Chapter 32

Another one. Lets go!

"DARK WATER!"

"SHINE AQUA ILLUSION!"

The two water base attacks struck each other.

"How dare you interfere with my work?" Berthier huffed and looked annoyed.

Sailor Mercury response.

"MERCURY BUBBLES!"

"EEK!" Quickly jump in the air to float. The bubbles blocking her view. "You really are a strategic one."

"SPARKLING WIDE PRESSURE!"

"AHHHHH!" Berthier unable to move away in time and got hit on the arm. Lands back on the ground as the fog began to leave. She clutch her arm tighter to now see Sailor Moon and Sailor Jupiter. "You're terrible! Three against one is playing dirty! I'm against violence!"

Silence.

"Are you serious?"

"Is it so hard to believe?"

"Yes."

"If you're trying to make us feel bad. You're failing." Sailor Moon got in a fighting stance as she held her staff. Along with a familiar fire extinguisher.

"I don't mind firing off another attack unless you come with us." Jupiter prepared as well and electricity forming around her hands.

"Oh? Will I get to know you identity as well?"

"What?"

"She talking about me." Mercury head down. "I should have transformed before I came in here. But I didn't and messed up."

"Well, I'm not coming with any of you. I'm very mad right now. You will pay for this!"

"Then pay now!"

"I will lateEEKK!" Transported away as the fire extinguisher was thrown at her. Now a wall has a dent.

"Wow."

"Agreed."

"I'm sorry you two." Mercury head lowers down again.

"It's terrible and will need to be careful. But we do know something now." Sailor Moon touch Mercury shoulder.

"What's that?"

"Berthier at this place for a reason. It could be a crystal point that Koan mention. Which means she will come here again." Jupiter grinned at Mercury.

Mercury smile slightly and still look worry. Along with wanting to hit herself for doing such a thing.

"Will keep a guard and make sure nothing happens."

"Mada will probably keep a close watch on your mom and other classmates from Cram school. Just in case she goes after them."

"I would appreciate that a lot." Held ease Mercury mind slightly.

"Come on let's get out of here. Will reach the others and talk about what to do tomorrow."

"Alright."

"Um we should fix that first." Point at the wall that got a few cracks.

"Oh yeah right."

They all found out and will keep an eye for any danger. Error kept close eye on Ami mother and anyone else she knows. Along with the schools. It was a tense time but that's all they can do. Including kept an eye on the Chess Tower.

Then it was time for the tournament.

Ami took a deep breath as she gets herself prepared. Look back her phone and smile a bit as her friends wish her luck. Along the area they would be sitting. Her mother sending her text of good luck and wanting to be there. She can do this. At least give her another reason to be there if Berthier will be too.

It was time as the tournament start.

The audience watch the tournaments of the screens. As the contestants are in another room doing all the matches.

"I have to ask. How you got Luna to come in?" Koan asked, as she was with the girls who came along. To cheer for Ami but also to see if Berthier will actually be here. Melvin wasn't able to come like he said. Error was watching Chibiusa when he picked her up after school.

"Magic." Molly giggles while holding Luna. They all chuckle quietly at the answer.

"Look Ami one another." Rei points at the screen.

"Won't it be great if Ami wins?" Koan asked and smiles.

"Yeah." Minako grinned.

"Let's keep cheering her on!" Usagi cheered loudly and holding up a pair of Japanese fans. "Go for it, Go for it, Ami!"

Minko and Lita head down in embarrassed as Usagi cheering. Molly giggles as she used to it. Luna let a meow. Koan sweet dropped. Rei snatched the fans away from her.

"Do you have to be loud?"

"Do you have to be a party pooper?"

"I am not!"

"How about we cheer after Ami wins Usagi." Molly looks at her pouty friend.

"Fine but you're all cheering with me when she wins!"

"You girls?"

The all freeze and look down at an older gentlemen as he looked at him. A tie that had chess piece designs. Waiting to see if he will tell them be quite or silent.

