*Roman's POV*

Roman: What... Was... That?

Virgil was on the ground with me now, sitting cross legged with a concerned look on his face.

Virgil: I don't know... Everything suddenly got cold, your hair turned white, your eyes dimmed... how do you feel now?

Now... I'm completely fine? At least that's what I feel like right now. Aside from the slightly heavy breathing and sore throat from screaming, I'm fine.

Roman: Fine? I don't know, a minute ago I felt like I was being burned from the inside and now I'm fine.

Virgil's expression changed momentarily to confusion before shaking his head and standing up.

Virgil: Whatever it was, it definitely wasn't a normal thing to happen. I bet FG knows what's going on.

He offers me a hand which I take and pull myself up. My knees immediately give out and I fall into Vee. You know, this new power of his is really proving to be useful isn't it?

I try to stand on my own but I can barely stay upright without support. Everything is just too heavy.

Guess I'm not as ok as I thought.

Roman: I'm fine I just-

Virgil: No, you're not fine. I'm taking you back to the car and we're going home.

But what about-

Virgil: I'll get Alex and Kat. Not quite sure how I'm gonna do that yet but I'll figure something out.

Roman: I don't have a choice in this do I?

Virgil: Nope.

He wraps an arm around my waist for support then starts gently pulling me towards the parking lot.

Roman: Vee really I-

Virgil: No arguing Ro. This is serious I-... I'm worried about you.

I sigh and let him lead me to the car. Surprisingly, no one was out here. And if anyone did see us, well I guess technically me, they didn't care. Or didn't notice anything off.

Once we got back to the car, I lay down along the backseat. Who knew walking could be so tiring?

Virgil: I'll be right back ok?

I nod, too tired to give a verbal answer, and let my eyes slip closed.

*Virgil's POV*

Ro feel asleep almost immediately once we got to the car. Which honestly isn't too surprising. He keeps saying he's fine but I know he's lying, at least a little bit. I get he doesn't want me to worry but, I can't help it.

I'm scared of what's happening...

Now I gotta figure out how to get Alex and Kat.

I make my way back to the waiting room where I find Kat flipping through a magazine and Alex gazing off in space.

I could make little barely hot flames and get their attention that way... but that seems a little much. Instead, I flipped the pages of Kat's magazine the opposite way she was. Not aggresivly like you would see in ghost movies, just enough to get her attention.

Ma(Kat): Uhh... Alex?

Alex looks at the magazine confused then reaches out towards me, her hand going through my shoulder. Which is weird, I thought I was touchable now? Maybe it's only with people who can see me...

Mom(Alex): Its cold, definitely a ghost... Virgil?

Ma(Kat): Why would he be here? Shouldn't he be with Roman?

Alex pulls out a pen and an old receipt and places it on the small side table with the magazines next to her. Taking the hint, I pick up the pen and scrawl out a short message.

'Short story, Ro's sick. We gotta go'

They both nod and stand, getting a few side glance as we rush out.

We make it back to the car and Kat opens the backseat to reveal a sleeping Roman. His face was scrunched up and he was shifting around seemingly uncomfortable, mumbling quietly.

Roman: Vee... Virgil... Where...

Without a second thought I get into the backseat with Ro, moving his head to rest in my lap.

Virgil: Shh, it's ok Ro. I'm right here.

His face softened and he stopped squirming, instead reaching out to grasp my hand like it would vanish if he didn't.

So he can touch me, but not Alex? Can I even still phase? I haven't been doing it as much cuz... Well I don't really know why. I just haven't.

Ma(Kat): What happened?

Mom(Alex): We'll find out once we get home. We need another phone.

Ma(Kat): Phone? What do we need that for?

They take one last look at Roman before closing the door and getting into the front.

Mom(Alex): Well, you know how ghost hunters will try to record "voice phenomena?" Well technically, ghost's voices can be recorded. It's all a matter of if the ghost will talk or not. Normally they just won't talk around human period to avoid accidental recordings.

I guess that makes sense. If we can move things in the mortal plane, why not record audio?

Ma(Kat): Haven't they recorded ghost's voices though?

Mom(Alex): Yes but in the majority of cases, they're just messing with the humans. They think it's hilarious.

Ok that sounds fun not gonna lie.

Ma(Kat): So, we're gonna "call" Virgil?

Mom(Alex): Basicly. Though since the sound waves are being translated over different planes, it can be kinda quiet. So Virge, you're gonna have to raise your voice a little.

Why hasn't this been brought up before is the real question? Probably a "Top Secret: Mages Only" secret type thing. Well, guess it doesn't really matter now.

