Okay so before you get started on this chapter I just wanted to say that I know this was suppose to be the last chapter but I realized it was going to be way to long of a chapter and it would take a few more days to update. So I just decided to split the last chapter in half and hope that the next chapter wraps things up like I plan.

With that said, I will start posting the edit version chapter by chapter while working on the other half of this chapter. So if you want be on the look out for those edited chapters they will have the editors name at the beginning or maybe a symbol on chapter so it could be easier but I would have to figure out what to put.

The sound of screaming erupted though the hospital and it wasn't long before the sound of gunshots followed. All heads turned towards the door where the sound of rapid footsteps and voices yelling came from the other side of the door. More gun fire was heard but this time further away and outside. Adira, Chad, Tyler, Madison and Jade all looked out the window, where flashes of light caught their attention.

Across the hospital parking lot between the two other buildings, they could see many human figures running straight for something. Their eyes go from across the parkway to the space they could see between the building they were in and the front building. They not only see men standing out there in the middle of the road with what looked like guns but were they shooting at the human figures. They continued to watch as they've seen the four soldiers firing and none of the targets were stopping when one of them went down. A scream of pain and horror echoed through the buildings ringing off the walls.

When multiple bullets went into the running humans it was then that they realized the targets weren't human but infected.

"These dumbasses can't fire for shit." Adira commented as she watched the remaining three soldiers back up quickly as the infected got closer and firing but not doing much as they are only getting their bodies or missing all together.

Adira turned away from the window and opened the door. Everyone else followed.

"What the hell is going on?" Richie stammered as he was pushed against the door, people zigzagging past each other with the look of fear in their eyes.

"Infected are attacking." Adira breathed out watching people run heavy breathing filling their ears and children weeping, obviously confused and scared, "Richie, you and Madison and Jade grab the children and get them in a safe room." She demanded quickly receiving a nod from Richie, "Chad and Tyler, come on."

Richie and Madison didn't question anything instead they quickly went to work, taking Jade with them and grabbing the children they see while her, Chad and Tyler raced downstairs to the lobby. Down in the lobby they see guards fully alert and in position: some at the front door both inside and out, others kneeling in the middle of the lobby their weapons pointing at the door, all of them ready to fire if necessary. All the civilians were standing behind them huddled together fear written all over their faces. Runners were on the both side and a little bit behind the soldiers, knives out and ready for whatever might come throw those doors. All of them were in position, the runners held their knives out in front of them.

Chad and Adira didn't understand why they were waiting for something to happen. They didn't understand why they weren't taking action and doing something to keep those killing machines out of the hospital. Tyler didn't understand it either. Adira spotted Eva standing in the middle of two soldier's right in the middle of the lobby in position, just like the rest.

"Eva, what's going on?" Adira requested as soon as she got to her.

"A wave of infected are coming our way." Eva answered unaware they were already outside attacking the soldiers outside and got one of them, "They must of followed us back. I could have sworn we ditched them in the city." She informed more to herself than Adira.

"They're already outside!" She said louder than intended, "They took one of yours already. Three others aren't going to stop those things."

Eva fell silent a lump got caught in her throat as she heard they lost another. She quickly shook it off as she spoke again.

"Adira, we are not allowed to go out there." Eva told her shaking her head, "Plus, Ciras doesn't want to risk losing more than we have to."

"Chad!" Adira called out, "Tyler, come on!" She motioned for them to follow her before she pushed past the soldiers kneeling.

"Adira!" Eva screamed out trying to call her back, "Don't!"

Neither, Chad, Tyler nor Adira listened; instead, they ran up to soldiers that was standing at the side and took their shot guns and ran out the door before Ciras could stop them. They rushed out to the open road where bullets were flying and growling was heard. They got to the road right at the time a soldier went down and was fighting off an infected.

Adira immediately picked up speed flipping the gun around to the point where she was holding the muzzle, skipped a little and swung the gun into the infected; the butt of the gun smashing into the temple of the infected knocking it off the soldier. Adira hopped over the person flipped the gun back to its original position, in a smooth motion, stepping on the infected chest, positioned the gun properly against her shoulder, aimed and fired blowing the head into pieces. The kickback made Adira lose balance and go back her leg lifting off the infected chest.

