Princess!Maki x Prince!reader x Princess!Eli

A/N: Requested by Otaku_GamingZX!

This one came out later than I wanted, but I'm in a bit of transition period in my life plus I'm really busy so these will be churned out slowly. But be rest assured that I am working on them! Anyways, enjoy this one! I have a bit of a soft spot for princesses and kingdoms and similar type stories so it was hard to make this one not too long while making it somewhat cohesive xD But well, I did the best I could, so hope you enjoy it!

"Y-you're the so-called, Prince (Y/n)?!"

If he was intimidated at all by your commanding and charming presence, he did not show it. From his proclamation to see the "famed Prince (Y/n)", he stated that he had gone ahead to confirm the meeting details between you and two neighboring princesses from some distance away.

With an internal sigh, you wished that they would've at least sent you a message beforehand that he was coming. Otherwise, you wouldn't have stayed up so late last night...

It wasn't uncommon for people from the neighboring kingdoms to not know that despite your official title you were, in fact, a female. You don't currently remember all the details, but somewhere in your family history they decided to do away with the feminine titles like princess and queen and made any ruler, regardless of gender, a prince or king. At least, that was the gist of it. Maybe you should've paid more attention during your history lessons, but they were a little too bland for your taste. Or maybe it was just that your teacher was bland.

Regardless, you take a deep breath and with practiced ease you aim a charming and friendly if calculated, smile at the messenger, your hand gesturing to the crown sitting on your head.

"Is the royal crown I'm wearing not enough proof? Alas, I'm unsure what else I could do to convince you, I'm afraid. Unless of course, you'd like a quick history lesson on the royal titles used by my family? I'm sure I could call for a scholar for you if you'd like, messenger."

He stutters a few incoherent sounds out before bowing at the waist, "My sincerest apologies, your highness. It was rude of me to question you so," he raises himself slightly before continuing, "I only wanted to ensure my eyes and ears hadn't failed me."

Your eyes narrow, aware of the insult that had loaded his words and tone, implying you to be an impostor. Well, you suppose he just responded in kind to your light jab mocking his intelligence. Still, you made sure the rest of your face was schooled into its usual friendly expression.

You clear your throat. You truly could not stand his pretentious, presumptive attitude. Even so, you're still royalty and were expected to act in a more dignified and becoming manner. So, you saw no need to swoop back down to his level and retaliate in kind. Instead, keeping your voice light, you reply, "Ah, but surely you are still too young to have such troubles. After all, you had traveled all the way here, ahead of your escorts even. An unkind journey alone, I am sure."

Taking that as his cue, he straightened up and looked at you, an arm across his chest in respect, "You flatter me, your highness. As of my arrival here, Princess Maki of the East and Princess Eli of the North should arrive within the next two days."

You nod once in acknowledgment, "Very well. The preparations shall be finished within the next day at any rate. If you have plans to travel back to them, you may let them know that we will be eagerly awaiting their arrival. Safe journeys. You are dismissed."

The messenger bows once more before turning and exiting the throne room. Once the doors have closed behind him, you sigh, a frown etching your features.

"My prince..." your personal maid bows slightly, "I've been informed that some members of the imperial court wish to seek an audience with you."

You sigh yet again, rubbing your temples a bit. "Very well. Tell them I will meet with them within the hour."

She bows and walks off as you rub the back of your neck. You really shouldn't have stayed up so late last night...

xXx

The doors to your personal study open as you gaze out the window and an escort announces the arrival of both princesses. You raise a hand to show your acknowledgment and you hear him leave the room to stand guard outside. With your back to the newly arrived princesses, an odd custom your lineage has to the initial meeting of guests, you're unable to see their appearance, though you've heard much about their incredible beauty and generally amazing intelligence, as well as their expertise in their respective areas.

For the quick-witted fiery red-head, she was most well known for her medical abilities, both magic and otherwise. The calmer and more composed blonde, however, was most known for her charismatic leadership capabilities, and her general elegance and grace is said to be of another level, not to mention her magical prowess.

"Prince (Y/n)." They say simultaneously. You assume they're both holding a low curtsy, bowing their heads low in respect.

You take a deep breath and reset your face before a small smile forms on your lips. You start to speak once you've turned around to face them.

"Princess Eli. Princess Maki. It is a great pleasure to have both of you here, and I do very much look forward to speaking with each of you more as the days pass." Although they can't see, you're expected to bow here, so you do and then straighten up, "Please, rise."