"Sorry for being rowdy sir." Lita laughed awkwardly.

"It's alright. Quite like it gives the players a challenge since you will have to be strategic on the field." The older man smile even if it was hard to tell with the mustache and squinting eyes. "Your Ami friends? Correct."

"Yes."

"I see. So, you girls, along with a boy she mention, are such wonderful friends she had mention."

"Oh? Who are you old man?"

"Just an eccentric old man who built this Chess Tower."

They were in awed and remember Ami mention she knew the owner.

"Excuse me, but do you think Ami has a chance at winning?" Minako asked him.

"Her rival is a problem."

"Rival?"

He points to a young woman on a screen. Light blue hair in a red, black checker dress. "See? She won another one. This girl is very good."

"Wow. She going through them in a snap."

"Hey that's the girl from last week too. Trying to talk down at Ami."

"Ami is to-Koan you okay?" Usagi looked up at her as she sees a look in her eyes.

"It's Berthier." Koan whispered as she saw through the disguise.

"What?" They all stared at her in shock.

"It's my sister."

"You sure?"

"Positive." Koan looked worried. Why is she doing this tournament? If this is the Crystal Point why not strike it now.

"Should we do something?" They all took a step back and whispered.

"How? We be putting Ami at risk if Berthier announced Ami is well Mercury. Or worse if she transformed and everyone sees it."

"We can at least get ready to strike."

"What about Ami? She doesn't know."

"Right now she got to win and finished this fast."

"I think half of us stays here to watch if anyone else comes. The other half starts heading there."

"It's just them now."

They look at the screen to see Ami against Berthier now.

Yep time to go!

"Let's have a fun game of chess." Ami smile and hand out to shake. Sees the woman from before smile and shake her hand. Ami stays still. Her hand it was so cold. Didn't bother her but defiantly not normal.

Berthier than smile. "I'd like to use these pieces for the final game."

Ami blinked and see a new set of chess pieces. "They're pretty."

"There not just pretty."

"What?"

Berthier smile and sits down. Ami soon joins in.

Ami eyes widen as the match starts. She was good. Began to lose a piece each time. Try to stay focus as best she can able to take a few pieces as well. But can see it's not going well. Stayed quiet and concentrate as Berthier takes another.

"Come now, what the matter? It's your turn."

"Oh, I know!" Ami smile and took the next piece and reversed it.

Berthier eyes widen in shock. A small twitch/

"Checkmate." Ami look up and eyes widen at the woman reaction.  Head down to not see her facial expression.

"Not yet. The match isn't settled yet."

"What?"

"The real competition has just begun, Sailor Mercury."

Ami quickly stand up and back away slightly. "Berthier."

"Playtime is over!"

Everyone in the audience confused now. Then suddenly couldn't see them anymore along with static. Then blackout. Along with the lights began to fade.

"Usagi Berthier block the camera feed." Molly tells Usagi over the phone. As she, Luna and Koan stayed far away to not be heard.

"Thanks for the heads up! You all get out there quickly and help anyone out."

"Alright." Molly looks up and blink. "Luna where Koan go."

"She was right here." Luna looked around in panic too.

When all that happen Ami and Berthier now in their other outfit. Along with the room covered in ice. Then the door busted open.

"Hold it right there!" Sailor Moon and the other scouts appeared.

"Oh no. I can't let you interrupt our fight like last time." Berthier smiles and quickly.

Then suddenly a flash and the four scouts, besides Mercury, are trapped in a bubble.

"A bubble!"

"Not just any bubble. An ice bubble."

"No!" Mercury cried in shock to see them floating above them in the bubble.

"As they say, "Those born stupid, die stupid." Berthier giggles.

"Yet you didn't bother doing this when you and your siblings all fought us at the same time." Sailor Moon not looking impressed.

"Or the times you could have trapped the rabbit." Venus pointed out next.

"Heck you probably could have done this yesterday and we would have been hostages." Jupiter scowled.

"Or the time in the ice cream shop covered in all ice." Mars twitch and hands began to get smoky.