The rest of the ride was silent. Ro stirred occasionally but all it took was a reassuring hand squeeze and he was fine.

Once we got back to the house and into the garage, I carried Roman up to his room. Alex and Kat directly behind me. I wonder how weird this looks for them since they can't see me...

I reluctantly pried my hand from Ro's, laid him down on his bed, and placed a small blanket over him so he could sleep.

Mom(Alex): We should talk downstairs so he can rest.

I take one more glance at Roman's sleeping form and follow them downstairs.

Alex dialed with one of the phones and set it on the coffee table, which I picked up and placed on the arm of the couch next to me. The other phone Kat's hand rang and she answered it.

Ma(Kat): Are you sure this'll work?

Virgil: I hope so.

Ma(Kat): Hey it worked! That's so cool!

Mom(Alex): Yes yes, I'm a genius.

Ma(Kat): Well I don't know about tha-

Alex cut her off with a playful wave of her hand and continued.

Mom(Alex): So, what happened with Roman?

Virgil: Well...

I filled them in on everything that had happened. The cold, the suddenly white hair and dim eyes, the screaming...

With each detail I gave Alex's face grew more and more confused, while Kat's was more worried.

Mom(Alex): The only reasoning I can think of is... no... but he's not... I gotta call FG.

Virgil: Wait what's happening? What is it?

Mom(Alex): Hopefully not what I think it is... It's probably fine-

Roman: VIRGIL!

Vee, Alex, and Kat: ROMAN?!

We all run upstairs to find Roman sitting upright clutching his chest breathing heavily. Alex gets to him first, prompting him to take deep breaths. I put a hand on his shoulder for support and he takes a sharp breath, then looks around at us confused.

Roman: Hey guys... what's going on?

Virgil: Ro, what's the last thing you remember?

Roman: Umm... falling asleep in the car?

Ma(Kat): Are you ok?

Roman: I think so? Though, the last time I said that I couldn't walk on my own so... I think I'm just-

He cuts himself off with a yawn.

Roman: Tired.

Ma(Kat): Why don't we go take out your contacts then you can sleep as long as you need ok?

He nods sleepily and Kat helps him up and leads him out of the room.

Mom(Alex): Well, that further confirms my theory on what's happening...

That doesn't sound good.

Mom(Alex): Virgil, assuming you're still in here, I'm gonna go call FG about this. I trust you to watch over him.

She leaves as Kat comes back with Roman having a firm grip on her arm.

Ma(Kat): He's basicly just sleep walking at this point. He was too shaky to take out his contacts so I did, it was like he barely noticed I was there... I'm worried about him Virge.

Virgil: I am too.

Ro falls into bed beside where I was sitting still with a firm grip on Kat.

Roman: Vee...?

Ma(Kat): He said that a lot too...

I grab hold of his hand since that seemingly worked in the car and he opened his eyes and we both gasped.

Roman: Virgey! I found you!

His normally bright red eyes were now jet black. It was like the pupil was grown so much that there was no trace of color. I looked to Kat for an explanation and she just shrugged with a concerned look while Roman giggled like a little kid.

Roman: Ma! Your here too! This is Virgil! He's a ghost!

Ma(Kat): I know sweetie...

Roman: Isn't that cool? That's so cool!

His childish giggles are interrupted with a yawn.

Roman: I'm tired...

He let go of both of us and turned to latch onto my chest.

Roman: Night night Virgey...

Virgil: Goodnight Ro.

Kat smiled sadly and placed a hand gently of his arm to talk to me.

Ma(Kat): I'm sure there's a logical explanation for all of this... but it seems like he's fine only if he has direct contact to you. You'll take care of him yeah?

Virgil: Of course.

She gives me one last smile before leaving and turning off the light behind her.

Virgil: Roman... what is happening to you?

*Janus' POV*

After Remus' episode we moved to our room during his brief period of consciousness to be more comfortable. He's gonna be asleep for a couple days and will be really out of it, in a bad way, if he's ever without me.

Janus: Father please. You know the cost, why won't you just help me?!

???: Because! He's not like us son.

Janus: Yes he is! And even if he wasn't it shouldn't matter!

???: Why don't you ask your mother. She-

Janus: She doesn't care about me! She doesn't care about anyone but herself! Haven't you learned that by now Your Majasty?

I know that was a low blow, but it's all I got right now.

???: ...fine. I'll help you. But in return the two of you will help me get back my throne.

Janus: Of course, thank you Father.
