LOST
Chapter 15
"D-dying!" Adam shouted. His father sighed and sheathed his sword.
He turned away from Adam and looked down at Ian who hadn't moved through the whole dramatic fiasco. "My son is probably right... while the crimes you have committed will never be forgiven, if he says you can make a change, the I will give you a choice."
He breathed in then out, "A choice to either help my son from now on, in ways that will help save lives and such, or solitude. If you'd rather be locked away, then that is your other choice."
Ian looked up, as frail and small as a small helpless cat, he shuddered then with a quiet, almost inaudible voice, he said, "Lock me away. I shouldn't be outside in the world, everyone is much safer that way."
"What! Ian no!" Quentin cried, Adam's father simply nodded and walked away. Leaving two soldiers to pick Ian up and lead him away.
"Wait, dad! We're not done talking, you can't do this. You can't lock Ian away, and you can't leave without answering our question!"
"This conversation is over Adam, your friend made his choice, and there is nothing else to say about my demise." Then.
We were left alone as everyone carried about their daily business.
"Now what?" Jason said solemnly, "Now what do we do, if your father won't listen, and Ian won't listen, who do we turn to now?"
No one could answer him as we all stood lost, and confused.
"I-I'm going to go and try to talk some sense into Ian-- it's not too late." I ran off before waiting for an answer.
~~~~~
"Let me in, I'm just here to talk to him," I said to the guards. They looked at me for a moment before stepping aside to let me into the old stone building.
It was small, dark, and cold in the inside, no lights, and no warmth. The only light came from the small window on the door to this building, and I could make out 3 small cells.
"Ian," I called out, at first there was no reply.
Then, "Ty, is that...is that you?" A quiet whisper said to me.
"Yea! Ian are you ok, I'm just here to talk, which cell are you in?"
"The second one, the middle."
I carefully walked through the cramped hallway to Ian's barred cell. "Ian! I'm so glad you're ok, why, why did you say you wanted to be locked up?" I grabbed hold of the bars and peered through, I could see Ian's huddle figure in the dark.
"It's just better that way..."
"But we need you, we went on a quest with all of us, there's no way we're leaving without one of us."
Ian didn't answer me, "Please Ian, if we get the general, then all you have to tell him you'll help Adam, help him save live. Then we can all go back to the regular days, and after we save the world--"
"That won't happen!!" Ian suddenly lunged at the bar and grabbed them, his sudden movement and alarming facial features at the bars caused me to stumble back and slam against the wall.
Ian's tired stricken face trembled in the dim light, his bloodshot eyes quivered with, with, I couldn't tell. It was a mix of emotions, unreadable emotions.
"Look at me and tell me you're not scared! Look at me and tell me none of them weren't scared of me, of what I've done, of who I am! Things will never be the same Ty, don't you see!"
"I-I th-that's beside the point Ian, we're your friends--"
"Don't avoid the question!" He screamed, "You guys try to play the good guy and get me out of here because I'm your 'friend' but really when I get out, I'll be nothing more than your broken toy, displayed to the world because I'm a freak show! An insane freak!"
"Ian! That's not true, you're our friend, and we would never treat you like--"
"Go away! Go away! Go away! Go away!" His speech grew rapid and incoherent, "I had friends! And I killed them, I'll kill you too!"
I sat up and crawled over to Ian's cell, "I-Ian, please calm down." I reached out one hand while on all fours, without warning Ian grabbed my wrist from behind the bars and yanked me forward. This caused me to yelp then smash into the bar with a deafening crash. The bars rattled and I felt pain all over my face.
Ian's screaming and yelling stopped and he quickly let go of me, I groaned and slumped down. "T-Ty! I'm--I'm so sorry! Ty!" He wailed.
At first I couldn't respond because my head was spinning, then slowly I pushed myself up, and let out a few shaky laughs, "I-if that was all it took for you to calm down...I'd do it in a heartbeat."
"Are you kidding me! Calm! I thought...I thought I killed you!"
"Look, Ian, I'm your friend, and so is the rest of the team. We want to be there for you, but first, you have to let us."
"..." Ian sat away from the bars, staring at the ground sadly, "I want to... but right now, I can't. Do you know why they call me bloody bags?"
"Because the bags under my eyes represent my lack of sleep..I don't know how long it has been since I've gotten a good night's sleep that wasn't plagued by nightmares. I look like a monster like this, a monster that never sleeps, that's always up to kill."
"But that is not you anymore, you aren't 'bloody bags' you're Ian. You are Ian member of Team Crafted." I countered.
"I don't expect you to understand, but I do--I do have something to tell you. Something I didn't get a chance to tell you earlier, and now is my only chance while Seto isn't around."
"What? Why wouldn't you want Seto around?"
"This is just for you to know. When you said Seto was keeping secrets, you were right. I found one of them."
"What!"
"Keep it down!" He hissed at me.
I nodded, "What...what was it?"
"That book he gave you, he said only you could open it..."
"Yea?"
