I bit my lip as I slowly approached Zeke and sat down next to him. "I would tell you its okay, but its not." I told him. "All I can do for you is console you."
I went to put my arm around him, but he quickly grabbed me and brought my close to him. He wrapped his arms around my frame and squeezed me into an embrace. He buried his face into the crook of my neck. "It's my fault they got shot." he mumbled against my skin.
I brought my hands up and began rubbing circles on his back. "You didn't know." I assured him.
When we pulled away, I stared at his face. His eyes were red as well as his nose and a single tear rolled down his cheek. I cupped his cheeks with my small hands and wiped away the tear with the pad of my thumb. I flashed him a weak smile which he returned immediately.
His hands went up to mine and he removed them from his face. "Thank you." he whispered.
I waved him off. "No problem."
We sat there in silence. The only light source was the light from my phone. Everywhere around us was pitch black. Most of those girls in this school who crush on Zeke would most likely be thinking that it is romantic being here with him. Well we are sitting on a dirty floor in the girl's bathroom during a lock down.
I'm terrified even though I'm not showing it. I guess I'm not as scared as I was before. I don't know if it's because I have company or if it's because I know that I'll be alright.
I picked up my phone and unlocked it. I went over to my text messages and clicked on Calla's name. I silently prayed as I typed her a message, hoping that it would send without failing.
The notification saying 'message failed to send' popped up and I let out a frustrated groan. Sending it a second time, I stared at the screen, watching the blue bar slowly move across the screen and stopping with a little space left. Why does there have to be rooms with bad reception?
My eyes widened in surprise when the word 'delivered' popped up underneath my text.
Me: R u okay?
The little speech bubble appeared on the screen, letting me know that Calla was okay.
Calla: OMG! I was worried sick. I'm fine now that I know ur alive. I'm hiding in a little corner in the classroom along with a few other students. One of the shooters came in a shot almost the whole class, including our teacher. I don't know how me and the rest survived. I guess we were in a good hiding place
A breath of relieve flowed out of me. My eyes watered as I silently thanked the Lord for keeping my friend safe. Although many others in that class got shot, I'm glad she didn't because I don't know what I would of done if she got hurt or killed.
Me: Shit! Did u get hurt? Who all is still alive in there?
Calla: Me and a some of Zeke's friends :/
I turned to Zeke. "Your friends are alive." I informed him with a half smile. His head shot up and he looked at me.
"Really?" he asked with relief in his voice.
I nodded. "Yeah. My friend Calla is stuck in her classroom with them. Apparently one of the shooters broke into the room and shot almost everyone and the teacher. They managed to survive, which is kind of strange considering the fact that our friends didn't get shot."
I glanced down at my phone again and read the new message Calla sent me.
Calla: Where r u? R u safe with ur class?
Me: I'm actually in the girls' bathroom....and yeah I'm fine. But u can never guess who I'm stuck with.... -_-
Calla: OH MY GOD! HOW DID U GET IN THERE? And who r u with?
Me: Zeke.....
I could feel Zeke's hot breath hitting my neck. I tilted my head to the side to see what he was up to and immediately regretted it when I realized how close his face was to me. "I'm not that bad." he teased as he stared down at the text I just sent to Calla.
I scowled. "Yeah you are." He chuckled and leaned forward so that our noses were lightly brushing. I felt my toes curl in my shoes as his warm breath fanned my face.
"I doubt that. By the look on your face, I can tell you that are wanting me to just lean forward and press my lips against your's."
My mouth jaw as I stared at him in shock. Then my face morphed into one of disgust and I scoffed, "Yeah, right. Keep telling yourself that."
"Oh I will." he said while wiggling his eyebrows. I shoved his face away from me before going back to texting Calla.
Calla: REALLY?! How has that been for ya?
Me: Eh it depends. We have those moments when we're at each other's necks and then we're talking normally....
Calla: I ship it
Me: Calla! Don't u dare go there. We're not even friends!
Calla: Whatever *smirks*
I locked my phone screen. Why does she think we like each other? If anything, we hate each other. I glanced at Zeke through the corners of my eyes. He was running his hand through his hair while staring straight ahead. I watched as his arm muscles flexed.
I don't like Zeke....never in a million years. I would rather get shot by a sniper or get eaten up by a wolf.
Right?

