thirty two.
A cellphone rang throughout the dark room. Tossing over in the bed, Pru reached over to the bedside table. Grabbing her phone to see Hank's contact light up the screen. Confused, the girl accepted the call and placed the phone to her ear.
"Hello?" Pru questioned as a but of muffled movement on the other line traveled through the phone before Hank finally spoke.
"Pru. Can you send out a message to the unit?" Voight wondered.
"Yeah. What's wrong?" Pru asked the man.
"Al was stabbed in county. They are rushing him to med." Hank informed Pru who sat staright up in her bed.
"I'll send out the message and I'll be there soon." Pru told Voight. The call soon ended and Pru rushed around her room. Sending out the group message to everyone then throwing on some leggings and a hoodie. Once she exited her room, both her and Hailey met near the front door.
"I'll drive." Hailey announced as she grabbed her keys off the counter before they headed out.

Everyone had been waiting in the small waiting area in silence. None of them knew what to say as they all focused their gaze onto random things. Pru sat in a cushioned seat as she bounced her leg. She had became anxious with not knowing what was going on. All of their attention was drawn to the door as it opened. Their boss walked in with a stoic expression. All of them had stood from their spots, ready for the news on Al. Hank let out a sigh as he then shook his head.
"He didn't make it?" Pru's voice cracked as she asked for confirmation. Hank shook his head again as the girl's eyes began to water. Her breathe caught in her throat as she held in a sob. Rushing out of the room as tears poured down her face. Making her way quickly down the hall.
Jay made his way after the girl. Feeling quite distraught by the news that they had received. He rounded the corner to head outside into the dark early morning. Looking around he caught sight of the back of the blonde girl's head. The girl sat on a bench with her head in her hands. Her body trembled as she sucked in breaths of air in between her sobs. Jay had took a seat beside her, wrapping his arms around the crying girl. Resting his chin on top of her head. He couldn't help but also let a few tears escaped from his eyes as they trickled down his freckled cheeks.
Jay and Pru had walked back into the waiting room where everyone else sat. The entire enclosed place held much grief. Pru made her way over by Hailey with Jay follwing behind her. Standing there as their attention went onto Voight.
"Alright. I know. I mean, we're in pain. I get it. But the best way to honor Al is to find the son of a biTch responsible for this. So, for now, lets put all our energy, all our passion-our love for Al-into finding the person who did this. I know that's what Al would want. I guarantee it. Then when this is over, when we got this prick, then we'll mourn Al. So take the time you need. But just know-right now we got some business to do."

The members in the unit moved things around in the room that they were given to begin their investigation. Voight had demanded a few things to make sure that they could get right into solving this case. Voight had walked into the room that everyone was setting up. Looking around at his unit for a quick second before checking in with them.
"Alright, where we at?" He wondered.
"The jail is on lockdown." Antonio announced.
"Good. Keep me in the loop." Hank replied.
"Guards are going through cells, hallways, laundry rooms, looking for blood." Kim spoke up as she looked through a file.
"Any eyewitnesses?" Voight questioned.
"Not yet. We talked to inmates that were in proximity of the stabbing. No one said zip." Pru told him.
"Inmates playing blind. What about the guards?" He wondered.
"No luck so far." Hailey said.
"The weapon's at the lab. They're checking it for prints and DNA. It was a platic comb before they turned it into a shank." Jay updated them on the wherabouts of the weapon.
"Boss, I found a guard who actually saw the attack. His name is Dietz. He's waiting in the hallway." adam informed Voight.
"Kim, Hailey- track down every frame of surveillance video you can get your hands on." Hank instructed before he left the room.
+
"We get that surveillance video yet?" Hank asked as him and Kev walked back into the room after talking to an inmate.
"Ruzek's pulling it up now." Hailey told him.
"Alright, four camera's, all of the cell block G. Here comes Al walking right there." Adam pointed at the screen as Al walked into frame.
"Walks up to these two guys. They start jawing. Guard comes, breaks it up, two guys keep moving. Now it's a different angle, different camera."Adam clicked on the next clip to blow it up on the screen.
"You're gonna see the guard still with him at this point. Now, the guard's gonna get a phone call right here and break away. Al keeps walking towards his cell." Adam paused the clip.
"This is where it happens." Adam leaned down. All of them stayed silent. Hank turned towards Adam.
"Okay, run it." Hank instructed. Adam clicked the play button as the surveillance video resumed. Pru turned away instantly at the first stab. All of them felt pain themselves as they watched, having to also look away from the screen.
"Wait, freeze it." Hank said. The man walked closer to the screen.
"Alright, blow it up." Adam did as he was told. The screen enlarged as they looked at the image.
"Still can't see the bastards face." Kim pointed out.
"Alright. so we got any other angles? Other cameras?" Voight wondered.
"I'll pull it up right now." Adam spoke as the screen changed. The camera showed the security guard walking away for the call only to hide behind the wall.
"The hell is he doing? He's just standing there." Kev questioned, shocked by the video.
"What a coward!" Pru snapped.
"The son of a biTch is in on it. His name is Dan Dietz. Run his financials. Antonio, come on. You and me." Voight said before him and Antonio left.

