Chapter Eleven: Walking Forward

Nightmare fought the urge to sneeze.

The mould here was disgusting, humans seemed to abandon things to often.

Yet he would not be here very long, as a monster with magic packing away all these ancient books would be child's play.

Ac Chooooo

Nightmare sniffed, he better not be coming down with allergies.

Mind you it was amazing this place still existed, he'd only found it when he felt a faint trace of magic deep underground in Dreamtale. Magic alone kept the books in one piece, he'd yet to find out why the humans had abandoned it long before the Tree of feelings created himself and his brother.

That wasn't important, what was important was the human mages books on bonds.

Magical bonds between twins.

He needed to find Dream, he missed his brother so much it burned.

They'd been brought into existence as two sides of a balance, two beings born from one soul.

Nightmare should have died with Dream, but the cursed apples kept him tied to life.

The guardian of Negativity wasn't very proud of the next couple hundred years, as in his driven insanity at loosing his other half he tried to reunite themselves in death.

But the apples forced him to live, to heal with no trace of any action he took.

Then he fell into a pit apathy, barely moving barely doing anything.

Why should he?

Everything he touched turned to ash.

He was living as a wondering homeless beggar when he was slapped back to reality, the balance plunged so quickly it left him breathless for several moments.

It was shocking.

It was horrifying.

He was shameful.

He had failed, and here he was failing even more.

Nightmare hadn't done his job in forever, Dream would have been so sad.

That day he left the alleys, and did his damn job.

Of course it wasn't easy, he had to keep both sides of the balance in check instead of one. He was driving himself into exhaustion, which wasn't any better.

Meeting Killer helped, then Dust and Killer then Cross.

Each one entering his life, making things easier and better.

Walking forward is what he did now, through his endless grief.

Then a miracle...

Dream...

Dream was alive again.

His other half, his reason for living.

His twin.

Dream who's presence flickered in and out off existence, slowly growing stronger.

Nightmare had to find him before his powers grew to strong, as an amnesia Guardian of Positivity who had no clue how to control them.

"Hold on Dream, I failed you once..." Nightmare whispered.

OoOoO

Well now, what do you say chance?

Sure, he needs this chance and some luck right