*Calla's POV*
After I sent that text to Valentina, I locked my phone and slid it back into my back pocket. I pressed my back up against the wall and leaned against the tall, metal drawers that were about a foot taller than me. I heard low whispers coming from the asshats that are also known as Zeke's entourage, or friends.
I peeked around the corner and saw one of them closing the door. I felt a little better knowing that the door was close, but I still felt uneasy knowing that I was in a room alone with them. Knowing that I should probably let them know that their leader was still alive, I slowly came out from my hiding and approached them.
I cleared my throat and all of their eyes landed on me. One of them decided to speak up as they all got up from the floor, "Have you been here this whole time?" He asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Ummmm....I um...Yeah." I replied while consciously rubbing my arm, my eyes wandering over the dead bodies that scattered the floor.
My eyes moved up to meae his. His skin was tanner than the others and his hair was a dirty blonde color that was all pushed to the front of his head. He had a tattoo going from his shoulder that went down midday. He, and the rest of the group, wore dark clothes including, beanies, leather jackets, T-Shirts, and black pants.
"I was just texting my friend. She is with Zeke. They're both okay." I told them.
Another guy with the sides of his head shaved while the hair in the center of his head was thick, black, silky, and it stuck up. He had gages in his ears as well. "Does your friend happen to be Harper?" he asked.
I nodded in response. "And she's with Zeke right now?" I nodded again.
They all chuckled, their deep rumbles made me feel a little less tense. "They haven't killed each other?" I shook my head. We all fell into an awkward silence. I mean, what was I suppose to say. They were friends of Zeke, the bad boy group of the school. They break the rules, skip classes, and bang girls in the janitor's closets.
One of them caught my attention. His eyes were the color of the ocean. His jaw was well defined and his nose was the perfect size and shape. His raven hair cut to the right size and fell nicely on his head. Not too long and not too short. His eyes were boring into mine as his hands were crossed across his chest. "What's your name?" he asked. His voice was deep and soothing, which sent shivers all throughout my body.
"My-" I cleared my throat, "-my name is Calla."
"Like the flower?" A small smile graced his lips when he asked that.
"Yeah. Just like the flower."
"I'm Josh. Over there is Tyler-" he pointed to the guy with dirty blond hair, "Dustin-" the guy with the sides of his head shaved waved at me, "and that's Ryan and Garrison." He pointed out a couple more guys, one wearing a dark grey beanie and the other wearing a black baseball cap backwards.
I gave them all a small wave before sitting down in a chair that was standing by the desk next to me. I avoided their eyes, feeling very awkward about being stuck in here with the four of them, but I could still feel a pair of eyes on me.
"Am I the only one who thinks that Zeke and Harper are a perfect match?" Dustin asked with a smirk playing on his lips.
I glanced up with a smirk. "No. I ship them like crazy."
"I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't done the dirty yet during this crazy shit." Garrison replied while wiggling his eyebrows.
"I bet you all $50 that they will end up getting together after this." I smirked as I pulled out my wallet and waved it up.
They all looked at each other with knowing looks before they all said 'yeah' in unison. Well there we go....a bet about Zeke and Val getting together. They probably would, knowing that they have some time to get to know each other instead of yelling. Because if they fought, that would put them at risk of getting caught.
Voices were heard out in the hall. We all froze in our spots when a loud noise sounded throughout the building. Damn...another gun shot. I looked up at Josh when he approached me. He grabbed my wrist and lifted me up, leading me over to the rest of them. "We should probably hide just in case they decide to come back for a second round." he suggested.
We all nodded in agreement and went over to the closet towards the back of the classroom. The door was locked and we all groaned in frustration. Suddenly getting an idea, I walked over to the teacher's desk and searched for a pair of keys. My eyes landed on a key chain buried underneath a pile of graded papers and a couple of folders.
I picked them up and brought them over to the asswipe squad. I shoved the key into the door knob and it opened. We all entered into the dark closet and closed the door behind us. I went against the wall and slid down to the floor. Pulling my knees up to my chest, I just stared into the blackness that enveloped me.
I felt heat radiate off of something next to me. A warm hand gripped mine. I quickly pulled it out of their grasp and attempted to look in the darkness to see who was next to me. "Keep your hands to yourself." I scolded them.
Chuckling echoed as they all laughed at me. I pouted with an eye roll. "No promises." Josh whispered into my ear. I tilted my head and rubbed my ear on my shoulder before reaching out and giving him a shove.
"Pervert." I muttered under my breath.
