Disappointed

Once the plane takes off, my tears are dried and I suddenly feel exhausted. I don't want to feel or think about anything. I sigh and lay my head back then close my eyes. Before I know it, the flight attendant is gently waking me up saying that we are about to land so I should buckle up.

When I step off the plane, the Phoenix air hits me and it feels good to be home. I grab my suitcases from baggage claim then I go outside of the airport and I manage to get a cab. The driver helps me with my luggage then I tell him my parents address.

Twenty minutes later, the cab pulls up to my parents home. I pay the driver and grab my suitcases. The driver tries to help me but I stop him saying thank you. He nods politely then drives off and I walk towards the front door.
I place my luggage down then take a deep breath and knock on the door.

The door opens and immediately tears sting my eyes once I see my mother's face. I wrap my arms around her and begin to sob. My mother instantly hugs me tightly. My father is right behind my mother and he pulls us inside the house then brings my suitcases inside. He then wraps his arms around both my mother and I.

Next thing I know, my mother is leading me to the sofa. She sits me down then wraps her arms around me again. It takes me a while to finally tell them what has happened. I tell my parents everything that I've been hiding from them; from how Lindsey treated me to when he first hit me, now he's cheated on me and is now having a child with another woman.

At this point I'm sobbing again and my mother still doesn't let me go. I look at my father and I can tell he shocked because everyone knows how much Lindsey loves me or well, loved me. I can tell he is also disappointed and very angry at Lindsey.

I look back to my mother, tears streaming down my face and say. "Why wasn't I enough? Why couldn't I bring my babies to term? Why did they have to die!? Why...why couldn't it be me giving Lindsey the child he has been dreaming about since we got married!?!"

I'm hysterical now; I cannot be consoled, my mother tried her hardest but it's not working.
I suddenly feel hands on my cheeks and it's my mother holding my head between her hands making me look at her.

"Stephanie, look into my eyes and breath with me." My mother said. I nod a little and follow her instructions. "Okay, breathe in....breathe out...breathe in...breathe out."

I do as my mother says and I'm finally able to relax a little. My mother then wraps her arms around me again then says. "Come on baby girl, let's you get you to bed. I'm also going to make you some tea to help you sleep. You need some rest."
Again, all I do is nod and I let my mother lead me up to my old room.

Before we walk up the stairs, I stop and I know what I want to do about my marriage. As much as it hurts, I need to do this. I turn to my father and say. "Daddy...could you take me to see your lawyer tomorrow? I...I want to file for divorce."
"Of course baby girl. I'll take you." My father replies. I nod then follow my mother upstairs.

*Jess's point of view*

As I watch my wife lead our daughter upstairs, I finally let my anger reach the surface. I start pacing wanting nothing more than to kick Lindsey Buckingham's ass! How dare he lay a finger on my daughter like that!? How dare he blame her for something she couldn't control!? He's a sorry excuse for a man! As much as I know that Stephanie loves Lindsey, I think that getting a divorce is the right thing to do.

Barbara walks down the stairs a few minutes later and sees me pacing. She placed a restraining hand on my shoulder and instantly calm down a little.

"Jess...please calm down." She says. "Don't get any ideas. Stephanie needs us right now."

My wife knows me too well; at this moment I was thinking of boarding a plane and paying Lindsey a visit. But I know she's right, our daughter needs us. I sigh heavily then nod.
She hugs me then places a kiss on my lips. She smiles a little then says. "I'm going to make Teedee her tea now. Then I'm going to stay with her till she falls asleep."
"Alright honey." I say. "I'm just going to watch some tv and try to relax."
Barbara nods then walks off to the kitchen.

*Barbara's point of view*

I walk to the kitchen and gather what I need to make Stephanie some tea. I breathe a heavy sigh and began my work. I can't believe Lindsey would do such things to my baby girl. I know she's forty seven years old but she will always be my baby girl. Lindsey has really disappointed Jess and I; he said he would always take care of her and never hurt her. Lindsey broke his promises to us and to Stephanie.

Tears roll down my cheeks and I have a moment to myself. I don't want to cry anymore in front of Stephanie. I need to be strong for her because right now, she's in so much pain and she looks so broken. Like a child needing her parents protection.

When the tea is ready, I dry my tears and splash some water on my face to freshen up. I pour us both a cup of tea then take it upstairs to Stephanie.

*Stevie's point of view*

I finish my cup of tea then place it on the nightstand by my bed. I get under the covers and my mom is right by my side. I snuggle close to her and lay my head on her chest like I used to do when I was a little girl. My mom holds me and plays with my hair. That's how she used to get me to fall asleep when I was little.

The minutes tick by and it's working. Thank goodness because I don't want to be awake anymore. I close my eyes and say. "I love you, mama."
"I love you too Teedee." I hear her reply before I drift off to sleep.