A hand was quickly set on Adira's lower back and pushed her forward, keeping her from falling back. A growl made her look up and take another shot at the infected coming in her direction. Again, the kickback caused her to fall backwards but was immediately stopped when the same hand stayed on her back. She looked to her side to see Tyler right next to her taking aim and shooting. She turns around to the soldier who fell and saw William on the ground completely in shock. She didn't hesitate to quickly grab his hand and lift him up.

"You okay?" She asked him as he got up breathing heavy.

"Yeah thanks." William thanked her still in complete shock and out of breath, "But you shouldn't be out here. Ciras doesn't allow that."

"Oh screw that one of your men went down already how long does he expect you to be able to keep them away?" Adira shouted over the growls and gun shots, "You three wouldn't be able to kill these things out without losing your lives. Even then there would still be more to come."

Adira whipped around to a growl that seemed to close. Her eyes were met by two infected that they caught the attention of. She stepped to the side as one came running at her and stuck her foot out, tripping the infected. She swung the butt of the gun back hitting the other infected coming at her right in the face knocking it on its back. She immediately stabbed the muzzle of the gun into the infected, at her feet, open mouth as it tried reaching up for her.

With the butt of the gun, she went up to the other infected on its back and began smashing the gun on its head over and over again until it stopped moving. Right next to her, Chad quickly stuck a gun right in the mouth of an infected coming towards him letting out a raspy scream and pulled the trigger. Half the infected head came off and the infected went down. Their jet black blood come squirting out and sprayed others around them.

Adira ran up to William, who was aiming at a bunch of random infected and firing the handgun, "I'm out of bullets you wouldn't happen to have any for this gun would you?" She quickly asked taking out another infected coming from her side. It would have been smart to take some bullets with them when they left but if they didn't come rushing out at the time they did who knows whether William would still be alive or not.

"Actually..." He stated, firing another bullet before looking over his shoulder at her, "I do. Right hip pouch there should be some still in there."

William was wearing a belt with four pouches attached to them: one on each hip and two up front. Adira sprinted towards him hopping over an dead infected and opening the right pouch and reached in it as William blocked her and continued to fire. She felt multiple huge bullets but only pulled out two.

"Cover me!" She ordered into William's ear as she leaned down and opened the bolt ejecting the last used bullet from its content. Smoke quickly rushed out of the chamber after the bullet. She wasted no time putting in the two bullets before standing up and standing next to William.

The three soldiers, including William, and Chad, Tyler and Adira fought together. The other two soldiers had shot gun bullets in their pouches as well, which Tyler and Chad freely started using.

"Hold us from the back so we don't fall backwards because of the kickback." Adira ordered William and the two other soldiers, bashing the gun into an infected, "Pull us away and cover us when we run out of bullets and stay close together. We do not separate." She yelled at them.

They nodded, William getting behind Adira and the other two getting behind Chad and Tyler. Tyler, Chad and Adira all pulled up their guns up, putting the butt of the gun against their shoulders and taking aim. William and the other soldiers grab hold of the teen's shirt and put their forearm against their upper and lower back for even more support. They took a few steps forward and started taking shots at the infected coming at them.

Adira fired her first shot, she pumped the Forend back the gun spitting out the first shell. When she pushed the Forend forward, the Forend got stuck and the handle came off. Adira cursed to herself before tossing the handle away and taking hold of the Forend pulling it back and pushing it forward with more strength allowing it to completely go forward.

"Adira!" William screamed causing Adira to look up immediately and lift her gun.

She took the shot her body jolting back just slightly, "Pull back!" She screamed and all of them took huge steps back.

The three teens went behind the three soldiers and started putting more bullets in their guns. The soldiers covered them as they were taking random shots at the infected trying to take out as many of them as they can. William took his last shot before his hand gun made a clicking noise indicating he ran out of bullets. He went through his pouches in search for more bullets that he could fill his magazine with.

