The awkward silence that engulfed them afterwards was beginning to eat at Ryker; he felt his skin start to crawl and the sudden urge to itch was becoming stronger. He watched as she continuously traced over the writing on the crisp, white paper lined in faint blue and red stripes that lay before her. An arrogant smirk wanted to make it's appearance on his lips, yet he managed to push it down knowing it wouldn't be appropriate.

"Wh-why?" She stuttered out, as she cautiously watching him take long strides over to where she sat. His reply was not verbal, he cupped a hand on her check and one around the back of her neck bringing their lips together in a kiss, to which she immediately responded. They broke apart gasping for air, her hands had clenched the fabric of his shirt as their foreheads came together and they held onto one another.

"Just because," He breathed out and a cheeky grin formed for her to see his pearly whites, with a small gap in between the two front teeth.

"That's not a good answer." She teased, a sudden bolt of confidence ran through her veins. He raised an amused eyebrow at her words and his grin had faded into a soft smile.

"Okay then, you want the truth?" He leaned his head back and rested his arms at the curve of her waist, she nodded a sign encouraging him to continue.

"You better sit down because I'm about to knock your socks off," He lead her over to a chair and sat in the one placed beside it, "you know how we have English together? Well, we also have every other class together, as well." Brandy inhaled a sharp intake of breath, wondering how she could have been so ignorant. He rubbed up and down her arm soothingly, showing her that it didn't bother him as much as she thought it had.

"It's okay.. Anyway, as creepy as it sounds, I've been, um, observing you? You were one of the only girls that didn't fall to my feet as I passed by in the hallways, and I became intrigued by you." He used his extended vocabulary, the one he acted as it didn't exist in school or around anyone else. She pursed her lips, rolling them into her mouth and releasing them to their full shape. He looked away, like he was staring off into the distance, Ryker didn't want to sound like he was pleading for her to like him back. He stood, collecting himself and shrugging on his leather jacket as he made his way to the door he nodded towards her watching as she shook her head and walked towards him. His grip on the door handle tightened, his hand started to ache as he watched the slow, careful steps Brandy took as her way of advancing to the area his feet were rooted on.

"Ryker, please," She whispered, grasping onto his leather jacket clad arm. "Please, what?" His gruff voice sounded, her heartbeat accelerated and her eyes fluttered shut.

"Please, don't leave.. me." Ryker felt his heart cave in at the sound of her sweet, delicate voice jumping off the walls and securing the knot in his stomach. He turned, facing her and folded his arms across his broad chest making Brandy cower back in fear. He was aware of his intimidating stance yet he wasn't willing to back down, it was a part of his nature that he was gripping onto like the ends of a rope in tug-of-war.

"I'm not leaving you, I just need some air." His, once rough and menacing voice, was now melodic and soft. Brandy let go and watched as he shoved open the door, proceeding to lean against one of the brick pillars that supported the large structure. She watched as his fingers skillfully flicked the cigarette  that was slowly burning to the bud, and she watched as he flicked the disgusting habit to the ground and pressed it into the concrete sidewalk with the sole of his foot.

Ryker knew he was being childish, and he knew from the burning hole on his back that she was gazing at him through the glass doors. He closed his eyes, letting the thoughts rush through his brain and kicking them out so they wouldn't stay pass their expiration date.

He turned on the back of his heel and moved back into the building until he was placed directly across from her. "I bet you think I'm disturbing now." He spoke up, Brandy furrowed her eyebrows together and let her mind drift off to the distant memory of their previous conversation where he did nothing but put himself down only for her to come along and dust him off.

"No." She added a shake of her head as she wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her head into his chest, which she nearly needed to stand on her tippy-toes to reach. It was a bold move, especially for her, yet it was all worth it when her wrapped his arms around her neck and placed a gently kiss on her hair.

"Be mine," He whispered into her ear and knew she was blushing like mad by the comment.

"Quit smoking." She mumbled back, it wasn't going to be easy, but for her he knew nothing ever would be. That's what made his heart swell at the sight of her, she was a challenge and he was willing to accept anything she threw his way.

"For you my darling, I shall." He slipped a note into her back pocket, before releasing her and entwining their hands as they walked back to their seats in the library and waited for the librarian, Mrs. Callaghan, and when she did come back Brandy wasn't going to correct her on referring to Ryker as her boyfriend.