They both unravel from their curtsy and look at you, surprise forming on both of their faces. While Eli is able to quickly turn her surprise into a practiced smile, Maki has a little trouble showing anything but the surprise on her face, though you do notice the way her eyes dart, a slightly thoughtful look as though remembering information.

You slightly smirk at their reactions, deciding to ignore their initial surprise and continue on, "Your rooms have already been prepared for your stay in the coming weeks. During this time I hope we are able to come to a peaceful and beneficial solution for all involved."

They both nod as Eli speaks, "I believe after discussing, we will be able to end the hostilities at our borders."

You incline your head in agreement as you notice Maki twirling a strand of her hair before she opens her mouth, "Yeah, peace and all that...so long as we aren't being cheated and everything is fair and laid out under the treaty."

Eli sweatdrops as you softly chuckle at her somewhat standoffish attitude. These coming days will surely be an interesting change of pace.

"I would refuse to sign the treaty under those conditions you outlined, specifically that clause under the 3rd article and all of article 8. There has to be a better way to ensure safe passage between our borders on more even ground. With this current iteration, it would heavily put us at a disadvantage and I won't have me or my people cheated."

You huffed as you listen to Maki refuse yet another treaty proposition. It's been like this for days with one princess seemingly okay with the conditionals placed while the other would be against them. You rub your temples as you try to think of any possible ground you could get both girls to agree on.

You hear Eli sigh just before speaking, "Why don't we take a break? I think the air would do all of us good. Besides, we have some more time, don't we?" She looks at Maki before looking at you and with a small smile.

As you feel yourself smile back, Maki stands a bit abruptly, "Very well." She then leaves the room and you blink, a bit confused as Eli sighs again.

"...Well, Princess Eli," you stand, patting down your regal attire a bit and dusting yourself a little, "Perhaps you'd like to accompany me to view our gardens?" You outstretch a gloved hand to her and offer a kind smile, exactly fitting of a prince.

She stares at your hand for a moment before her smile widens, gently taking your offered hand as you lightly grip her bare hand as she stands. You can't help but watch her the entire time, caught somewhere between entranced and curious.

"I'd love to. Perhaps we can talk about more pleasing and friendlier topics..."

Something about her smile turns a bit flirtatious and you can't help the red starting to dust your cheeks as your clothes suddenly feel a little too stuffy.

"Er...if you'd like of course, princess." As much as you'd like to think you're pretty smooth, you slightly fumble in replying, a smile still plastered on your face as you try not to look nervous or anything, not wanting to betray how you're really feeling.

You then lead her to the castle gardens full of color, regal statues, and incredible topiary. You feel your previous nerves start to dissipate as she asks you about the various plant life and statues you walk by. Something about talking with this princess was quite calming, a sort of relaxed atmosphere enveloping you both as you walk along, and soon you find both you and her giggling and walking rather close, like a pair of flirtatious partners you think, and immediately rub the back of your neck, trying not to blush as you try your best to rid yourself of the thought.

"Prince (Y/n)? Did you hear me?"

You blink and look to her, immediately trying to recall what the conversation was about and what she was saying during your embarrassing observation, "Hm? Ah--well, yes of course Princess."

As you chuckle nervously she quietly observes you before walking a little ahead of you, "Really, Prince (Y/n), I like to think I know when someone is paying attention or at least hearing me. What was on your mind? You can talk to me about it if you like."

As she looks back to smile at you, something about the way this scene looks to your eyes captivates your heart. From the way she smiled to the light glow from the afternoon sun combined with the burst of colors from the flowers and the way her soft blue eyes seem to regard you...You could almost swear this is what perfection looks like. You'd commission paintings to be done of this exact view if you could convey this image to them while also knowing nothing could truly capture how this moment looks to you.

Just maybe, perhaps, this feeling is the trappings of love.

That is to say, perhaps you find yourself falling in love with her.

She waves a hand in front of you a bit worriedly and you blink a few times before trying to brush it off with a smile, "Ah, my apologies. It was nothing, I assure you. And my apologies for not paying attention for, well, earlier."

She gives you a smile back and you both continue to stroll through the garden, the sounds of nature and your soft chatter surrounding you both.

It's late but you can't help but feel as though you could make a breakthrough in getting all sides to agree to the treaty. However, at the same time, you're feeling a bit like you're lacking information or some foresight so you're currently walking to the library in hopes of finding, well, something helpful. Your steps are quiet and as you open the door to the library you are a bit surprised to find the room isn't empty.

"Princess Maki?"