"Shit." He cursed himself as he couldn't find any more bullets, "I'm out of bullets." He informed Adira, who was trying to get the pump forward but was unable to due to how big the gun was.

He looked up seeing even more coming towards him his eyes widen in fear, "Adira." He called out his voice cracking as her name was covered in panic.

The sound of his voice made Adira frustrated as she continued to fidget with the pump of the gun. She looked up for a second and saw the evil in the faces rushing towards them. Hungry for flesh was circulating in their faces while panic and fear ran through William's and Adira's. William took a step back almost stepping on Adira, who had the butt of the gun between her arm and body, as he watched the infected inch closer towards them.

"Any day now!" William rushed Adira.

"The stupid thing is stuck." She yelled back at him, "Give me a few more seconds." She continued to fidget trying to get it unstuck.

William wanted to run away from the infected just a few feet away from them getting closer and closer with every breath he took. He wanted to turn and run back to the safety in the walls of the hospital but his legs wouldn't listen or move. Instead, they stood there planted to the ground only allowing William to gaze at the infected ready to feed on his now drained and cold flesh. The way he watched the scene unfold it was like someone put the scene in front of him in slow motion waiting to see the exact moment where they rip open his flesh with their long large sharp teeth and wide mouth. The only sound he could hear was his own heart beating as it skipped a beat and his breathing slowing down.

The closer the infected got the more fear ran through his veins and the more demonic spark he found that the infected had in their deep dark eyes. It wasn't until the infected closed the gap between the three that his heart completely stopped then he completely froze all together.

It was when the infected took a leap towards William that he had heard the double click from pumping the gun. The sound of the gun shot going off rang through his eardrums as the leaping infected was shoved to the side its head going up and its dark blood splattering out from the back of its head followed. William jumped a little at the sudden loud noise as his eye followed the infected as it hit the floor while two others fell on top from Tyler taking shots at two coming at him.

Another pump of the shot gun and two more infected at the same time got their chest blown to pieces leaving a huge cavity in their chest. They were shoved to the side inches away from William and landed on another infected. Slowly, he heard his name being called but due to the ringing in his ear, the growling flesh eating monsters and the scream of others he could register it in his head. His name has been called multiple times before the ringing immediately came to a halt and he was pulled by his arm.

He heard his name loud and clear over all the chaos. When he turned around, he was met with Adira standing right in front of him. His name was coming from her lips.

"William!" Adira shouted, "You okay?"

William slowly processed what she was saying before nodding his head slowly.

"I'm out!" She informed him holding up the shot gun.

"Me too!" Chad yelled running over to them, "I'm out."

"So am I!" Tyler pulled the trigger multiple times but nothing ever came out and the gun only made a slight clicking sound.

"What do we do now?" William asked as Chad swung the gun at an infected heading towards them.

Adira looked around to see if there was anything useful to them but saw only dead bodies all over the road. She looked back to see that there was only a few that was lying on the floor closer to the hospital entrance.

Maybe they could make a run for it back to safety but if they did and left the infected alive then they would most likely follow them there. That is something Adira didn't want and couldn't afford to do. When she turned around, she caught sight of something coming after her so she immediately swung the gun back, over her head and down on the target crushing the skull inwards. It was such a hard blow that they could hear the skull cracking in multiple places. Adira continued to bash the gun into the infected head in over and over again making sure it was down and would stay down. By the time she was done, she was on her knees straddling the dead infected. When she looked up at next to her, she caught sight of a CRKT the Natural 2 Folding Knife strapped to William's leg

"I'm ganna borrow this!" She told him wrapping her hand around the handle of the blade and pulling it out of its pouch.

She put the handle of the gun right on top of the muzzle of the gun and checked it out looking at the length that the knife would provide for her. She saw it would keep enough distance between her and the infected so she looked around for anything that will hold it in place. She was too busy looking at the gun she didn't notice the infected a few inches away from her. She saw William run away but wasn't paying attention to where exactly he was going.

