Chapter One: Winter Sun

The snow shifted under his feet, sending up a crunch as it compacted under his weight.

Not that he had much weight, he was a skeleton monster after all.

At least what the locals told him.

Solar breathed deeply, and glared at the remaining space between himself and his insulated cabin.

Such a distance, mind you it only seemed that way due to swirling snow promising another deep blizzard about to arrive and he was pulling a sled full of supplies home.

Suddenly his sled became lighter, and he sighed in relief spotting the blue parka of Sans.

"Your a life saver Sans," Solar said grinning.

"Come on kid, lets get you home before you hits. The Guards say its going to be bad," Sans said.

"I only went out for certain food supplies, otherwise I'd be in trouble," Solar admitted.

"Kid, you know Paps and I would have welcomed you if you cane across issues. Everyone knows these storms are unnatural, the humans are getting desperate," Sans sighed.

"I know, but I like being able to do things myself," Solar said blushing, he gave a small cheer as they finally got to his home. Quickly the two of them got the supplies inside, including a large caribou he'd hunted that would mean meat and other products.

The last thing they did was tie down the sled, as neither wanted it blown away and wrecked.

"By the way, happy birthday," Sans said, plopping a bundle wrapped in spare hide.

"Thank you," Solar said blushing.

It wasn't his actual birthday, but they'd based it on the day he'd been found.

Solar didn't know where he came from or his age or even his name, he just remembered waking up to endless white snowfields and the sun blazing above.

He was lucky Papyrus had been walking afar for certain herbs, the taller skeleton had quickly bundled him up and swiftly headed home.

The truth had quickly come out about his unknown origins and amnesia, Sans of course had Named him Solar as he'd been found on of the super rare clear shied days the sun shone and the fact he had golden eye lights and a golden tinge to his bones. The next year he'd lived with the brother's, learning to survive in a rather dangerous world.

He'd been sad to leave there cabin, but the place was too small for three people.

He was ever so grateful when they'd pulled the community together to help build his new cabin, and since then he'd lived here.

"You going to open it," Sans teased.

"Got lost in thought," Solar admitted, then carefully untied the bundle not wanting to damage valuable hide.

"Ohhhhh." he breathed, as plush thick fur and hide was revealed, unfolding it he found himself with a long white hooded cape, the hood and cape lined with warm white fur that felt as if it came from a fox. Underneath that was a pair of thick long sleeved hide shirt that was a golden brown and matching pants and a pair of boots that's matched the cape set.

Of course, at the bottom was a pair of new mittens also white.

"Sans, there beautiful. But you shouldn't have, I know who hard it is to get white hide and fur locally," Solar said eyelights wide.

"Kid your worth it, enjoy," Sans said, Solar hugged the skeleton.

The wind shrieked in warning.

"I have to go, papyrus will worry if I don't get home soon," Sans told him.

"Thank you," Solar said sniffling.

"Happy Birthday kid," Sans said, then slipped out of the cabin.

OoOoO

Sans sighed and stared at the ever cloudy sky, snow swirled around him ever violently.

He was glad that Solar didn't realize how bad things were becoming, monster villages were vanishing in snow so deep there dust couldn't be found.

Food was getting scarce.

Sans remembered when the world wasn't a snowy wasteland, when clear skies and days with sun couldn't be counted on a hand with fingers with fingers left free.

The humans greed and hatred ruined everything, they'd started this and now even they couldn't stop it.

How long till even this village was covered by endless snow.

It wasn't fair to Solar, but there was nothing Sans could do to help him escape this hell.

After all the kid definitely didn't belong here, after all the kid wasn't aging and had looked around ten for as long as he'd lived here.

The wind shrieked again sending sting gusts against him.

He short cut home.
