me that I went a year without even knowing I had a daughter, and to think my family would keep something like that from me. I don't think I'd ever be able to forgive them.

"She's so beautiful, I just met her but I love her so much."

Richie's hands tightened around me as we snuggled up on the picnic blanket that we brought with us.

"What do you expect, her mother is beautiful and she loves you just the same."

I knew he was right, but I still felt guilty for not knowing about her, I mean, I'm her mother, I carried her in me, even if I was in a coma for all of it. I still should have known.

"Do you think she'll hate me for not knowing when she gets older?"

Richie turned me so that I was facing him, he held my face in my palms then peck me on the lips. His eyes full of sincerity as he spoke.

"She'll never hate you, she'll know that if you had known about her you'd never have left her."

I nodded my head, needing to believe him. I loved my baby so much and I knew that it would take me some time to come to terms with everything that happened.

Giving up on climbing the ladder, Megan turned her interest to some small pebbles in the sand. She picked up a few and inspected them with keen interest. Richie and I laughed when she decided that that was much more fun than playing with the other kids. She took up a seat on the sand and went to work digging up more pebbles.

"Looks like we'll have to give her a good scrubbing when she gets home."

Richie's eye twinkled, moving my hair aside he kissed my neck and I felt myself melt against him.

"I have a better idea; why don't I give both of my girls a scrub?"

I laughed, "Is you trying to seduce me, white boy?"

He was about to answer me, but someone cast a shadow over us and we both look up. A few girls from college were standing there giving us dirty look, some of them were girls I was friends with, and the others were Izabelle's friends. I quickly looked over to make sure Megan was ok and saw that she was happily playing in the sand.

From the looks that we was getting from those bitches, I knew that they was out for some trouble. However, I wasn't going to let them cause a scene and upset my daughter.

"Well, if it isn't the man stealing skank, couldn't find a man so she went after her friend's own."

I rolled my eyes, fuming. I done had enough of being accused of snatching another woman's man. I jumped to my feet, brushing Richie off as he tried to hold me back. I stepped closer to Morrisa, she used to be one of my good friends, someone I thought I could count on, but I guess not.

"I done told your nosey ass that I ain't seal no man from no one, so if y'all know what's best for y'all health, y'all would stop spreading rumours about me and leave me alone."

The girls rolled their eyes in that condescending way that rich white girls do. They thought that by ganging up on me, they'd have the upper hand, but them bitches had another thing come. Y'all know me, I ain't never take shit for anyone and y'all best be damn sure I wasn't about to start.

"For someone who claims not to seal her friend's man you're sure happy to parade around with him in the view of innocent eyes."

My eyes automatically went to Megan who was still playing, turning back to them I started to get angry. How dare they try to cause a scene in full view of children and families who were out trying to have fun.

"I ain't got time to indulge y'all, so believe whatever y'all want to believe, just do it away from me and my family."

I ignored them and took my seat back on the blanket, Richie put the hands around and kissed my hair. Megan was started to get up and I wanted those hoes to leave so that my daughter doesn't become upset by their presence.

"How dare you speak to us like that you dirty whore."

That did it! I moved to get up but Richie held me down, I was about to beat the white right off of those bitches, but I let myself calm down because my daughter was making her way over to us.

"Morrisa, why don't you leave her alone, can't y'all see y'all are causing a scene?"

Georgia was walking towards us from the other side of the playground, she had the same guy and girl who was with her at the movies. Morrisa looked ready to give her attitude, but a small little voice stopped them all.

"Mommy, daddy look I found, pretty rocks."

I forget all about them and caught my baby as she ran to us. She opened her hands to show us her rocks and both Richie and I looked at it like it was the greatest discovery in the world.

"Wow, those are really beautiful, baby, almost as beautiful as you and your mommy."

She smiled a toothy grin like she understood what he meant. Then she surprised me when she looked at me and said,

"Rocks no pretty like mommy."

I felt my eyes welled up and Richie's hands tightened around us both. He looked me in my eyes and said,

"That's right baby, the rocks are in no way as pretty as mommy."

Megan glanced up and that's when I realised that everyone was still looking at us. They all had a shock, confused expressions on their faces, but I wasn't going to explain anything to them, instead we got up and started to pack up to leave.

I turned to Georgia as Richie packed the rest of our stuff and try to brush the sand off of Megan's clothes.

"Gia, I'd like you to meet my daughter, Megan."

Her eyes widen at the name, but she bended down to Megan and shook her little hand. Megan giggled and touched one of Georgia's bright blue curls.

"Blue!"

She said it like she just discovered the colour and was giving it a name. It made us laugh.

"That right sweetie, maybe one day you can have your hair blue, would you like that?"

I playfully glared at Georgia, but Megan was nodding her head frantically.

"Yes! Megan wants blue hair."

I scooped her up in my arms when Richie was finished packing everything up.

"Oh no, young lady, not until you're sixty."

Richie chuckled and we started walking the short distance home. However, not before I asked Georgia to join us. We walked off leaving the others to stare at us and let me tell y'all it felt good to watch them eat their words.
