Chapter 12

Tamao awoke, Star'Gazer was sleeping next to him and Sakura. Tamao yawned and stretched, leaving the den to go outside. He didn't want to be confined if he didn't have to be anymore. It reminded him of his cage.

He sat down in the grass and looked at the rising sun. It was beautiful, and the golden light was scattered in such a way it made the whole thing seem magical. Tamao couldn't believe he was finally free, free from everything!

Tamao smiled as he felt the grass between his paws. It was so freeing, so refreshing, so calm!

Tamao loved every second of the outdoors. He heard a Pokémon from inside the den wake up, and he turned around to see Star'Gazer. "Hello!" Tamao greeted, happily.

Star'Gazer smiled and walked outside. "Wanna train?" He asked Tamao. Tamao eagerly nodded and followed his friend away from the den. They reached a sandy clearing, where Tamao assumed they'd be training.

"This is it!" Star'Gazer grinned. Tamao looked around in awe. The feeling of sand beneath his paws felt odd, but it seemed like it would be good for training. "You ready?" Star'Gazer asked.

Tamao excitedly nodded, and braced himself for training. Star'Gazer chuckled. "Just stand there, I'll attack you so we build up your defense and my attack, okay? You can do the same thing with me after." Star'Gazer explained.

Tamao nodded, and stood still, letting Star'Gazer attack him. With the first blow, Tamao squeaked. It hurt. "Ow...!" He exclaimed. "It's all part of training, I thought your defense would've been higher. Sorry about that!" Star'Gazer chuckled.

Tamao looked down. "You're fine." He mumbled. Star'Gazer grinned and attacked Tamao again. Tamao took the hit, yet it still hurt. Star'Gazer stepped away, and let Tamao recover, before attacking again.

He didn't expect to be in this much pain, and Tamao felt kinda annoyed he had to stay still. "Alright, your turn!" Star'Gazer exclaimed, standing still for Tamao. Tamao let out a sigh of relief and attacked Star'Gazer, who dodged at the last second. "Hey!" Tamao whined.

Star'Gazer chuckled. "Aww, so cute, little guy thinks I'd actually let him hit me!" The larger eevee snickered.

Tamao growled, and turned away, heading back to the den. He wasn't going to give up his promise of exploring with Sakura so soon, and he didn't want to be around Star'Gazer because of the pain he was in.

Tamao followed the trail he and Star'Gazer used, but it soon felt like Star'Gazer was following Tamao. "What's going on?" Star'Gazer hummed. "I promised Sakura that we'd explore!" Tamao answered, happily despite the pain.

Star'Gazer let out a slight growl, one Tamao was barely able to pick up. "What was that?" He asked, curiously. Star'Gazer huffed. "No, you can stay in the den. I don't want you to leave my sight, who knows, maybe your sister will suddenly turn on you!" Star'Gazer hissed.

Tamao, taken aback by his friend's words, just shook his head. "N- no, she wouldn't do that." Tamao stated, slipping into the den as they arrived. "Tammy! Where were you? Are you okay?" Sakura asked, noticing Tamao's small injuries from the training.

Wanting to reassure his sister, Tamao nodded. "Yeah, let's explore now!" He smiled. Sakura grinned and raced out of the den, Star'Gazer watching her. "Don't trust her." Star'Gazer growled, pushing Tamao back into the den. "No! Let us explore." Tamao exclaimed, running out and running after his sister.

It's barely even been a day, and Star'Gazer was already acting weird. Tamao didn't like it, it felt like Star'Gazer was trying to keep him away from Sakura!

Tamao caught up to his sister, who was excitedly running around. "I like this. I don't like Star'Gazer though, he's weird, I don't like him, can we leave him?" Sakura asked.

Tamao shook his head. "N- no! He's our friend, he wants what's best for us, and he's offering a place to stay!" Tamao refused Sakura's request.

Sakura huffed but quickly got over it and ran around. Tamao smiled watching her, eventually Sakura ran down a path, Tamao followed closely behind. The two siblings looked around in wonder, both finding the place amazing!

"Can we go there?" Sakura asked, pointing to a large place. Tamao examined it from where they were, before shaking his head. "Too many humans, I think we should wait before we do. How about tomorrow?" Tamao suggested. Sakura frowned. "Fine. But why do you always seem to deny me?" She asked.

Tamao felt bad. "I- I'm worried. I promised to protect you, and so I will. Okay? I don't want you to get hurt, I'd hate myself if you got hurt or taken away." Tamao answered. "I'm sorry. We will definitely go tomorrow, I promise!" Tamao grinned.

Sakura smiled. "Okie!" She giggled, running around and chasing a butterfly.

Tamao smiled, happy his sister wasn't upset. He sat down and watched her, the freedom and the air feeling great. Sakura chased her tail around, which kept Tamao entertained.

He looked at the sky, admiring the sun and the bright blues. A cold breeze blew past and Tamao decided he would be better off playing with Sakura.

The smaller eevee ran up to Sakura and tackled her. "Tag!" He giggled, running off. "Hey!" Sakura grinned, chasing after Tamao.

Tamao ran through the forest, having fun playing with his sister. The large space made it so much more fun, and so much more challenging. Eventually he got tagged, so he was then chasing Sakura.

The siblings were having so much fun, it was amazing! He never wanted his freedom and his fun to end, he just wanted to spend the rest of his life playing and having fun with his sister, and Star'Gazer!

Tamao ran after Sakura, his claws digging into the slightly muddly land to gain traction. Sakura giggled as she climbed up a tree. Tamao paused and watched with awe. "So cool!" He exclaimed, trying to climb the tree himself.

It was a little easier for Tamao considering he was much stronger, and much lighter weight, but he still struggled. Eventually he and Sakura got up a branch, and Tamao tagged Sakura, jumping down from the tree and running off, Sakura chasing him.

He was sure this would never end, and nothing bad could possibly happen!
