Chapter Four

For the first time in my life, I can taste freedom.

I can taste that victory everyone is talking about, and it's absolutely delicious.

I unlock the closet door with telekinesis and the invisible hand pulls it open. I'm on the ground floor, which means I have a straight path to my old truck, but my stuff is upstairs.

First step; get the Chimera.

They were easy to convince with this plan to get out. They always have my back, even when i'm about to do something stupid. Plus, they know about what's been happening with me and Daveed.

I open up their cages slowly in the living room, making sure not to make any sound. Piper's tail wags as Jason slowly wakes up. I don't blame him. It's around midnight, and they probably fell asleep couple of hours ago.

I would be asleep if I was safe here.

Piper and Jason go out when I open the door. They know the drill, but this is the real thing. Hopefully both of them are by my truck and ready to leave.

Step two; get my stuff.

I don't have too much to bring. I just know the basics. My laptop and the charger is already in my backpack with pictures, my camera, books, and my now untraceable iPod. The luggage I have is full of necessities only, like clothes and toiletries. A small amount of food, some blankets, a pillow, and my guitar (yes, that is a necessity for me) sits out in it. Maybe also a pistol and some ammo, but that's not important.

Step three; get my Chest.

That isn't easy. Since I don't have the same charms as the other Loric, i'm the only one who can get into my Chest. My Cepans need me to open up my Chest, so it's okay if I have to get away from them. But my Chest hold some very important things to me, and i'm going to need it to survive by myself.

And where they keep it is where they sleep.

My Chest is something i've been trying to figure out if it's worth all the trouble for weeks. It was a hard decision too, but it was a yes.

Before I enter the lion's den, I turn invisible so i'm just a gust of wind or weird noise that the house makes to either of them. Then I open the door. Their room is nice and open and they have my Chest hidden in Saige's closet, which is open most of the time. I dig it out of an old box and it turns invisible as soon as I touch it.

Surprisingly, it's light for how much it holds. And I carry it out like it's no big deal.

No problem their, thankfully.

So I walk out like it's no big deal and place it down with my other things right next to the front door.

Step four; the notes.

Most cliche books with the main character running away from home tells that the character leaves a heartbreaking note, so that's what I did. On the kitchen table, I leave a note that I had written the night before.

Saige and Daveed,

You two have done hard and terrible things to make me who I am today. I needed to leave.

Daveed, you are an idiotic, conceited douchebag and I will never want to see you until you're six feet under. I hate you for what you've done to me, and I can't believe Saige ever could love you, bastard.

Saige, I love you to the ends of the earth and Lorien. You've been so good to me, and it almost killed me to leave. I needed to leave. I needed to do as my father wanted me to do and help the others with there goal. Daveed has done things to me. Things that you wouldn't believe your "sweet, innocent husband" would do. Ask him, and you'll understand why I had to do this.

I might die, but i'll die with the thought of Lorien on my mind.

Don't bother coming after me.

Jae

Step four completed.

So I walk outside to my truck with my stuff all ready to go. The Chimera sit there patiently, ready to run and do something.

"Where are we going?" Piper mentally asks me.

"Somewhere. I'll figure it out in a while. Let's just get out of here first."

I open the passenger seat and they hop on in before I shut the door slowly. Then I jump into the drivers seat and ignite the engine.

And drive.

I pass my school, and the old places where I used to hangout.

I pass my friends houses, where they are sleeping or partying this Saturday night.

I pass my childhood.

I just keep driving until I pass the city limits.

In Colorado, I was in a glass cage, surrounded by my ashes.

I needed to be shattered, and here I am.
