Chapter 9

*Anusha Pov*

"Sha!" I heard the whisper, but I groaned, turning around and covering my ears to not get much disturbed.

"It's already late, Sha. I need to leave for the office and we need to have breakfast." The voice continued.

"Let me sleep!" I said in an irritated tone.

"They must be sitting at the table waiting for us." The voice commented.

"Then let them wait or if they feel hungry, let them eat whoever they are but just let me sleep whoever you are." Saying that I drifted off into sleep.

I woke up smiling, feeling completely fresh and glanced at the clock only to feel my heart skip beating and my eyes widened.

"No, no, no!" I whispered scrambling from the bed and rushed to the washroom hoping he is just showering inside and the clock is wrong.

"Satvik! My sweet husband, just be here." I whispered knocking and opening the washroom to see it empty.

I walked back to the bed and took out my phone before calling him. However, to not waste the time I took out the clothes along with my toothbrush.

"So, you finally got up?" I heard an amused voice.

"How could you not wake me up? It's twelve, Satvik!" I pointed out and he only chuckled.

"You didn't even remember me in your sleep, Sha. I tried for ten minutes before leaving." He explained still with amusement covering his words.

"Shall I just stay in this room until you return? Your Mom already hates me and now with this, I don't want to face her." I whispered and he fell into silence.

"Sha! You didn't have a good sleep yesterday and you were tired. I am sure she will understand." He assured me.

"But I most likely will be like this everyday unless I have some objective to get up at some time." I pointed out.

"And I don't have any job." I added.

"Just try for some other objective before you get a job." He suggested and I frowned thinking he is actually right.

"Okay! I will think of something." I mumbled sighing.

"And if Bhabhi says too much, just tell her it is all my fault." He suggested and I nodded for a second before understanding his suggestion.

"Satvik!" I scolded him before hanging up feeling my cheeks heating up.

After getting ready, I climbed down the stairs slowly and hesitated before turning around to do as per my first plan that is to stay in my room.

"Are you feeling fine now?" I heard a voice and turned to see Manvi.

"Huh?" I asked, looking at her.

"Satvik said you had a light fever and we thought it must be because of your wound. I should have been careful while cleaning up. Because of me, you got the fever." She said with complete guilty expression.

"No! I mean it's gone and it has been just a little I guess... and it just happened... you... you didn't do it intentionally... I just..." I trailed off my stuttering words and looked at her to see her worry look.

"You must be feeling weak because of which you are talking like that. Mom made some soup for you. Come and have it." She said tugging me to the dining room while I gaped at her.

Did whatever happened yesterday is just a dream? Is the today actually my first day after marriage? I asked myself pretty weird questions because of weird behavior I am seeing in this person who is dragging me.

She was smiling, but suddenly that smile left when Aunty walked out from the kitchen and Manvi calmly said, "Have that!"

And when Aunty walked back into the kitchen, Manvi added, "She doesn't like you and I don't want to hurt her."

"Why are you being nice?" I blurted out.

"I still don't like you because you hurt my family somehow, but because of you my husband stood for me. So, for that and also because you are ill for my negligence." She replied, shrugging and I gave her a look before having the soup.

I expected something else but I am being treated with something else and all thanks to Satvik. But he scared me for unnecessary reason for sure.

"Thanks for this." I whispered, not wishing to say much after yesterday's complaint from her.

"Well, I need to go and help Mom to pack lunch." Saying that she walked off and I finished my soup before taking the bowl into the kitchen just when they finished packing.

I gave Aunty a nod before moving towards the sink and washed off my bowl and spoon. I immediately started thinking what to do the next day onwards.

Now, if I try to do some dish, then they will think if was not feeling well in the morning how can I do this and then Satvik will be in trouble for lying.

"Here! Mom asked you to eat this as you have a fever." Saying that Manvi gave me a bowl filled with something.

I took a bite after she again left the kitchen only to gag and immediately walked near the refrigerator to drink some water.

"Not good? But the people who got fever must have this at least the people who are really not well." These words made me turn around with shock covering my face.

"My Son may learn to go against this family and our wishes, but he never learnt to lie before me. So, I know he was lying today morning and you made him do it." She added shaking her head.

"I know waking up early must be really difficult for you and twelve is also fine because no one will mind whether you are present or not." She continued to talk while my head started spinning.

"But Aunty..." I started feeling disturbed that she thinks like this.

