The gang were looking at the reveal of Ash's next opponent which will be the biggest surprise of their lives. When it was revealed

"No way." Ash said

"Is that who I think it is?" Misty said

"Surprise!" A voice said

The gang turned & saw Tracey

"Tracey, you're my next opponent?" Ash said

"That's right, I took the Pokémon Administrations Exams to enter & trained my Pokémon for the Indigo Conference." Tracey said

"Wow, now that's a huge surprise, we never had a Pokémon Battle while we were traveling together in the Orange Islands." Ash said

"I know, & I'll have another surprise during our battle, see you there." Tracey said as he left

"Ash, what Pokémon does Tracey have in general?" Brock asked

"Well, it's obvious he'll be using Venonat, Marill, & Scyther." Ash said "But recently said he'll have another surprise during our battle."

"I wonder what he meant by that." Misty said

Later on the Grass Field

"Ladies & Gentlemen, welcome to the battle between Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town & Tracey Sketchitt, they have traveled together through the Orange Islands which means this will be a battle between friends." The announcer said

"Go Venonat!" Tracey said as he sent out a Venonat

"Veno." Venonat said

"If you're starting small, so am I. Kirlia, I choose you!" Ash said as he sent out his shiny Kirlia

"Kirlia." Kirlia said

"Battle begin!" The referee said

ASH VS TRACEY

"Venonat, use Poison Powder." Tracey said

"Venoooo!" Venonat said as it released purple sparkling powder at Kirlia

"Kirlia, use Safeguard." Ash said

"Kirlia!" Kirlia said as she summoned a silver force field to protect herself

"Use Venoshock." Tracey said. Venonat fired multiple purple blobs from its mouth & hit Kirlia

"Use Psybeam." Ash said. Kirlia fired a a pink beam of energy from her hand & hit Venonat

"Use Poison Fang." Tracey said. Venonat's fangs glowed purple while surrounded by purple teeth-like aura & bit Kirlia

"Life Dew." Ash said

"Kirlia!" Kirlia said as she scattered blue-green water droplets on herself & healed herself

"Disable." Tracey said

"Veno!" Venonat said as its eyes glowed pink

"Kirl?" Kirlia said surprisingly as she covered in pink aura

"What?" Ash gasped

"Sorry Ash, but we're not gonna let you use that move again." Tracey smirked "Leech Life."

Venonat charged at Kirlia with its fangs glowing light green

"Send it away with Psychic." Ash said

"Lia." Kirlia said as her light glowed light blue & telekinetically stopped Venonat in its tracks before sending it back

"String Shot!" Tracey said as Venonat shot a stream of white thread from its mouth which tried up Kirlia's body

"Kirlia! Kirl! Lia!" Kirlia struggled

"Oh no, Kirlia is now in a sticky situation!" The announcer said

"Now, Leech Life, once more." Tracey said as Venonat bit Kirlia with Leech Life draining some of her energy

"Kirlia, use Fire Punch!" Ash said.

"KIRLIA!" Kirlia yelled as her fist became engulfed in flames which burned the string freeing her before punching Venonat

"Whoa, I wasn't expecting that." Tracey said surprisingly "Venonat, Struggle Bug."

"Venonat!" Venonat said as it released multiple streaks of light green energy from its body & hit Kirlia

"Use Zen Headbutt." Ash said Kirlia's head glowed pink & charged at Venonat

"Use Poison Fang." Tracey said as Venonat charged with Poison Fang & clashed into Kirlia causing an explosion & both Pokémon to skid back

"Psybeam." Ash said as Kirlia fired Psybeam

"Dodge & use String Shot." Tracey said as Venonat dodged the attack & fired String Shot

"Not this time, Psychic." Ash said. Kirlia used Psychic on the String Shot to send it back & tie up Venonat

"Veno! Veno! Veno!" Venonat panicked

"Looks like Venonat is getting a taste of it's own medicine." The announcer said

"Now, Psyshock." Ash said. Kirlia spun around like a ballerina while firing multiple purple blasts of energy & hit Venonat

"Now, Fire Punch."

