Chapter Two♡

Alex

We looked at eachother the same time, "You and I, we're stuck here." She said.

One part of me was going Shit, shit, shit, shit, this girl absolutely hates me, what will happen when we get stuck together for God knows how long!

But another part of me was intrigued, I've known Ellie forever, and I've always had a bit of a crush on her, but she has always hated me, so I just sort of went with it, and acted like I hated her too. We've never been stuck together anywhere, besides group or partner projects in school, so I'm excited to see how this will go.

"Oh gosh, what are we supposed to do??" She asked, panicked

"Well, I have one idea..." I trailed flirtatious

I always did that, partly because it bugged her, partly because it's just my personality.

"Oh shut up," she replied, "we have to try and get out. I can't be stuck in here, with you of all people!"

"Alright, alright. I feel the same way. What if we try to open the door? We could walk back-"

"Are you kids crazy?! Walking out in that storm?! Do you have a death wish??" Piped in Mr. Helpful cashier guy.

"We need to get out, please help us?" Cried Ellie

"No can do miss, now I've got to get some shut eye, don't mess up my store."

"SHUT EYE? SERIOUSLY? YOU HAVE BEEN SLEEPING SINCE WE'VE GOT HERE!" yelled Ellie, but he didn't seem to mind, he was too busy adjusting himself in the plastic chair he was seated in.

"Listen, Ellie, we're probably going to be stuck here for a while, let's call our parents, and try to find some stuff that could be useful? Yeah?" I asked her.

"Yeah, fine, whatever." She responded, looking around.

I took out my cell and called my mom, as Ellie called hers at the same time.

"Hello? Alex? Are you okay?" Answered my mom's frantic voice

"Yeah, I'm fine, but we can't get out of the store, it looks like we'll be stuck for a while. Don't worry, we'll be fine."

"Okay, call me regularly though. How's Ellie doing?"

"She's doing okay, a little panicked, I think."

"Alright, well tell her I say 'hi' be safe okay?"

"Aren't I always?" I respond

"Love you, hun."

"Love you too mom. Bye."

As the line disconnected I looked around to find Ellie standing in front of an old door.

"What are you doing?" I asked, coming up behind her.

"Oh, gosh, you scared me." She says, placing her hand on her chest and jumping a bit.

I laugh as she continues, "I was thinking that there could be something useful down there, I mean, we might have to spend the night here right? We need blankets or sleeping bags, or something."

"You're right, I didn't even think of that."

"Of course you didn't." She mumbles

See, remarks like that, I don't get why she hates me, I've always been playful and flirty around her, I'm always like that. And when she started this whole hatred thing between us, I went along. I've still dated plenty of girls, but I always find myself comparing them to her, but none of them, not one! Could compare to her.

Of course she has no idea that I like her, I don't know how I would tell her, or how she would react.

"Okay, let's go." I say

"Wait, I can't go down there."

"Why not?"

"Ummmm, well, you see..." she stutters

"Aw, is Ellie scared?" I coo.

"N-no."

"Do you want me to hold your hand?" I ask with big eyes, in a baby voice

"Shut up." She growls and heads downstairs, trying to prove a point.

"SANDERS! GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE, HYPOCRITE!" she yells up when she notices I haven't gone down yet.

"Nah, I'm good." I chuckle

"Sanders, if you don't come down here in three seconds, I will walk out into that blizzard, leaving you here all alone!"

"Sounds good." I yell back

"I'm not kidding." She warns

"Neither am I."

"Okay," she says, walking up the stairs and to the door.

"Okay, okay, you win, I'll come down." I say, because;

1. I don't want her to leave.
2. I wouldn't want her to get hurt.
3. I don't want to be here alone.
4. I can never tell if she's serious or not.

"Thank you." She says, stepping aside, so I can lead the way to the basement.

I walked down the creaky wooden steps to find a large room filled with dust and cobwebs.

Ugh.

Ellie started to look around immediately, searching for anything. Finally we found a sleeping bag.

One sleeping bag.

One sleeping bag.

One...

"Well that's fan-freaking-tastic." Ellie says.

"There's got to be another!" I add

"There's not, we've looked everywhere, the only other thing down here is boxes of extra food, pillows, some candles, a sheet of foam, and lots and lots of spiders."

"Ugh, fine. I guess that will have to do then. It's better than nothing."

"Not exactly..." she mumbles.

After a while of continuous searching, we head back upstairs with the one sleeping bag, the sheet of foam, and loads of pillows.

We lay the foam on the floor and put the sleeping bag on top of it, we surround pillows around it, and light a few candles, because some of the lights have gone out.

"I just realized something," she says

"What?"

"We're in a variety store." She says with a wide smile.

"Wow, takes you a while to catch on." I say teasingly

"No, we're in a variety store." She says again, trying to point out something that's clearly not very obvious to me.

"Parsons, your only eighteen, I didn't think the memory would be going this fast." I sigh

"No, you dummy, we're in a variety store, we've got all sorts of food and drinks at our disposal! This is going to be so much fun, except for the fact that you're here."

"We can do what they do in movies and lay under the slushie machine and drink all the slushy!" I exclaim, childishly

"Wow." She says shaking her head.

I run over to the slushy machine and immediately mix all of the flavors into one jumbo cup, it looks like a very disoriented swirled rainbow. It tastes good though.

Ellie is ravaging through the candy, grabbing all of her favorite kinds, from Kit Kat bars, to twizzlers, to Hershey chocolate.

Since the cashier guy is asleep and we're hungry, we eat and do all we want, we drink slushies, we eat candy, we eat chips, we even had a pillow fight.

This is probably the first time that Ellie has ever laughed around me, and it feels great, to be the one, who can make her smile.