She didn't even have a chance to defend herself when an infected leaped at her knocking her on her side and the gun slipping out of her hands sliding a few feet away from her as the gun took the knife with it. Adira let out a breath as she hit the floor and she instinctively put her arm up to keep the infected from sinking their sharp blood splattered teeth in her skin. The female infected, who's white suit was torn and dirty as if she's been dragged through the dirt, scratch marks covered her from head to toe and dried blood stained her dark skin and suit, started rapidly throwing her arms up and down trying to scratch Adira but the teen held up her hands stopping the women from mauling her to death.

Adira turned her head to the side away from the infected own face trying to get the stench of the infected breath away from her nose as its breath blew covered her face. Adira closed her eyes as she felt cold liquid drip on to her cheek and run down her chin and make a tiny pool on her neck.

A loud whip followed by bone crushing sound flowed through the chaotic air. There was no more cold liquid dripping onto Adira's cheek giving her the feeling she should open her eyes but she didn't. She just laid there until she knew it was okay. A loud sound of something heavy hitting the grown ran through her ears. A few seconds after the sound erupted, a pair of tiny hands wrapped around Adira's arms almost making her flinch a little.

"Are you okay?" A tiny voice rang through her ears, "Adira, are you okay?" She heard the voice crack.

She immediately opened her eyes at the familiar voice and was met by the sight of Madison kneeling over her. Madison got up on her feet and pulled a shock Adira up.

"What are you doing here?" Was Adira's first response, "You shouldn't be out here? You are suppose to be helping Richie put all the kids in a room."

"It's done. They are all safe in a room." Madison said quickly before grabbing the gun she threw on the floor and upper cutting an infected with the gun sending it backwards, "I saw you go down and William was helping Tyler while Chad and Ryan are on the other side." When she saw the infected she just upper cut start to crawl she beat its head open with the back of the gun, "I couldn't let you fight them off yourself with no help."

"You have to get back inside." Adira ordered her fear if Madison didn't she would end up just like the people attacking them but it was then she realized Madison could be of help, "If you want to help go find me tape strong tape that could tape that gun and a knife together."

"Okay. Tape, okay." She repeated so she remembered what she needed, "I'll be back." She gave Adira the gun and sprinted towards the hospital.

When Adira was about to turn around to kill some more infected, she heard a loud scream coming from Madison. She whipped around to see an infected that got past them was racing after her. She ran towards the knife she dropped a few feet ahead of her and picked it up. She pulled the knife over her head before throwing it with full force before the soldiers at the door fired at her. The knife cut through the air like nothing spinning around and around minutes before it locked itself onto the back of the infected head. The infected went down face first into the floor. Madison looked over her shoulder to see it laying on the floor emotionless then looked ahead running into the hospital screaming that she needed tape.

Everyone but the soldiers and runners ran around the hospital in search for any tape they could find. The soldiers and runners stood in the same position in the same place they always been in just to guard the front doors from any intruders. Eventually, a woman yelled over all the noise.

"I found tape!" She announced.

It was a blonde woman. She was tall and had emerald green eyes that stood out from her light skin. Her name was Rena, she usually helped Veronica with keeping things organized even sometimes teaching the young ones everything that is important to know.

Madison ran to Rena without hesitation to see the tape she held up.

"Would this work?" Rena asked holding up duck tape hoping it's what she needed.

"Yes!" Madison cheered, "Is there any more?"

"Yeah, there in the janitor's closet." Rena informed, leading Madison to the Janitor's closet, where one more of duck tape was sitting on top of a shelf.

"Thanks." Madison grabbed the duck tape off the shelf, rushed past Rena and out the hospital with the two rolls of duck tape in each hand.

When she got to the scene of war and blood more infected were lying on the floor then before but more kept coming. Madison found Adira among the soldiers keeping the infected from getting past them and to the hospital. She rushed over to Adira, whose back was turned, and gave her a small shove to indicate someone was behind her.

"I found tape!" Madison shouted over the noises holding up both hands with the tape in them.

