The sound of a basketball dribbling echoed throughout the gym. Two brothers were playing a 1v1 game against each other. It was around 4pm and they had both decided to waste some time. Will had to head into work after and Jay was heading home to have some dinner.
The orange basketball made contact with the wooden ground repeatedly. Scooping the ball up and throwing it towards the hoop. The ball swished through the net. Jay Halstead has gotten another basket to tie them up. Will Halstead retrieved the ball. The doctor's blood pumped as his heart seemed to race a bit as the game was getting good.
"Alright, here we go. Next bucket wins. Check." Will told his younger brother as he tossed him the ball.
"Alright, hold on. I gotta tie my shoe." Jay paused their game as he bent down to re-tie his shoe laces, placing the basketball on the floor beside him.
"So, how are you and Natalie doing?" Jay questioned curiously.
"I see what you're going. It's not gonna work." Will said.
"Seriously. I just wanted to see if you two are getting along." Jay truthfully told his brother.
"Seriously, things have never been better. I'm a lucky guy. Now quit stalling." Will demanded his younger brother.
"Me? Stalling?" Jay sent a hurt look to the ginger.
"I'm glad you didn't screw things up. 'Cause you'd be a real knucklehead." Jay commented which caught Will off guard. Jay passed Will with the ball and got the winning shot.
"What's that suppose to mean?" Will asked as his brother cheered himself on from getting the point. Clapping echoed from the doorway which caused the brothers to direct their attention towards the sound. Seeing the blond girl standing there.
"Wow. What a champ. Lets go. We got some food to pick up, my guy." Pru said as Jay chuckled as she walked out the door.
"Now how are you two?" Will questioned.
"We're good. She has been staying over a lot more." Jay shrugged.
"Have you asked her out yet?" Will asked.
"No."
"Are you going to?" Will wondered.
"Maybe? I don't know? I don't want to ruin everything." Jay replied.
"You're ruining everything by not asking. You like her. She likes you. Hell, dad even likes her. And don't give me the whole work excuse because we both know you don't listen to that rule. Just ask her out." Will told him.
"I'll think about it." Jay said as he grabbed his things.
"See you later." Jay bid a 'goodbye' to his older brother before heading out the door.

Pru and Jay has made it back to Jay's apartment with the bag of food in hand. Pru had ordered the food while they were at the gym so it would be ready once they were done. The blonde girl made her way into the kitchen and began to unload the bag of food into the counter. Making sure everything was there again as she spread the food out. Stacking Jay's food in a pile and hers into her own even though she knew separating all of it wouldn't make a difference. They both would still eat the others food.
"Hey, are you ready for a movie?" Jay asked from the doorway as Pru peered back at him.
"Yeah." Pru said with a smile as she handed him his things then grabbed her own. Making their way to the couch.
The movie had finally ended. The Last Song was one of Pru's favorites. All she had to do is a simple puppy dog look for Jay to agree to eat h it. And he would be lying if he said he didn't like it. The glances he would take from tv to the blonde girl beside him. Smiling at how her brown eyes were so entranced on the screen in front of her. He adored that about her. How just by the look in her eyes you could tell how much she loved something.
Pru had decided to clean up once the movie finished. Taking their food containers to wash them then throw them away. While she had gone into the kitchen, Jay had switched the tv onto the basketball game and pulled out the bed from the couch to set it up. Pru had wiped her hands on the dish towel when she felt Jay's presence in the doorway.
"Was the movie bad?" Pru questioned as she lifted an eyebrow and glanced over her shoulder at him. He sighed and she smiled knowing the answer to her question already.
"No. It wasn't bad." Jay admitted.
"Ronnie and Will were just really good together. Yeah there was some bumps in the road for them. But they were cute. They just kind of worked." Pru turned towards Jay as she continued to ramble.
"Honestly, I want something kind of like that. Something really meaningful. And the height difference was adorable. But don't get me started on Will. He's so charming. But Liam Hemsworth is just so h—." Jay cut Pru off by pressing his lips to hers. Catching her by surprise as she tensed up for a quick second before melting at his touch. The imaginary fireworks filled the room around them as they kissed one another. Pulling away from him to catch her breath as Jay's eyes widen as he looked at the girl.
"Oh God. Did I mess up? I don't know I just kind of went for it." Jay began to stress out as Pru let out a light giggle.
"No, you dork. You didn't mess anything up." Pru told him as she pulled him back down to her to connect their lips once more. Smiling into the kiss as Jay lifted the girl up onto the counter. Going in between her legs as she kept her arms wrapped around his neck. The two continued to indulge in their kiss. Finally parting to smile at one another. Jay leaned his forehead slightly down to rest on Pru's forehead as their noses brushed up against one another's. The sound of the breathing was all that could be heard in the kitchen.
"It took you long enough." Pru let out as she playfully shoved his shoulder as Jay chuckled.
"My bad." Jay replied as they smiled at each other.
"I mean, I know I'm no Will or Liam Hemsworth." Jay trailed off.
"I don't need them when I have you. Jay Halstead sounds way better than those two." Pru said as Jay smiled and pecked her lips.
The two had finally gotten something right in there lives, which was each other.