"That's a lie, I opened that book, with my own two eyes I saw that book open and I could see all the words that I could not read."
"But that...that doesn't make any sense..." why would Seto say only I could open it, if really anyone could. If Ian can open it, then that means so can Seto. There would be no reason to give it to me, if he could open it, so why?
I stood up abruptly, "I...I have to go..." I turned swiftly and hurried out the door.
Seto is lying to me, to us. Seto is.... Seto.... who is he?
The Seto I know isn't like this, what is he not telling us.
Seto said he set up a base in these woods, a place where he researched a way to stop the dragon. I think I know where he would've done it.
If I really want to figure out what Seto did these last three years, and possibly what he is hiding, then I need to go now. I need to go now and find his base. Even though tonight is another night of mobs.
~~~~~
Ty left soon after I told him that, maybe it would've been best if I hadn't. For all I know I was making a big deal out of something very small.
"Ian..." I jumped when I heard someone call out my name.
"Who's there!?" Suddenly a bright purple light flooded the room, Seto stood in front of me.
"Seto! What are you doing here?"
"Sorry for scaring you, Ty's been gone for awhile, I was just wondering if you know where he went?" Ty never went back? But, it's my fault. It has to be, because of what I told him.
"Ian?" I looked up fearfully, Seto looked at me quizzically, "What's wrong?"
"I-I, I think Ty left because of something I told him. I think I made a big deal of something not important." I started to feel my heart beat faster, we all know today is another day of mobs. What if Ty is out there right now doing whatever I compelled him to do.
"What did you tell him?" Seto asked, the purple flame in his hand flickered as he spoke, Seto's purple eyes stared at me, like he could see right through me. It was unsettling. When I didn't answer Seto's eyes began to glow.
"Wh-what are you doing?!" For some reason, I was filled with a sense of unease, like brick by brick the walls that formed my brain were being torn down. a piercing pain made me screech, I clutched my head tightly, "Seto! Seto! What--"
Through the tears the pain subsided and Seto's eyes stopped glowing, "Sorry!" he said cheerfully, "I just needed to know what you told Ty." He walked closer to the bars and crouched down so he was looking me straight in the eyes. That innocent smile no longer looked innocent, "I took a peek at your brain, but I saw some other things than just what I needed to know."
"Seto...?" My head still hurt, he...he continued to stare at me, like he... like he was pitying me.
"How are you still even sane?"
My eyes widened as he whispered that question, then he stood up and walked away. I scrambled to the bars and quickly reached out. My hand reached to grasp his quickly receding figure. I reached out to grab his cape, but... my hand phased right through it.
"W-wait Seto! Come back!" He turned to look at me, his purple flame took on a darker light, then he vanished and left me in the dark.
Something isn't right, Seto isn't Seto. I need to...I need to warn them, but my head hurts...
~~~~~
"Seto! what did Ian tell you?" Adam yelled to Seto as he came running over.
"Bad news guys, Ty ran off, I don't know where he went, but Ian told him something, and now there is a big misunderstanding."
"He ran off! Oh Notch, this is not good," Quentin said.
"Well what do we do?" I said and took of my helmet.
"We go after him of course," Seto said, "We have to find him before something bad happens to him."
"But what about Ian? We can't leave him here." Mitch said.
Seto looked hesitant, "We'll have to leave him, he'll be safer behind bars than Ty is when he begins to act rashly." Seto ran off and reluctantly we all followed. Ian would be fine, I hope. We'll only be gone for a little while.
~~~~~
I sat up with a jolt and instantly clutched my head as it began to hurt again. I don't understand, what did Seto do! Look through my head my a*s, that hurt like h*ll. I grabbed on to the bars of the cell and pulled myself up.
I calmed my breathing, I have to do something, warn them maybe, but how could I get out of here. I suppose the first option would be to reason with the guards, but I had a feeling they don't like me very much. I could understand why.
I searched the ground hoping for something I could use to aid me in my escape, but to no avail. This place was spotless in terms of escape, leaving Ian me only one option. Something I'd rather not do.
Use old fashion Red tricks.
I unfastened my belt, and using the thinnest part of the belt, I inserted it in the keyhole. Playing around with the lock, since I haven't done this in a while, I tried to unlock the door. The moment I heard the lock click I gave a quiet shout of triumph. Quickly slipping the belt back on and pushing the door very quietly.
Taking quiet steps I stepped out of my cell. I sighed and stood upright, I was about to head to the door when I realized, there was only one door out of here and it was guarded by two guards.
Shoot! I didn't plan this far ahead.
While I was busy trying to come up with a plan I didn't notice the door open, until light flooded in. I quickly turned to the door, my eyes wide as I saw who walked in.
Sh*t! I'm screwed!
I hope this was at least an OK chapter.
Don't forget to tell me you want a sequel, unless you already have, so I can mark down your vote.
AND don't forget to visit my book about story ideas to help decide what the next book will be after this one! So far Players is in the lead, with Midnight following after. But don't forget to consider, Dead Prince, and Alter.