"Manvi doesn't know about your deception and believes it is her fault. And it would be better if she doesn't know that it is a lie otherwise she will not sit quietly. So, just be calm about it." She immediately says stopping my words.

"Next time try to not make him lie for your sake." She adds and I calmly placed the bowl on the counter.

"He is not a kid and I hope you know that." Saying that I walked off, leaving the kitchen and rushed to climb the stairs ignoring Manvi before reaching my room.

"It's just second day and I wish... I wish didn't do this." I whispered to myself lying on the bed feeling alone suddenly.

"God! What should I do? Should I even do something?" I asked, looking at the ceiling and felt tears rolling down.

"I just fell in love, right?" I asked, closing my eyes and turned my head to press into the pillow before letting the tears out.

"Sha? Are you okay?" Satvik's voice broke my thoughts and I continued to stare at the view before me holding the railing.

"Next time don't lie for my sake, Satvik." I whispered when he reached near me.

"Is something wrong? Even Mom looked upset and didn't meet my eyes." He asked, placing his hand on my shoulder.

"Even if something happened you wouldn't be able to say anything to your Mom and it is better to leave it." I replied leaning into his hold.

"I am just... just feeling lost. I don't know what to even do." I whispered and felt him turning me around.

"I know, Sha! Because I feel the same and I know if someone can beat these situations it can be both of us together." He said making me smile.

"Go and freshen up! You must be tired and we are standing here talking about something which is not in our hands at present." I said stepping back but he pulled me in his arms.

"We can do something which is in our hands." Saying that he brushed his lips over mine before kissing me.

"Hmm! Is it how you will greet your wife after returning home?" I asked, closing my eyes when he dropped his forehead over mine.

"Yeah! My wife is not romantic, you see, so she can't do it by herself." He replied and I immediately hit his shoulder.

"What? I am telling the truth." He says, shrugging and walked away from the balcony winking.

"I will show you Satvik but not now with other main thing to do." I whispered turning around to enjoy the air.

With morning incident, I stayed silent and before they can treat me that I am invisible, I felt myself like that and finished the dinner not even caring for any words being exchanged between family members.

"You were lost there." Satvik commented when he followed me to drop the plate, but I didn't say a word and cleaned our plates.

"I am going to our room." I mumbled, staring at him to see that he is frowning back.

"Okay! I will stay for a few minutes." He said and I nodded, walking away before reaching the steps and took a deep breath.

"Sha!" he called making me look up from my notebook where I was writing what should I do tomorrow and plan until I can get a job.

"I know that something happened." Saying that he sat beside me.

"But if you also lock yourself, then nothing will change, right?" he asked holding my hand.

"They hate me, Satvik." I whispered, looking at our joined hands.

"They don't hate you. They are angry at both of us and they could be showing the anger at me even at you. But if we both don't try then this will become a habit. I am trying everyday to make them be normal to me. My Mom is just ignoring me like I am not even present before her eyes. And still I will continue to show my efforts to make her accept us." He continued to talk and I just stared at him.

"I can understand what you are saying, but I just wanted to have some space in my head today." I mumbled and glanced at the notebook.

"Plans are getting ready for the project." He started saying and I nodded writing down the things I need to buy.

"By next week I can show you the plans." He added and I again nodded.

"And I love you." He whispered, pressing a kiss to my cheek making me smile and turn to stare at him directly to see him smiling back.

"I love you too." I whispered and he leaned over to press his lips to mine.

"I hope tomorrow onwards you will remember who is waking you up." He whispered and I slowly leaned back to lay on the bed with him leaning over me.

"I will try." I said, moving my hands through his hair slowly.

"Hmm! I have to make sure you remember." Saying that he pressed for another kiss with more passion than gentleness and I just felt myself going away to some far place.

"Who are you?" I asked the moment he lifted his head and he stared at me for a second before we both burst out laughing.

"Now, let's sleep and try to wake up early." He said moving to set alarm.

"It's okay! Now, that I know I have to do something tomorrow, I will get up early only." I assured him.

"But before breakfast, I need you to take me somewhere." I added.

"Before breakfast?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.

"Trust me on this, Satvik. I know what I am saying." I replied and he slowly nodded.

"Well, I always trust you." He whispered and moved to lay properly before pulling me in his arms.

"Now, go to sleep." He added moving his hand to turn off the light beside our bed and I smiled snuggling before drifting off into sleep.