"Good job, Madison." Adira whispered to her before ordering the soldiers around, "Cover me!" She yelled to one of the soldier and William was the one to step ahead of her blocking the infected from getting to her.

She kneeled down with the gun and the folding knife in front of her and Madison kneeling with her. Adira took the tape in her hands and peeled the edge of the tape, stuck it on the knife handle before positioning the knife where it's suppose to go and wrapping the tape around the muzzle of the gun. Madison helped her keep the gun and knife in place while Adira tapped them together with enough tape to secure the two together. She ripped the tape off with her teeth and hands Madison back the roll of tape. Once done, Adira started giving Madison orders on what to do.

"Okay. Hopefully this works." Adira mumbled to no one in particular, "Madison, go to Chad and Tyler and do the same thing help them tape together their guns and knives, okay?"

Madison nodded, "Okay." She replied sounding as if she's out of breath, she didn't wait for any further instruction instead just ran to the one of the two boys she saw first.

Adira saw Madison talking to Tyler before both of them got behind the soldier that was there and started putting the two weapons together. Adira got up, ran in front of William and stabbed an infected right between the eyes before it could get any closer to the pair. As soon as Adira pulled the blade from the infected head, she almost immediately started killing more and more of the monsters making the whole thing look easy to William, who was just standing a few feet away staring at her.

Adira noticed Tyler and Chad getting more into the zone and joining her once they got their knives strapped to their gun. The two boys joined Adira up front while the three men in the back watched that no infected got passed. Madison ran up behind Adira, who just tripped an infected and plunged the knife into the dazed infected temple.

"I'm done!" Madison reported to Adira from behind.

Adira cast a glance at Madison, "Good now get back inside now." She commanded her.

"I could help out here." Madison tried convincing her to let her stay.

"Now, Madison!" She scolded, "Tell the others to turn off all the main lights. I rather not take the chance if these things are attracted to light like moths. Tell everyone to get back and into the dark but still arms up."

Madison turned on her heels and ran back making sure no infected was following her that time on her way to the hospital. While the rest of her group stayed outside protecting the hospital from being overran by the fleshing eat monsters. It wasn't long before the bright lights in the hospital turned off floor by floor until it was but still a small dim light shined around the halls. The dim lights are bright enough to allow people in the hospital to walk around and be aware of their surrounding but still dark enough to the point where it won't attract so much attention.

What was only an hour or so felt as if it was days since they've been fighting against the infected. Finally, when they narrowed it down to at least six standing infected, the road was covered in a blanket of dark blood and bodies of the dead ones. The six people out there were exhausted and out of breath. They have kept the infected from getting to the hospital although some did get past, they always were capable of putting them down before they went any further then the turn they needed to take in order to get to the hospital. That's where the dead bodies stopped. Right at the end of the corner they needed to get past in order to get to the rest of the survivors.

"What do we do if one of these comes back like the others?" Tyler asked as he striked an infected in the chest before striking for the head.

"Focus on these five first." Adira replied swinging her gun at two infected slicing both their heads off, "Then let's talk."

William struggled to keep one infected still as he held an infected down for Chad to kill and the other two soldiers bashing the other two heads together crushing the skulls in stopping the movements of the infected swinging arms and kicking legs. William stood up straight his back cracking in the process, he bent over his hands on his knees as he tried to slow his breathing.

He turned his head to the side to look at the city just a few miles away from where they were. He spotted something moving close to the city but couldn't make it out since it was too far away. He rubbed his eyes hoping that would help thinking he was just seeing things but as soon as he looked back they appeared closer than before. He looked over at Chad, who was walking by him, and grabbed him turning him around the way he was. He pointed the dark cloud moving around hoping he wasn't the only one seeing things.

"What is that?" Chad squinted and leaned in a little thinking that would help but it was a bit dark to see until it kept coming closer and the dark cloud kept growing, "Oh hell." He whispered as he knew what it was, "Hey, guys." He warned the others and pointed them out.

"Shit." Tyler cursed, "Not more." He sighed.
