Chapter Two
KALIM'S POV
It was getting late but I could still not leave. I had a feeling of dread that something more was going on. It was probably paranoia. The elders were worried i was not performing my duties well since I was not born and raised in the Royal way. I had nothing else to waste my time on. My grandfather who was ny only relative alive cherish his solitude and i did not want to be a bother for him.
I put my hand into the water again and felt a surge. It meant something amd I just could not put my fingers on it...literally.
"Electrifying, isn't it?" A voice said from behind me.
I jerked away slightly and faced the speaker. It was a woman. That was easy to make out but I couldn't see her face quite clearly thanks to the bright moon.
"Who are you?" I demanded, ready for the worst. She could be the killer for all I knew.
The woman threaded forward, her eyes Luminous blue, ocean like.
"You stink of Ravaii!" She spat, slurred her words in an irritable manner.
My eyes scanned her, she wasn't holding any weapon but one thing was certain she was supernatural.
I channelled my Vita and felt my hands sear hot with light. I hoped it was enough to scare her.
The woman gave a toothed grin, her teeth like small knives, all of them.
Suddenly something lashed tightly on my neck, cold and slippery. Before I could react, I felt my feets leave the floor. The woman laughed manoacly as this happened. I held tightly to whatever was hanging me.
My hands went through it with each attempt, leaving my hands wet.
Water!!
This woman had the ability to manipulate water but... How?
Despite the obstruction on my neck which was snuffing life out of me, i managed to throw a fireball at her.
Her shriek followed and the hold on my neck loosened. I dropped at least six feets down. My legs felt wobbly when i landed but I dared not waste precious time on that.
I hurled two more balls of light in her path. The strange woman blocked one using water but the second hit her and tossed her into the water.
Winning, I charged into the water, splashing roughly and smearing the clean water with mud as it got deeper and deeper. The woman was nowhere to be found.
Where did she go?
I wasnt left pondering for long as the woman appeared before me now covered in grey scales that Covered half of her body.
I immediately channelled my Vita as orbs of light filled my palms.
The woman seemed to have a lot more than that as she screeched at me.
The screech was like being hit by a heavy duty truck as I felt the sound waves hit my body and propel me out of the water and tumnling on the pebble stones and rocks.
I felt sore over , my body ached and throbed all over. The woman remained in tge water flashing me another toothed grin before sinking into Adam's ale.
My eyes remained fogged as I remained there waiting for help or death. The darkness visited and I let it in, i embraced it.
The aroma of burning wood roused me.
I was in my Chambers and covered in bandages.
"I see you have awakened." Shedrach said in a mild tone.
I tried to stand but the pain was unbearable so i collapsed back to the forest green duvet.
"What happened?"
I didn't know haoew i was going to reply Shedrach, my memory was a bit hazy but I still had a clear image of the woman. Her scales. The tail and the scream. Something I had learnt in Greek mythology. She was a Siren.
"I think I was attacked by a siren."
Shedrach face turned pale and i watched him swallow hard.
"Are you sure?"
It could not be a dream. The water troped around my neck... It was reality.
"I'm sure but I never knew there were other supernaturals. Did you know of their existence?" I asked Shedrach but he was too deep in thought to even reply.
It was a sign he knew something.
"What?" I quizzed, worried sick.
"You ever the prophesy in your book and how you were warned that a Ravaii would free Orvinus?"
"Yes?"
"I think you've freed it."
It was absurd. I threw the skull into the river months ago and it was probably somewhere in the ocean by now.
"What makes you believe that?" I asked.
"Because the Ravaii ancestors had used the skull as a prison for...dangerous supernaturals."
"Dangerous supernaturals?"
"Yes! Supernaturals like sirens."
AVERY'S POV
The night had set in and Henry was tucked in, eyes closed and in dream nine already. I found it difficult to sleep. Not with the thought that something marked me.
The gentle gust brought nothing but fear to my spine and I reached out to Henry's arm saying the words Damian.
Reminding myself that Damian was gone brought tears to my eyes. I wiped them off and left the small and crampy bedroom for sitting room.
The window was opened and was sending dust and dried leaves into the living room. I didn't realize we had left the window open and put humans at risk. Surely a thief could sneak imside but it would be his bad. I shut it then I noticed a scratch on the glass.
You're seeing things Avery! I calmed my paranoid mind. I eas only seeing things. A good talk would really ease my tension. I checked where I left my phone overnight to charge, a bad habit I wasn't ready to let go of.
Me:Hello Matilda.
Matilda: How you doing?
Me:Great.
Something suddenly shattered in the kitchen. I fumed at the thought of my priceless glassware breaking. It had to be Henry.
Will be back soon😊, I sent.
I dropped my phone and went into the kitchen.
Everyone expects to see your guilty spouse or children when something breaks in tge kitchen but not me. A snow white wolf almost the size of a bear faced me. I was frozen in place as I looked into it's eyes. It might be the man who marked me, Stalker wolf.
My fangs retracted and I gave the intuder a burning glare.
The wolf did nothing and soon began to shift. It's human eyes returned, two sphere's of blue skies and elegant white skin, unmistakably a woman' and rich golden hair that reached over her shoulders in a kinky manner.
In a matter of Minutes, the huge wolf was replaced by an innocent looking woman.
I still maintained my stiffness.
"Who are you?"
"Eve." The woman answered, not a bit concerned about her nakedness or that she had broken into my house.
Her eyes flickered bright white and I deemed it time to wake Henry.
Henry! Kitchen!
I hoped he would hear me even in his sleep. I was sure I could take this woman down if she made a wrong move but I better prepare for the worst. I wasn't aware there was any weres in Athenrim's apart from Henry and his pack.
"Why are you here?" I demanded.
"The moon goddess sent me here to claim him."
Her focus diverted from me to the door which led to the living room where Henry rested upon heavily.
I was her smile like she had been relieved of a throbbing pain. It was unsettling for me watching her stare at Henry like that.
"What do you mean?" Henry asked himself.
"It means you are my mate."
We've was led to the sitting room to discuss this very delicate matter. Henry's mind worked in unimaginable ways but mostly he wanted to know how I felt about this. I bet he could read me too.
I was far too confused to comprehend what this Eve was babbling about but to learn more i had to listen.
Once Eve was given a warm blanket which belonged to me and made me tingy, she proceeded to telling her story.
"Henry had been my mate since the blue moon. It was when we first met."
I remembered the blue moon, the moment I had died but even my hazy memory could not make out a white wolf. I did not trust this Eve one bit.
"How come you couldn't help us when we were being slaughtered!" I said almost yelling.
She played with tge blanket and kept her head down like she was disgraced.
"I was afraid."
Avery calm down.,Henry sent.
It calmed me a bit bit I could not stay with this woman. I went upstairs while Henry interrogated her, a part of me wanted to stay to keep a close eye on my man but... My nose tingled at something burning. I rushed upstairs and to my bedroom where the smell of sulphur seemed to be stronger. My eyes widened in terror as i watched the bed Henry was asleep in as of before now in flames. The room had been ransacked and something had been scratched on the mirror.
It read, "DINA".