Antonio, Adam and Pru walked with Voight who shoved an inmate that he just arrested into the storage closet. Adam had tossed a orange in his hand as they kept watch. Once they heard some commotion and the door lock, Antonio moved onto the otherside of the hall then began to pace. More commotion could be heard in the closet as Pru leaned up against the wall, looking down at her nails in boredom.
"Are you going to eat the orange or just keep playing with it?" Pru questioned Adam who gave her a look.
"What? Didn't you ever get told not to play with your food when you were younger?" Pru brought up as Adam scoffed.
"I'll eat it when I want to." Adam said.
"Alright, that's-guard, unlock the door." Antonio let out.
"No. We're good." Adam shooed off the guard.
"Toni. This guy killed Al." Pru whispered.
"i know that, but this-."
"No, what are you trying to protect him for?" Adam asked Antonio.
"This is not what Al would want." Antonio yelled. The door opened as their eyes fell on Voight.
"I interrogated the prisoner. He was not cooperative. I am convinced he's involved." Hank began to tell as he walked past them. Antonio peered into the closet to see the damage his boss had left.
"For Godsake, Hank." Antonio let out.
"Hey, he tried to choke me with his handcuffs." Hank falsely informed them.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Antonio questioned.
"You don't believe my story?" Hank slipped his jacket on.
"I wanna do right by AL-."
"I said he tried to choke me with his handcuffs. You don't believe me? Then file a beef. And get the hell off the case." Voight cut Antonio off. Giving him one last look before walking away. Pru patted Antonio's shoulder before she followed her boss.

"Andre Gomez is definitely our guy. There was a ton of blood on his DOC uniform and his sneakers. They're on their way now to the lab." Jay announced as he entered the bullpen where everyone was.
"Andre Gomez, 35, long jacket. Affiliated with the Latin Scorpions. Doing time on a double murder." Pru began as she placed his photo onto the crime board.
"Yeah, he's been at Cook County for a month. His case is on appeal right now." Kevin added as he handed the file over to Voight.
"So why Andre? Why Al?" Hailey asked.
"Well, he was a cop." Adam responded.
"Maybe, but if it's just police hate, why put in all that effort? I mean, this guy paid a guard five grand to look the other way." Antonio made a point.
"We know where this money came from?" Voight questioned.
"Yeah. Western Union. It was a money transfer. We can't ID the sender, though." Adam answered.
"Right, so how the hell does someone doing life get his hands on 5k? Doesn't make sense." Antonio commented.
"Well, he definitely has someone helping him on the outside." Jay said.
" The question is, is someone on the outside helping Andre, or is Andre helping someone on the outside?" Hank brought up.
"You think this could be a contracted hit?" Kim wondered.
"Feels that way to me. Alright, lets dig into this Andre. See if he's connected to someone who has a grudge against Al." Hank told them.
"Kim. Pru." Hank called them over as he looked at Al's desk.
"Whenever you both are ready, could you get a box together of Al's things? Whenever you're ready, okay?" Voight told them. Staring at the desk that sat next to her own. Pru sucked in a breath. Hank then retired to his office, closing the door behind him. To be honest, the two girls didn't know when they'd really be ready for that task.

