Cold
A/N: HI I'M BACK! Sorry for abandoning this for awhile. I didn't really have any motivation to write for a solid month. Thanks to those who kept this alive while I was gone. THANK YOU FOR 20K READS THAT'S INSANE!!!
The early winter air was crisp with a bit of a bite, making your nose and cheeks turn an oddly pinkish hue as you walked out onto one of the many balconies of Asgard's palace. Your cloak did not manage to keep you very warm and you bit your lip to fight off a shiver. As you stepped outside, you found Loki pensively leaning on the balcony's ivory railing, staring out at Asgard's beautiful landscape. You smiled to yourself as you stepped forward to join him.
"Hello, Loki," you said softly. The pale morning sun only accentuated Loki's naturally elegant features. He turned to face you with a small smile. "Well hello, y/n. What brings you out here on this brisk morning?" You felt your cheeks grow hot, a stark contrast to the rest of your body which was beginning to sting with the cold. You merely held up the book you had tucked under your arm as an answer to Loki's question. "I was hoping to read in the fresh air...and I wanted to see you."
Loki chuckled. "And why is that," he asked, a bit puzzled. You shrugged. "Can't a girl just want to see her best friend?" Loki raised an eyebrow at your answer. "I seem to remember someone calling me a 'complete idiot' yesterday before throwing a roll in my face. Was that you someone else?"
You rolled your eyes at his little anecdote. "Well you were being a complete idiot. You are a complete idiot, but you're my complete idiot," you said playfully. He only responded with a soft smile. You know something was off. "Lokes? What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, darling," he said shortly. You drew back, surprised with his annoyance. Loki must have realized he had been a bit abrupt, because he sighed and looked at you. "I'm sorry. It's just...you don't want to hear about it."
"I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want to hear about it. Please tell me what's-" Your body could no longer fight the numerous shivers you'd been holding inside. You shuddered, interrupting your sentence. Loki looked at you, concerned. "Why didn't you say you were cold? Come here." Loki picked you up and took you to one of the sofas on the balcony. Once he sat you down, he wrapped you in his cloak. "Won't you be cold," you tried to object. Loki only laughed. "I'm a frost giant, dear. Cold isn't really a concern of mine."
He then sat down a few inches away from you, but soon gestured for you to come closer. You laid your head on his shoulder, somewhat reluctantly. He looked down at you and sighed wistfully. "Will you please tell me what's going on with you," you persisted. "You can tell me anything, Lokes."
He bit his lip as he stroked your hair absentmindedly. "If you haven't noticed, y/n, I'm not great at expressing feelings." You looked at him seriously, encouraging him to continue. "Y/n... everytime we're together... I just want to kiss you and I must admit I'm not sure what to do about it." Your eyes widened and you sat up suddenly. The truth was, you loved Loki, more than anything in the world. You had just pushed the possibility of ever being with him romantically involved with him out of your head on account of how he'd never really had a partner in all the years you'd known him. You had just figured he wasn't interested in romantic relations with anyone. You'd forced yourself to forget the notion that you loved Loki out of respect for him.
"Loki, I- I don't even know what to say." Loki's face fell as your remark had made him think you weren't interested. "I respect whatever you decide to-"
You cut him off with a kiss. He gave in quickly and wrapped his arms around you, holding you tightly as the two of you kissed like your lives depended on it. When the two of you broke apart, Loki touched his forehead to yours and smiled as he breathed heavily. It was in that moment both of you realized how perfect you were for one another.