Kirlia charged at Venonat with Fire Punch

"Perfect, let's use that to our advantage, Venonat." Tracey said

Venonat leaped towards Kirlia then tilted to the left letting the Fire Punch touch the string catch in flames before spinning a couple of times & freeing itself

"Shoot, that was a mistake." Ash flinched

"Now, Venonat, use Night Shade." Tracey said as Venonat fired a dark crimson beam from its eyes & hit Kirlia

"Use Confuse Ray." Ash said as Kirlia fired purple balls of energy from her hands

"Double Team." Tracey said

"Venonat." Venonat said as it glowed white & created multiple copies of itself

"Kirlia, Swift." Ash said. Kirlia's skirt glowed yellow, then she spun around like a ballerina while firing multiple yellow stars which hit Venonat & its copies

"This battles not over yet, Ash." Tracey said in determination

"Nope, not by a long shot." Ash agreed

"KIRLIA!/VENONAT!" The Pokémon said as they glowed bluish white

"Amazing, we're witnessing two Pokémon evolve at the same time during a match!" The Announcer said as the Pokémon evolved into their next forms

"Venomoth!/Gardevoir." The Pokémon said as Ash pulled out his Pokédex

Gardevoir, the Emotion Pokémon, & the evolved form of Kirlia. Gardevoir has the ability to read the future. If it senses impending danger to its Trainer, this Pokémon is said to unleash its psychokinetic energy at full power.

Ability: Synchronize

Learned Moves: Misty Terrain, Moonblast, Future Sight, & Expanding Force

"This is spectacular, now we're really getting somewhere." Tracey said amazingly "Venomoth, use Bug Buzz."

"Venomooooooooooth!" Venomoth buzzed as it released red soundwaves which hit Gardevoir

"Gar." Gardevoir winced as she withstood the attack

"Gardevoir, let's try out one of your new attacks, use Expanding Force!" Ash said

"GARDEVOIR!" Gardevoir screamed as her eyes glowed purple before a wave of purple energy expands outwards & a column of purple energy with yellow and blue sparks hit Venomoth causing an huge explosion

When the smoke cleared, Venomoth had fainted while Gardevoir was still standing

"Venomoth is unable to battle, Gardevoir wins." The referee declared

"Good job, Gardevoir." Ash smiled with a thumbs up

"Gardevoir." Gardevoir smiled back

"Venomoth, you were terrific, take a good long rest." Tracey said as he returned Venomoth "Go Dodrio!"

Tracey sent out a Dodrio.

"Waaaaaaaaaaaah!" Dodrio cawed

"Hey, I didn't know Tracey had a Dodrio." Misty said surprisingly

"Ash, I never introduced you & Misty to my Dodrio when we were traveling in the Orange Islands, Dodrio was at my parents' house during that time." Tracey said

"Cool, nice to meet you, Dodrio." Ash said

"Waaaah." Dodrio cawed happily

"Gardevoir, return for now." Ash said as he returned

"So Ash is not using Gardevoir against Dodrio?" Misty said

"Probably because Gardevoir had taken a lot of damage from those Poison Type Attacks & that Night Shade." Brock said "Besides, Dodrio might be too much for Gardevoir to keep up with."

"A Flying Type like Dodrio can run really fast, so I need a Pokémon that can match its speed, luckily I have just the Pokémon." Ash thought before saying "Lopunny, I choose you!"

Ash sent out his Lopunny

"Lopunny." Lopunny said

"Lopunny?" Misty said surprisingly

"Lopunny are known as the Rabbit Pokémon, so their incredibly good runners as well as good jumpers due to their legs." Brock said "I personally think that Lopunny is a worthy opponent for Dodrio."

"Dodrio, use Swords Dance." Tracey said

"Waaaaaaah!" Dodrio cawed as it was surrounded by light blue swords

"We'll power up too." Ash said "Lopunny, use Work Up."

"Lop!" Lopunny said as she was surrounded in yellow & pink aura

"Now, use Mega Kick." Ash said Lopunny's foot glowed metallic blue & charged at Dodrio

"Block it with your Jump Kick." Tracey said as Dodrio clashed Lopunny with its own foot & grabbed it with its talon

"Gotcha, use Thunderbolt." Ash said

"Lo PUNNYYYYYYYYYYYY!" Lopunny yelled as it shocked Dodrio with yellow electricity

"Wow, Lopunny has lured Dodrio with an unexpected Thunderbolt like an electric fence!" The announcer said

"I didn't expect that." Misty said

"Normal Type Pokémon are capable of using Electric Type attacks along with other type attacks." Brock said "I wouldn't be surprised if Pikachu taught her that move."