The case had progressed the second day in. They had zeroed in a Carlos Deleon. Finding out he had a connection to Al. A few years back Al helped arrest Carlos' brother who later got killed in prison. They pieced together that it must have been revenge as motive. So the entire unit had swarmed in on Deleon's property once their warrant request got cleared. All of them wore their vests, holding their guns as they made their way towards the mansion that Deleon owned. Readying themselves at the front door as Antonio knocked on the glass. They got no answer as Kev, who held the battering ram, looked back on Voight.
"Hit it." Hank instructed. Kev nodded before yelling,
"Chicago PD!"
The door opened as a female appeared. "What do you want?" The women snapped. Jay shoved past her as they all filed into the mansion.
"Carlos Deleon!" Jay shouted.
"He's not here." The women said.
"Where is he?" Jay asked. The women decided against cooperating as Hailey kept her in the hall as they all began to search the property for any signs of Deleon. Pru scoped around part of the upstairs but didn't come across anything. Walking back out to see Adam leaning down over the railing.
"There's a men's suitcase and clothes on the floor in the bedroom. Looks like someone left in a hurry." Adam informed. Pru headed back down the stairs.
"Your husband launders money for the cartel, and he ordered the murder of a Chicago police officer. So you got one chance to cooperate." Voight told the wife, Carmen. Pru moved over towards them, hands tucked into the sides of her vest.
"Or what? You gonna hit me?" The women challenged.
"No. I will." Pru spoke up as she looked at the women.
"Sarge, we got this. Let us talk to her." Kim told Hank. Referring to her, Pru, and Hailey.
"That's a good idea. Tear this place apart." Hank demanded the rest of the unit as Pru shoved Carmen forward.
"Start walking." Pru told her as they guided her into the kitchen.
"Come on, Carmen. You knew the day you married Carlos this moment was coming." Hailey said.
"Play it right, you walk, play it wrong, you-."
"My husband sells furniture. Now get the hell out of my face." Carmen cut Kim off. Pru smacked Carmen right across the face before shoving her into the counter.
"Listen here, you biTch. Your husband killed my partner. Do you understand? So you can either help us here right now, or I won't hesitate to bury your aSs." Pru threatened. The women threw Pru's hands off of her.
"I'm calling my lawyer. They call him 'The Shark'. He'll make your life a living hell." Carmen said.
"Call him." Pru's face never once faltered as she challenged Carmen. Then Carmen's mother appeared and began to speak in Spanish. That caused Carmen to snap at her mother.
"Uh-uh-uh, she stays." Hailey told her.
"For Godsake, leave her alone!" Carmen yelled.
"Oh, I will. I need her papers first." Hailey said.
"She has nothing to do with this." Carmen let out.
"Papers now." Hailey demanded.
"Look at this text." Kim showed Hailey and Pru.
"Well, look at that. It seems like your mother doesn't actually exist. So I take it she's here illegally." Pru said.
"One call to ICE and she's gone. Slow train back to Mexico, Carmen. It's a real easy choice- your sweet loving mother..."
"Or your scumbag murdering husband." Hailey and Kim gave Carmen an ultimatum.
"And he's going to prison for the rest of his life." Pru informed.
"Last chance. Where is he?" Hailey snapped.
"Ramon picked him up about an hour ago." Carmen began.
"Who's Ramon?" Kim questioned.
"Carlos' cousin. They're at his warehouse." Carmen answered.
"There you go." Kim walked past her.
"If you're lying-."
"I'm not. So go. Do what you have to do." Carmen cut Pru off. Pru gave her one last look before walking away.