"I'm going to ignore you for now." Berthier smile while twitching. "Sailor Mercury I challenge you to a match. "If you don't play this game, you're so proud of well your friends will be frozen in the bubble. See?"

The bottom part of the bubble began to freeze up. While Sailor Moon, Jupiter and Venus look a bit cold. Mars look fine. If not all four seem bored. Berthier pushed it away thinking they're just trying to not think about their doomed.

"We could attack it?"

"Last time we were in this it did nothing. Along with loosing air till Venus destroyed the dome."

"Yeah well probably now we could have destroyed it back then."

"True but it's already cold as it is."

"Should we um used that?" Mars point at Moon bracelet.

"Um I do but at the same time. I kind feel sorry for her?"

"Seriously?"

"At least she planned this but I don't want to be frozen."

"Were not going to get frozen."

"Plus, we could just well call Error too just open a portal."

"Your right."

"Hey guys they been playing chess for a while."

"Wait?"

"Seriously?" They looked down.

Sailor Mercury indeed accepted the challenge from Berthier. Along with how her lower half began to be covered in ice. Yet, Mercury doesn't seem phased about it but play the game.

"Just stop pretending you're okay." Berthier looked at her. "Are you going to give up your life for these strangers? That would be stupid."

"Just like you giving up your choices for power."

"Pardon?"

"Those stranger are my friends. I would do everything I can to save them. Just like they would as well. Since it's their choice. Will it be stupid if they rush out like heroes. A big yes. But it was their choice. Just like it's my choice to tell you are wrong. I will risk my life for my friends!"

"Friends?" Berthier was stunned as she stared at this scout. This girl. Risking so much of herself for these people. Would they do the same? Her mind went back to some of the battles with them. How they were always helping out the other. As teammates. As friends.

Would she do the same for her sisters?

Didn't she before? Didn't they all have before they were sent away? Always have each other backs. No matter the risk or cost. Did they forget they were close once upon a time? Even before the clan.

Berthier quickly shake her head from these thoughts. "Stop buying yourself time."

Then suddenly Petz and Calaveras were standing behind her.

"Good job Berthier."

"All three of us will work together to finish them off."

Berthier pouts at the pair. "Honestly, you two have some nerve!"

"Oh, but the three of us make up the Three Ayakashi Sisters."

"That's right; we should all be nice and share the glory."

"Let me do what I need to do." Berthier huffed and took the last piece. "Chec-"

SWOOSH!

Rose pierce the chess piece and now crush to pieces.

"You again." Berthier smile while holding her wrist. Her sisters scowling at the other direction. Mercury relaxing in the ice chair not phased. Look unhappy when it disappeared. The girls in the bubble. Well, the bubble vanish in the air. But the pair floating.

"Wait? You can float!" Petz yelled at them.

"Not for long really."

"Plus we kind of forget."

"If you do not understand what it feels like to be a pawn, you have no right to handle a Queen." Tuxedo Mask looked at them all.

"..."

"That is rich coming from you!"

"Good bye!"

He was gone.

"Did he seriously leave?"

"Yes."

Berthier then notice the problem as it was three against five now. "Sisters! Quickly help me fight them!"

"This is your tactical mistake, Berthier." Petz smile but took a step back when she saw Sailor Jupiter. Already look ready to shock her ant second.

"That's right!" Calaveras try not to gulp seeing Venus crack her knuckles. "As befits a member of our clan, you will pay for your failure with your life!"

"We expect you to do the right thing!" The pair suddenly gone.

The scouts stunned at what they just witness. Yes, they understand from Koan the cyrstals and possible the marks will be messing with your own senses. But to just abandon your sister like that even we she asked for help. Her failure being her life!

"Berthier." Mercury took a step towards the young woman. Her back facing them. Look like she was trembling and held back to make any sounds. Then let out a soft giggle catching them all of guard. She turn around to smile at them all.

