Chapter XVII: Happy Birth-date part 2
Robert paid the bully no mind, and made his way to the barn. Luckily for him, there was a ladder and a second floor, which supported the truck, or at least what was left of it. He opened the driver's side door, and found that the only way to make it to Lapis, was to climb through the window in the back. It took a few minutes, but he managed to fit through the window. Lapis laughed at the sight of it. When he finally made it through, Robert was confused as to why Lapis was laughing. "What's so funny?" Robert asked. "Just the way you looked crawling through that window." Robert blushed in embarrassment. "It's not like I can fly or teleport up here." he said to himself. There was silence for about thirty seconds. "Where are you from? Hong Kong, Paris, Beijing? Heaven?"
"A magic Mirror" she said. Robert was confused again. "I must've been in there for a thousand years, at least." Robert realized she was talking about a mirror he has in his bag and he took it out "You mean this one?" He asked. "What do you plan on doing with it?" she asked, slightly worried he might use it to trap her. Robert held the mirror like a throwing dagger. "How far do you think I can throw it?" He asked. "Maybe three hundred feet, give or take." she answered. Robert heaved the mirror over the trees. He then lobbed a fireball the size of a baseball at it. The two airborne objects collided, making a fiery explosion in midair. Robert sat down and watched the smoke clear. Lapis saw this as an opportunity to make her first move. She leaned over and softly wrapped her arms around Robert. Robert wondered what she was doing. Without any explanation, she kissed him on the cheek, leaving him in a swirl of confusion and a blue kiss mark on his cheek.
Robert crawled his way down when Steven arrived with his father. Steven immediately took notice on Robert's kiss mark. "Someone has a cru~ush!" he teased. "Just shut up and eat your cake" Robert retorted with a smile. When it came time to eat cake, Robert didn't eat any at all. Lapis saw and brought him a plate. "Eat some, it's delicious."she said. Robert wanted to decline, but he couldn't resist her.
........
It tasted just like the Cookie Cats he loved as a child. It almost made him want to cry. He went back on the truck's bed, only this time he got a ladder. Robert watched Steven open his presents from up there. By far, Steven's favorite was the Nintendo Switch Robert bought for him. With it, he got Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (complete with Fighter's Pass for Pirahna Plant DLC), Super Mario Oddyssey and Bros. U Deluxe, Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and the new Dog-Copter game, which he pre-ordered before he was frozen. Lapis was next to Robert while he was opening them. "I like that you would go that extra mile for Steven." Lapis said. "He's my brother, and brothers have to have each other's backs."Robert responded.
Michael was eavesdropping from the roof of the barn. "Yeah, right 'Brothers have to have each other's backs,' my foot! Don't worry, I'll give you the justice you rightfully deserve, traitor!" He said to himself as he ran away.
To be continued...
Question for the chapter: How should Robert learn the next melody?
(Craftfury already answered this, and I'm not going to say what his answer is, because he probably wants to remain anonymous)