She looks over and regards you quietly, her eyes coolly looking you over before she closes the book she was reading, "Prince (Y/n). What are you doing here this late?"

You close the door behind you and give her a soft smile, "I could ask you the same thing. However, I'll relent." You walk over a bit closer,  "I was under the impression I could do more to help our discussions along so I came to, do some light reading, so to say."

She raises an eyebrow, leaning back in the chair she's in, "So basically you came here to do research then?"

Something about her less formal demeanor causes you to be off your guard, the way her seemingly 'can't be bothered' attitude making you smile a little as you give a slight shrug.

"More or less. I do truly want the treaties to succeed after all. I see no reason for hostilities near the borders to continue."

She goes silent, seeming to think or consider something, so you take this as your cue to peruse through the many books on the shelves nearby. You look for anything and everything regarding the two kingdoms involved, as well as some of your own history books for reference just in case. As you start picking out a few titles, you hear Maki speak again.

"You're a bit different from the stories and rumors spread about you." You pause and look at her, an eyebrow raised. However, before you even open your mouth to reply, she gives a sly smile, standing, "As troublesome as it may be, perhaps we can discuss some of the more...interesting stories over coffee sometime."

Your eyes are glued to her while she leaves the room slowly, deliberately, your stare piercing her back. Right before the door closes, you hear her bid you goodnight before there's an audible click and you turn back to the bookshelves, replaying what just happened in your mind. To be completely honest, you're not entirely sure what to make of....all that just happened. You can almost swear the sly smile she had earlier was flirtatious, but you can't help but feel that you imagined it. She is proving to be a bit harder to figure out.

If there's anything you're sure of though, its that things have taken an interesting turn.

"So, with the final signature, the treaty is now official." You softly sigh as an aide gathers the paperwork, each kingdom being provided their own copy with all three kingdom's signatures. "The meeting is adjourned, the Princess of the North and East may leave the kingdom when they each respectively see fit."

You watch as both Eli and Maki stand and bow, both thanking you and the court for their time before making their formal exit out of the room. You wait for a moment before standing.

"If that is all I will take my leave as well." When no one speaks or makes a move, you incline your head and walk out a different door than the other two had exited from earlier.

As you walk down the hall, you sigh, glad the two princesses were able to come to an agreement with the clauses you had offered based on your research. Perhaps they will leave within the next day or so, you muse. Or perhaps some higher being, or some lazy author, will deem otherwise.

You stretch out the kinks in your neck and slightly shrug. You'll deal with things as they come.

As you reach out to open a door to your study, you hear a voice from down the hallway calling out to you.

"Prince (Y/n)!"

As you turn you see both princesses waving at you, walking over. You blink, a bit owlishly, before slightly bowing, "Princess Eli, Princess Maki. Pray tell, what brings you two to me so soon?"

Maki twirls her hair, looking uninterested as Eli smiles at you, "Well, we were discussing our departure dates, and you happened to come up in conversation..."

You raise an eyebrow as Maki cuts in, "N-not that we wanted to talk about you or anything."

Eli softly chuckles before continuing, "We had both agreed that we enjoyed our time here and are curious if you'd be willing to accommodate us for a little longer if its no trouble?"

You process her question, glancing between them both as you consider what action to take. Your first thought is in regards to the benefits of having them around, as well as their respective beauty, a thought that makes you lightly flush.

"Perhaps some arrangements can be made..." Despite the cautious reply both princesses seem to smile, Eli leaning over to peck your cheek.

"Thank you for your consideration, Prince (Y/n)." She smiles and moves to walk away as you watch her go, blinking and blushing before a soft huff is heard and you turn to look at Maki.

"I-I wasn't worried you'd reject our offer at all, of course." She twirls her hair, "But of course you did make the right decision Prince (Y/n), so..."

She then leans in and kisses a little to close to your mouth as you feel her soft lips just brush the corner of your mouth, her aim seeming to be your cheek. When she pulls back you notice the slight flush on her face before she rushes off, leaving you alone in front of your study's door trying to process what just happened.

Not only did you receive one kiss, you someone got two kisses from two princesses. You lightly fan your face, walking off to look for your head servants. You need to discuss these extensions of arrangements for the princesses.

And well....perhaps some talk of a candlelit dinner on the balcony with the princesses. If your pounding heart or the soft warmth on your face where they kissed you is any indication, you would do well to see where this fluttering feeling leads.

With a soft smile, you pace quickens. These days will truly be an interesting change of pace, as you first predicted and somehow you can't wait to see what's in store.
