Chapter 3
As soon as I opened up the door, I saw a group of boys beating up another boy, who was writhing in uncontrollable pain on the floor, this wasn't the main entrance as I could tell we were in the kitchen of the bakery.
From the looks of it, those boys must have been around the ages of thirteen, maybe fourteen. One had floppy blonde hair and another had two buck teeth. The third, who seemed to be their ring leader, had jet black curls and tanned skin. Regardless of how they looked, or what their age was, I couldn't take them alone.
Funnily enough, they hadn't seen me leave or come back. So they most certainly hadn't predicted the tall, well built man coming in. They all cowered under his penetrating glare. Once he had took their names he promised the fear filled boys that he'd tell their parents about this.
I walked over to the boy who was on the floor in pain and then froze in my steps.
The boy looked oddly familiar.
He stood up and tried to smile at me, but I couldn't help but notice that smile, it didn't take long before it registered in my head.
This was my Dad.
Before I could ask his name, a tall but lanky man walked in, " Stephen, what happened to you? Did those good for nothing kids come in here again?" The man asked as he examined my father's younger self,
"But uncle they're my friends and they only got angry because I didn't get them the usual," he managed to say in between winces,
"Why would 14 year olds hang out with a 12 year old boy whose uncle owns a bakery? Of course they're only here because of free food, " he said as he stood to face me,
We were almost the same height and I was feeling terribly intimidated by his scowl, "and who are you?" He asked and before I could reply, my dad spoke up,
"He's the one who saved me," the little boy said as he massaged his arm, making his uncle raise up his brow, "is that so?" He asked and I nodded almost immediately,
"Yes Sir," and then he did the most shocking thing ever, he pulled me in for a hug,
"Thank you sonny for helping my nephew," he said as he released me, "what's your name boy?" He asked
"Aaron," I replied and then he examined me from head to toe and then turned back to Stephen,
"Stephen, can I have a word with the young man?" he asked which Stephen replied with a nod and left us to discuss,
"Full name?" He asked me and I replied "Aaron Wilbur" and at that moment, I noticed he got paler.
He gestured over to me a seat, "I'm guessing you already know we are," he said referring to Stephen and himself, I nodded while he kept pacing around.
"Well then I guess its story time," he said as he got seated, and with this I was certain things were about to change.
