Chapter 25

Alyssa's PoV

Luke must have known that we needed to discuss this so he quickly bent down to Kira.

"Get your stuff in a bag sweetheart, you can keep playing with Cody for now." Kira nodded and smiled at him, although I could see in her eyes that they were a little scared. The lie about a rat being in their house, well the half-truth, had been believable but now that Michael was saying Cody and I were moving too? That was going to be a hard lie to continue. Kira quickly ran down the hallway and headed back into Cody's room and shut the door behind her. As soon as that noise sounded, Luke and I spun towards Michael.

"You can't just say it like that in front of Kira, Mike. You know I've been trying to keep her out of it all." Luke sounded slightly irritated, like he'd had his conversation before.

"Sorry, man, I wasn't thinking." Michael ran his hand through his hair with an apologetic look on his face.

"And sorry, can I just be caught up on what the hell happened?" I brought the attention to myself. "Why am I moving in with someone I barely know?" It hurt to be so rude, I wasn't like this at all, but it felt too much to have helped these people in their time of need just to suddenly be involved in it so badly that I needed to move house. Cody and I had been in this house and built ourselves up here, suddenly moving could upset everything. I needed a proper reason.

"Let's go to the front room." Michael nudged his head in the direction of my living room and the two of us followed him back into it, suddenly all adults in the room again. Ashton looked up at Luke and I before looking away again, clearly still upset by what had happened earlier. Calum offered me a half smile.

"Okay, so who's explaining what?" Michael offered up the other two guys to take the heat off of him. Calum sighed as if he was about to begin but Ashton started talking.

"Look, I get that this is all a bit weird but with Ivy back, security have suggested you don't go back to the house." Ashton said to Luke, Luke seeming to straighten as they mentioned something I didn't know about.

"Security? I thought you said the police were there?" I quizzed, the guys all looking over to Luke for the answer. He seemed to panic under the pressure.

"Yeah the police were there but they called the security company, the ones who installed the system..." he said quickly, gesturing at Ashton to continue.

"So they want you to go to someone else's house to live. Secur- The police said we ideally needed to keep an eye on Cody and Alyssa now that Ivy knows where they live too. She might try and use them for information. So because we needed to house four people instead of two we thought Calum's house was best." Ashton continued, offering a sorry smile.

"B-but what about school? Work? Shopping? How can I make sure that Cody is always safe if I'm not with him?" I asked, fear filling me as I thought about the sneaky woman from this morning somehow tricking Cody to helping her. It had only been the two of us for so long now I don't know what I'd do if I lost him too.

"Bodyguards." Calum said flatly, glancing over to Luke. "We've all got bodyguards, you can use one to help you take Cody to school and get to work. Luke can speak to the school too, he got a very specific and detailed routine for picking up Kira." I ran my hands through my hair as I began to freak out, imagining the change in my life as we gained security around us 24/7 and suddenly felt less safe.

"How are you all so calm about this?" I asked quickly, looking around at them all one by one. Not one of them seemed freaked out, stressed, worried about how their lives would change.

"Well, this is the second time Ivy has decided to grace us with her presence." Calum huffed, annoyed. "I suppose the stress all came the first time."

"Right." I said, unsure of how to continue. "So, I need to pack stuff for Cody and I to move in with Calum, Luke and Kira? For how long?" Everyone looked at Luke and he gulped nervously.

"For the foreseeable future? It took months for us to sort Ivy out the first time and she still came back. I'm thinking I'll need to go to court, have witnesses... all this will take a while." My mouth dropped open. I didn't blink. What? I needed to move out with Cody for ages?

"I'm sorry, I don't want to be rude but am I the only sane one here?" Everyone's head snapped over to me within a second. "None of you are worried about a woman who stalked you all? Who needed us to house Calum after he ran away from her? We had to evacuate Luke's house because of her? And the police and bodyguards are now involved? You're all having to live away from the places you've invested in and you'll be paying for bills for? You might have to go to court? Why am I the only one who is worried about normal life continuing?!" Calum laughed flatly and shook his head which caused Luke to widen his eyes at Calum, his lips shrinking into a pout as if to warn him to shut up. My gaze moved back to Calum.

"Because we don't have normal lives, Lys. I'm the only one who wants to admit it." Calum said, offering me a smile.

"Shut it Cal!" Luke hissed, storming over to him and whispering harshly in his ear. Calum quickly glanced over to me before he whispered harshly back, gesturing angrily towards me. Ashton quickly rushed over to me and put his arm around my shoulders.

"Forgive those two, it's tense on and off. Did you want to let Cody know he needs to pack? The police said we need to be gone by tonight." My eyes wandered to the clock where I noted it to be 4pm. Time had flown and we had school and work tomorrow. We needed to get everything sorted very quickly and I didn't have much time to sugarcoat it for him.
This was a nightmare.