"Neither would I." Misty said

"Use Tri Attack." Tracey said

"Waaaaaaaaah!" Dodrio said as it fired three orbs of yellow electric energy, light blue ice energy, & orange fire energy from their beaks & hit Lopunny

"Are you alright?" Ash said

"Lop." Lopunny said as she shook it off

"Then use Mega Punch." Ash said. Lopunny's fist became surrounded by a black orb of energy & punched Dodrio

"Drill Peck." Tracey said. Dodrio's beaks glowed white & spun like drills before pecking Lopunny

"Use Ice Beam." Ash said

"Lopunny!" Lopunny said as she formed a light blue ball of energy from her mouth which fired light blue beams of ice energy

"Dodge it with Agility." Tracey said as Dodrio dodged the attack with fast speed

"After it with your own Agility." Ash said. Lopunny went after Dodrio at fast speed as both Pokémon began disappearing & reappearing in various places in the battlefield

"Look at these two go! They're faster than a speeding bullet!" The Announcer said

"Wow, they're so fast, even I can't keep up with them! I'm getting dizzy from just trying." Misty said shockingly

"Use Thunder Punch." Ash said

"Use Low Kick." Tracey said

Both Pokémon appeared in front of each other with Lopunny's fist surrounded in yellow electricity & Dodrio's foot glowing orange. Both Pokémon hit each other with their attacks causing an explosion, but when the smoke cleared

"Waaaah!" Dodrio cawed with hearts in its eyes

"Dodrio, what's the matter!?" Tracey gasped

"Dodrio's infatuated by Lopunny's Ability, Cute Charm. When an opponent makes contact with a Physical Attack on the Pokémon with that Ability, they become infatuated." Ash said

"That must be why Ash chose Lopunny." Misty said

"Right, he was using Lopunny's Cute Charm to slow down Dodrio." Brock said

"Lopunny, use Ice Beam." Ash said as Lopunny fired Ice Beam & hit Dodrio

"Now, Mega Kick."

Lopunny hit Dodrio with Mega Kick

"Dodrio, use Aerial Ace." Tracey said. Dodrio became surrounded in light blue streaks & tackled Lopunny

"Use High Jump Kick." Ash said. Lopunny jumped high into the air as her knee glowed yellow & dove down towards Dodrio

"Look out, Dodrio!" Tracey called out as Dodrio pranced out of the way in its infatuation making Lopunny hit the ground

"Lop! Lop!" Lopunny screamed in pain while holding her knee

"Oh! The damage recoiled after it missed! That's definitely gonna hurt." The announcer said

"That was close, but we need to get rid of that infatuation, use Pluck on yourself." Tracey said. Dodrio's beaks glowed pale blue pecked each other

"Wah?" Dodrio snapped out of its infatuation

"Good, now use Tri Attack while she's down." Tracey said. Dodrio fired Tri Attack & hit Lopunny

"Lopunny!" Lopunny winced as she was surrounded in static electricity

"Oh no!" Ash gasped

"Lopunny's paralyzed." Misty said

"That's the thing with Tri Attack, it can either burn, paralyzed or freeze the opponent." Brock said

"Use Air Cutter." Tracey said. Dodrio jumped, then it spun around while firing multiple light blue blades of energy & hit Lopunny

"We're not done yet, use Facade." Ash said. Lopunny became covered in an orange aura & tackled Dodrio

"Facade?" Misty said

"Facade is a Normal Type attack that doubles the damage when the user is either paralyzed, poisoned, or burned." Brock said

"Dodrio, lets finish this quick with Brave Bird." Tracey said

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Dodrio cawed as it was surrounded by light blue aura & charged at Lopunny

"Lopunny, Giga Impact!" Ash said

"LOOOOOOOOOOOP!" Lopunny yelled as she became surrounded by a purple aura with spiraling yellow stripes of aura

Both Pokémon clashed into each other causing an explosion, when the smoke cleared Dodrio had fainted while Lopunny was still standing but damaged

"Dodrio is unable to battle, Lopunny wins." The referee declared

"Dodrio return." Tracey said as he returned Dodrio

"Looks like Tracey is down to his last Pokémon." Misty said

"Yeah, but despite that, he's doing pretty good." Brock said

"Looks like it's time to bring out my secret weapon" Tracey said as he tossed a Poké Ball "Go!"

Tracey sent out a brown mantis-like Pokémon made out of stone with big black axe-like hands

"Kleavor!" The Pokémon said

"Who's that Pokémon." Ash said as he pulled out his Pokédex

Kleavor, the Axe Pokémon, & the evolved form of Scyther. This Pokémon is a rough, crude, and violent sort. It swings around its large, heavy stone axes to finish off its prey.