"See? In the end that what you get, even from sisters related by blood. No, one would ever protect a complete stranger at the risk of their own life. Even from your own family. What the matter? You look so somber. Come on laugh everyone. Even I think it laughable that I held on out a bit of hope until the very end to reply on my sisters. Family means a lot to me. Supposed to love and trust them. P-protect you. That it sh-should be laug-laughable." Berthier smile began to crack until she suddenly scream. "Laugh damn it!"

Everyone jump back waiting to see she will attack.

"DARK WATER FULL POWER!" Berthier yells out as her water attack surrounds her. "I'll take all you with me!"

Shock filled their faces as the room gets colder and the place covered in thicker ice. The atmosphere becoming like an ice storm.

"People are alone both when they're born and when they die! Love is...Love is...love is useless!" Berthier screams as her hair began to be covered in ice. Her whole body began to turn to ice. All them began to get really cold, ice being thrown at them and try to stop her. Sailor Moon can barely lift her arm off to fire off the attack.

"Stop it! Berthier please stop!"

"Koan!?" Everyone turn to see Koan got in the room. She got in at the right moment when Berthier fire off the attack

Koan pants and running in the cold fierce wind. As she approaches to get to her older sister. "Dear sister please stop this!"

"Koan?" Berthier stared with a hard look. "So? You have come to laugh at me, too!"

"No!" Koan walks up to her. Wince being hit with ice and got her cheek scratch. Along with her arm and parts of her skirt. "Berthier you're not alone in this!"

"A traitor like you could never understand what I'm feeling!" Berthier wince and wanted to look away. Didn't want to see this traitor face. Didn't want to see the face of her baby sister that looked up to her and the other two. How her mind now want to think back in the life they all had. How it was always them. Along with couldn't look away as the ice surrounding her neck.

"No, Berthier. I can understand how forlorn you are at heart! How you felt used, hurt and betrayed by those we loved!"

"Shut up!"

A bigger ice of block hit Koan and she let out a cry of pain.

"Koan!"

"Berthier stop it!" Mercury yelled at her and they all quickly duck down again. "Your sister wants to help you! We all want to help you!"

"Berthier!" Koan force herself up and pants. "Please don't do this! Please I want you to live! Humans are so, so strange. With their faults. With their recklessness. But they have the capacity for incredible deep love. The same deep love we all had long time ago! That was taken and used against us. To make us forget what we once cherished! Berthier please come back!"

Berthier eyes widen as she stare at her little sister. Risking her own life. Who is getting hurt from her to try and reach out to her? Who doesn't want her to leave this world? Eyes began to tear up from the mix emotions she felt. Too many passing her mind to comprehend but was love. But also sadness. For herself and everything they done. What she was about to do.

A tear slide down her cheek.

The icy winds stopped. The ice surrounding Berthier body fades away. Not as cold as it once was like Berthier emotion. Yet, there was still ice around.

Berthier sniff and wipe a tear away. Let loose a smile she had before yet seem real. "Will I also be able to that love? That love we once lost and buried away?"

Koan look at her and smile. Then runs towards her and hugs her.

"I hurt you." Berthier whispered and wrap her arms around her sister. Press her face in that hair. Wanted to almost laugh as she still kept the signature cat buns. "I'm so sorry. I love you my little Koan."

"I-I'm taller than you Berthier." Koan chuckles and hug her back.

"Still the little sister." Berthier chuckle tiredly.

Soon all the ice vanish and look like a normal room again.

The door slams open and Molly appeared with Luna. "Are you all okay?"

"I think we are." Sailor Moon smile a bit and motion to the siblings.

"Sailor Moon." Koan looked at her.

"Right." Sailor Moon nods and look at Berthier. "MOON CYSTAL POWER REFRESH!"

"Still sounds lame."

"Rather lame then useless advice."

We now have Berthier in the picture! Two sisters now with us! Let's see if we can get the rest before something terrible could happen.

Yes, Error already took care of Berthier situation too like documents and all that.

Oh, Ami did win the Chess tournament.
