Fate

Searching for your brother, you can't find him anywhere. You go to his room and knock on the door, calling, "Jin....Kim Seokjin, answer this door. I want to talk to you."

You put your ear to the door, trying to listen for any movement. Nothing, but then you can make out the sound of snoring. You pout then call through the door, "I don't know if you're pretending to be asleep, but we ARE talking in the morning."

You listen closely, but there are still no other sounds except his snoring. You sigh and head into the dining room to clean, taking the dinner dishes with you into the kitchen.

Yoongi's plate and chopsticks are on top of the pile of dishes you carried in. You sit them down and start loading the dishwasher. You get lost in your thoughts when you hold the chopsticks he used.

His hands held these, and his... his lips touched them. You wonder what his lips would feel like on yours. Realizing you are staring at the chopsticks, you shake your head and quickly put them in the sink with the others to be washed by hand; the plates and other dishes go in the dishwasher.

You scold yourself as you load the dishes to be cleaned. Mumbling under your breath, "Staring at the chopsticks, wondering what his lips would feel like on mine!? Have you lost your freaking mind!?"

While you're busy cleaning the kitchen, Jin throws off the covers and sits up in bed, still dressed. Once he is sure you're gone, he picks up his phone from the nightstand. He texts J-Hope.

Jin: Well, Yoongs just left. Tonight went really well.

J-Hope: Do you think it really did? I wasn't too sure about it.

Jin: I think it did, but she is going to kill me in the morning. I think she caught on.

J-Hope: Oh no, well, at least it's you and not me who has to face her wrath in the morning. LOL

Jin: I plan on leaving early tomorrow, before she gets up. I have a lot to do to prepare for the upcoming teachers' event. So I have an excuse.

J-Hope: Oh, that's good. I will see you tomorrow. Goodnight

Jin: Goodnight

Jin ends the texts and turns off his phone, placing it back on his nightstand before heading to take a shower. He chuckles on his way, murmuring to himself, "Ha, I'll get you married off before you know it, Jian."

Yoongi is driving home, going over in his mind how the night went. He felt he was too far forward, but the guys said, according to the books they read, it's what a girl wants. But it just didn't feel right to him. He made several advances to Jian over the course of dinner, but he felt brushed off. The only time he felt true to himself was when he asked her to play the piano with him.

He reaches home, turns off the car, and sits there. Her hands look so fragile gliding over the piano keys that it took everything in him not to touch them, to hold them. He chuckles; she probably would have given me a black eye.

He didn't know Jin and J-Hope were getting their information from romance novels their sisters were always reading.

He has not dated or shown much interest in seeking a relationship since his divorce two years ago. It was a devastating divorce for him. He had been married for a little over a year when he came home and caught his wife, Daeva, and Won, her boss, making out on the couch. What hurt the most was when they saw him, and Won said as he slipped his jeans back on, "Just so you know, the baby's mine."

Yoongi's wife pulled her dress back down and adjusted it over her small baby bump, then kissed Won before he left. The whole time, her eyes were gleefully on Yoongi. The door's closing jerked Yoongi from his shock.

"Daeva?" The only word Yoongi could utter was her name.

She smiles, "I wondered when you'd find out. I just didn't expect it to be like this." She gestures to the couch where the cushions are shifted out of place from her and Won's activity.

Yoongi drops to the floor on his knees with tears spilling from his eyes. He manages to catch a breath and says, "The baby... isn't mine?" He felt his heart would explode as his lungs didn't want to expand when he tried to inhale. "Dae, please tell me, is the baby truly his?"

She smiles as her hand lovingly caresses her rounded belly. "Yes, it's Won's. I guess now you'll want a divorce." She shrugged her shoulders as if she didn't care.

"How do you know it's not mine?" All Yoongi could think about was the baby growing inside his wife's body. His heart is breaking at Daeva's betrayal. He was so excited about becoming a father, and now this.

She arranges the couch cushions back into place and sits. "All the times with you, I used a form of birth control. Women have more than the pill, you know. When Won and I were together, we didn't use any because we wanted a baby."

She sneers at Yoongi, knowing his heart is breaking, and says, "It's a boy, by the way." She knows she is twisting the dagger into his heart, but Won could provide her with the lifestyle she always wanted. She was tired of living on a math professor's pay.

Gathering what's left of his pride, Yoongi stands facing her. "Get. Out. Of. My. House." His voice is devoid of emotion, frighteningly so—the calm before the storm.

She has never seen him like this; she trembles but then bolsters her bravado, saying, "Gladly. You turned out to be such a loser, Yoongi." She walks to the door, grabbing her purse off the table nearby, but stops when Yoongi yells, "Take your things with you!"

With a pompous attitude, she responds, "What I want I have already taken." She turns and opens the door, pausing long enough to say, "Bye, Yoongs. Have a great life... a lonely life of a loser."

The door closes behind her, and Yoongi hears a car drive off. He rushes to the door and flings it open as her car is pulling out of the driveway right behind Won's. He had waited for her.

That night, in a drunken stupor, he called Jin and J-Hope, and they helped him make it through the night. From that night forward, they watched Yoongi close himself off, and it broke their hearts to see their best friend become so cold. But Jin and J-Hope had made a pact that they would always stand with Yoongi and be there when he needed them.

Not having met any of Jin's friends in Seoul, since you were living in England and attending Oxford University, you were unaware of the tragedy that had happened to your brother's friend, Yoongi.

A year later, after Yoongi's divorce became final, Jin called and asked you to move back to Seoul and stay with him. He claimed his house was just too big for one person and that he missed you. To encourage you to come, he offered you a job teaching at his school. Excited to be back in Seoul and to be with your brother, you readily accepted. You had missed him and Seoul so much that you were ecstatic when he called and asked.

Just a few days after moving in, your brother introduced you to J-Hope, who he'd asked to come help unpack the truck that finally arrived with your belongings. You liked J-Hope; he was funny and radiated a feeling of sunshine, bright and warm.

Once you started working, Jin introduced you to his other friends, Namjoon and Yoongi. Your brother took you to the library to meet Namjoon. Focused on the book he was reading, Jin had to clear his throat to get his friend's attention.

Namjoon marked his place in the book, pushed his chair back, and stood up. He was tall and very handsome, and when he smiled, his cute dimples took your breath away. Your brother practically had to drag you away as both of you delved into an in-depth discussion about books you're currently reading.

Later, your brother introduced you to Yoongi during a break between classes. Following your brother into the math room with its large blackboard and bleacher-like rows of desks, he approaches a man cleaning off algebra equations, and you cringe. Ugh math!

You knew Yoongi must have heard you and your brother enter the classroom, but he kept wiping the equations off as if he were alone in the room. When Jin called to him, Yoongi turned to face you. Jin introduces you to him, but Yoongi seems a little standoffish. He was polite, but you wouldn't really describe him as 'friendly', unlike Namjoon.

Almost a year after you moved in, an idea had begun to rummage around in J-Hope's mind. That idea came to fruition late one night when he suggested to your brother that you would be perfect for Yoongi, and your brother wholeheartedly agreed. They had plans to put their matchmaking idea into motion the week you accidentally kissed Yoongi. Their first word, spoken when they met up later that day to talk about the accidental kiss, was: "Bonus!"

To Jin and J-Hope, that day in the teachers' lounge, it seemed fate made the first move and proved to them that they had made the right decision in coupling you and Yoongi.