"So that means Scyther evolved." Ash said surprisingly

"Unbelievable, ladies & gentlemen, this isn't just any Pokémon, this is an ancient Pokémon from very long ago in the past, now we're seeing it for the very first time in years" The Announcer said

"How did Tracey evolve his Scyther is that? It looks even more terrifying than it's previous form." Misty said shockingly

"I don't know, but it looks so awesome, not only is Kleavor a Bug Type, but it's also part Rock Type." Brock said amazingly "I want a Kleavor."

"Kleavor, use Stealth Rock." Tracey said

"Kleavor!" Kleavor said as as a swirl of sand & jagged rocks formed around it before stopping & sending the rocks floating around the battlefield, where they disappear

"Oh no." Brock frowned

"What's wrong?" Misty asked

"You'll see."

"Lopunny, can you still battle?" Ash asked

"Lop." Lopunny nodded

"Then use Water Pulse." Ash said. Lopunny fired an orb of blue water from her hands

"Kleav." Kleavor said as it swatted the Water Pulse away with it's axe-like hand

"Drat, use Agility." Ash said as Lopunny ran around with Agility

"Kleavor, use Rock Slide." Tracey said

"Kleavor!" Kleavor said as it created multiple gray rocks surrounded by an orange glow above itself before launching them & surrounding Lopunny before the last rock crashed down at her

"Lopunny, No!" Ash shouted in alert

"Now, use Brick Break." Tracey said

Kleavor's hand glowed white & hit the pile of rocks causing them to crack & break apart turning them into a blast of dust. When the dust cleared, Lopunny had fainted.

"Lopunny is unable to battle, Kleavor wins." The referee declared

"Lopunny return." Ash said as he returned Lopunny "Gardevoir, I choose you!"

Ash sent out his Gardevoir

"Gardevoir." Gardevoir said one of the rocks from before appeared & hit her "Voir!"

"Gardevoir!" Ash gasped

"Is that what you meant, Brock?" Misty asked

"Yep, when a trainer sends another Pokémon out, the Pokémon will take damage from the attack, that's the effects of Stealth Rock." Brock said

"Gardevoir looks like she's not gonna last after taking an attack from Kleavor, I need to use an attack that can take effect later." Ash thought before saying "Gardevoir, Future Sight."

"Gardevoir!" Gardevoir said as her eyes glowed blue, summoned four wormholes & sent blasts of electrified psychic energy through them.

"Kleavor, X-Scissor." Tracey said. Kleavor's axe-like hands glowed light green, crossed them in an X formation & hit Gardevoir causing her to faint

"Gardevoir is unable to battle, Kleavor wins." The referee declared

"Thanks Gardevoir, now return." Ash said as he returned Gardevoir

"Now Ash is down to his last Pokémon, that Kleavor is stronger than when it was a Scyther." Misty said

"I agree, let's hope Ash chooses wisely on his next Pokémon." Brock said

"Scizor, I choose you!" Ash said as he sent out his Scizor

"Scizor!" Scizor said

"& Ash chooses Kleavor's Steel Type counterpart, Scizor, this will be a final battle between two different evolved forms of Scyther." The Announcer said

"Scizor is a Bug & Steel Type, so it should be a good matchup against Kleavor." Brock said

"Scizor, heads up!" Ash called out as another one of the rocks flew towards Scizor

"Scizor." Scizor said as he dodged the rock which stopped & flew back towards him

"Don't let it hit you!" Ash said as Scizor flew away at its own speed but the rock was still following it

"What's going on?" Misty said shockingly

"I'm afraid Stealth Rock can't be avoided by the opponent, no matter how much they try to get away." Brock said

"I'm in a tight spot, there's gotta be a way to prevent that Stealth Rock from hitting Scizor." Ash said

Ash thought for a second before looking at Kleavor & got an idea

"That's it, Scizor, go for Kleavor!" Ash said as Scizor flew towards Kleavor

"Huh, what is he doing?" Tracey said confusingly

"Now, get behind it!" Ash said

"Scizor!" Scizor said as it quickly went behind Kleavor

"Kleav?" Kleavor said surprisingly before getting hit by the rock

"Kleavor!" Tracey said

"Oh! & Ash makes a comeback by having Scizor return Stealth Rock to sender!" The Announcer said

"Now's our chance, Scizor, use Flash Cannon!" Ash said. Scizor fired a white & light blue beam from his pincers & hit Kleavor

"Kleavor, use Stone Axe." Tracey said

"Kleavor!" Kleavor said as it was covered in dark orange aura & slammed it's axes on the ground, creating a cluster of jagged dark purple stone pillars which fire stone splinters & hit Scizor

