#18: "The Raven"
THE RAVEN
From clouds of twilight a raven flies,
But slower and lower than the skies.
Its dark wings weakening as they're flapped,
And its black skin gets even more black.
Lost by the wind of melancholy;
The bright paths he can no longer see.
Only the gleaming cave shines on him,
Such raven took its wings into grim.
Entering a dim cave without light,
Bringing this bird to the darkest plight,
Trapped in a murky world's seclusion,
Tormented by such desolation!
After hours of his despondency,
A beam of light shined on him clearly.
He flew his way out and saw the sun;
The raven knew that hope's not yet gone.
Author's Note:
Now, it's time for me to be serious as I reveal the theme of this poem. *Ahem.* Hahahaha.
This poem may sound the same as "The Crow and his Shadow", but no. They are different poems. They are almost the same, but they talk about different topics. The poem about crow talks about feeling left behind and overshadowed by others who are different from you, while this poem about a raven talks about DEPRESSION.
Yes, depression. It is one common issue nowadays. I have been hearing many reports of numerous people committing suicide due to depression. I felt concerned and sympathetic, and so, I decided to write a new poem about depression, a common thing that is occurring in our society. =(
We should never lose hope, and never get ourselves glued to our problems and all those things that give sorrow to us. We should be stronger. Depression is one of our biggest enemies, but we can always fight it. Let us just not worry too much, not get ourselves trapped in a problem, and wipe all the regrets. =)
Let us remember that whatever is done is done, and we should not worry about what might happen in the future, but just strengthen and prepare ourselves for everything to come. Always be happy, and never lose hope. There will always be light in every dark situations. Hope will never be gone, wherever you go. Never isolate yourself, and remember that you are always loved. We will never be alone, even if things go wrong. ;)
I am praying that depression would start fading away from our society. Yes, it might be normal if we suddenly come to huge problems, but we should try being stronger, and avoiding ourselves to be so carried away by anything. Life is fun, and we should just be happy, because bad things normally happen, and we cannot control anything. We should just smile and be happy, because life is too short to worry and give too much depth about. Let us just smile wide, laugh hard, and always feel the love that life has for us, because we are always loved. :D
Have a blissful and beautiful day! ^_^
