The heroes appeared in front of a large fortress whose entrance appeared to be a human skull with devil horns protruding from both sides. The walls surrounding were rather tall, so climbing wasn't an option. As a bird flew over the castle wall, it was immediately vaporized by an unseen lightning cannon.
The door was tightly shut, and an eye protruded from the ceiling. "Who's there" it said in a robotic tone. Garnet summoned her Gauntlets, and Falcon Punched the door off its hinges with more force than 500 pounds of TNT before ripping the eye off the wall. "Show-off" Pearl muttered. They went inside to find a long hallway. A speaker screeched for a moment before Michael's voice rang over the PA system. "Are you that desperate to prove your inferiority, Robert? You can't even make it past the front door without your friends! Well, you AND your comrades have to make it past my challenges before you even have a chance to face me!" he taunted before laughing his ever-so-irritating laugh. Luckily, Garnet fired her gauntlet as if it were a missile and destroyed the speaker.
The first challenge was a bunch of domes sitting above a pit of barbed wire. It was rather easy. The next was a bridge with multi-color paths. Robert took out a water balloon and threw it at the bridge where two of the colors touched. Strangely enough, when it popped, the residue only stayed on one color, while the rest passed through the other as if it didn't exist at all. It was, again, rather easy, until they reached a certain point.
A giant R.O.B. dropped from above. Robert fired his Zapper, Steven used his shield, but the robot seemed to be invincible. Then Robert had an idea. "Throw me up!" Robert said. Garnet picked him up. "With pleasure." She said before heaving him to the shoulder. Its arms turned around to pick up a large spinning top. Robert climbed to the neck and drew his sword. He used it as a crowbar to release the head from the body. The shoulders began to spin violently, and he was about to be spun off, but he remembered that he was in front of Lapis, as well as all his friends. Eventually, with enough strength, the robot's head popped off like an action figure's head and fell to the ground with a satisfying thud. "Most impressive!" Pearl applauded.
The rest of the fortress's challenges increased in difficulty, but not by much. When they reached a certain point, the challenges seemed to go up rather than forward. They were little more than simply destroy the sentries that prevented you from going up.
When they finally reached the top, Michael was waiting for them. "Wow, you are persistent vermin!" Michael retorted. "Well, now I can kill you myself, brother." He charged his cannon shot and aimed at Robert. It was really windy up there, but nothing anybody couldn't manage. "I know why you hate me, you think I'm the reason Mom and Dad abandoned you. You think I caused all your problems. You think killing me will fix everything...but it fixes nothing. I know you think killing me will make you superior, but it won't. It'll just make you a puppet. A puppet without a purpose. You'll just become Hillary Clinton Jr. Now do you really want that?" Robert explained. "And I know what you really want—this!"
Robert pulled out a photo of a younger Michael, alongside a married couple who looked very similar to Michael and Robert, although they looked almost nothing like their parents, standing next to what appeared to be a much younger Robert, Michael, and a girl they never met. Michael stopped charging his cannon and took the photograph. He examined it carefully. It brought a tear to his eyes.
"Where did you get this?" Michael asked.
"From our old house...our real house...I stopped there on the way to...You know what, I'll tell you the details later" Robert explained.
He retracted his arm cannon. He tore off his face plate, which really hurt and left a scar, although Michael didn't care. He used the sword that was given to him, and cut off his bracers, which didn't hurt as much, but still hurt.
Lastly, he took off his rocket boots, which didn't sting at all. He edged closer to Robert, and wrapped his arms around him. Robert returned the hug and healed his brother's wounds. The skyscraper lowered at a slow rate, with the boys still hugging.
"C'mon, let's go home," Robert said.
"Yeah, sure," said Michael.
As they all headed back, unbeknownst to them, Yellow Diamond was watching the whole thing from her surveillance system.
"Your betrayal won't go unpunished, human," she growled.
To be continued...