"Let's power up, Swords Dance." Ash & Tracey said in unison

"Scizor!/Kleavor!" The Pokémon said as they were surrounded by light blue swords

"Use Bullet Punch." Ash said. Scizor's pincers glowed light blue & repeatedly punched Kleavor

"Use Brick Break." Tracey said as Kleavor hit Scizor with Brick Break

"Use Metal Claw." Ash said as Scizor's pincers were surrounded in silver claw-shaped aura & charged at Kleavor

"Counter with Slash." Tracey said as Kleavor's axes glowed white & clashed repeatedly with Scizor

"Both Pokémon are going head to head with their attacks, who knows how this battle will end." The announcer said

"Rock Slide." Tracey said as Kleavor used Rock Slide

"Dodge with Agility." Ash said.

"Scizor! Scizor! Scizor!" Scizor said as he flew up & dodged the rocks with great speed before getting hit by the last one

"Now, use Stone Axe." Tracey said as Kleavor used Stone Axe

"Break through with Bullet Punch." Ash said

"Scizor Scizor Scizor Scizor Scizor Scizor!" Scizor said as he dove down & cut through the stone splinters with Bullet Punch before hitting Kleavor

"Grab it." Tracey said

"Kleavor!" Kleavor said as he grabbed ahold of Scizor in its arm

"Scizor! Sciz!" Scizor struggled as the wormholes of the Future Sight appeared

"Just in time." Tracey smirked

the Future Sight hit both Pokémon causing an explosion

"SCIZOR!/KLEAVOR!" Both Pokémon yelled in pain as they were thrown back

"I can't believe it, Tracey had Ash's Future Sight plan backfire." Misty said surprisingly

"Yeah, that takes the word 'If I go down, you go down with me' to life." Brock said

"Scizor, use Reversal." Ash said

"Scizor!" Scizor said as a wave of orange energy bursts out of the ground around him, his pincer become surrounded in orange energy & punched Kleavor

"Kleavor, Counter." Tracey said

"Kleav!" Kleavor said as it glowed orange & hit Scizor

"Now, use Stone Edge." Tracey said. Kleavor hit the ground causing light blue rock pillars to appear out of the ground towards

"Dodge it." Ash said as Scizor flew up dodging the rock pillars

"Use Smack Down." Tracey said. Kleavor fired an orange orb of energy from its mouth & hit Scizor causing him to fall straight to the ground.

"Tracey, let's end this once & for all, Scizor!" Ash said

"Kleavor." Tracey said

"Use X-Scissor!" Ash & Tracey said

"Kleavor!/Scizor!" Both Pokémon said as their axe/pincers glowed light green

Both Pokémon clashed passed each other with their attacks & stood still for a moment, just then

"Kleav!" Kleavor winced as it fell to the ground & fainted

"Kleavor is unable to battle, Scizor wins, so the victory goes to Ash of Pallet Town." Referee declared

"Awesome, Scizor, you were amazing." Ash said

"Scizor." Scizor smiled as he & Ash fist bumped

"Ash." Tracey said as he & Kleavor approached them "That was the greatest Pokémon battle I ever had, I'm glad you were my opponent."

"Thanks, you were great too, you as well Kleavor." Ash said

"Kleavor." Kleavor smiled

"Hey, how about we meet up at the Pokémon Center, I have an answer to your question regarding Kleavor." Tracey said

"Okay." Ash nodded

After getting their Pokémon healed, Ash & Tracey were outside where they met Misty & Brock

"You were fantastic out there, Tracey, I was very impressed." Misty said

"Thank you, Misty, I had great teachers, you & Ash both." Tracey said

"Mm-hm, I agree." Brock said

"Hey Tracey, how were you able to evolve your Scyther into Kleavor?" Ash asked

"I have just the thing." Tracey said as he pulled out a glassy black stone

"What's that?" Misty said

"This is a Black Augurite." Tracey said "It's what evolved Scyther into Kleavor."

"Hey Ash, since you also have an unevolved Scyther, why don't you evolve it with the Black Augurite." Misty said

"Already planning on it." Ash said "Scyther, come on out!"

Ash sent out his Scyther

"Scyther!" Scyther said

"Scyther, do you wanna evolve into Kleavor?" Ash asked as he showed a picture of Kleavor to Scyther

"Scy! Scyther Scy!" Scyther nodded in excitement

Scyther touched the Black Augurite & evolved into Kleavor

"Kleavor!" Kleavor said as Ash scanned it with his Pokédex

"Great, now all I have to do is catch a Scyther." Brock smiled

"Oh boy." Misty sweatdropped
