Chapter 9
"Alright Moon, it's our decision, so, what should we do?" Sun watched the plush in front of them expectantly, staring into its lifeless eyes as it sat on the counter in front of them. It didn't answer, of course, and Sun sighed dejectedly. "Come on Moony," they grumbled to themself, "I know it'd be a lot easier to just agree, but there's no way it's as simple as just finding some random batteries and hooking ourselves up to them! Where would we even get that many batteries anyways?! And I doubt they just have spare Faz-brand animatronic charger cables lying around somewhere-" Sun froze as an idea formed in their mind, hands wringing their ribbons in thought before they sharply turned back to the Moon plush in front of them. "NO!" they yelled, briefly glimpsing around the corner of the kitchen they'd hidden away in to check that no one had heard their outburst before repeating quieter.
"No, we're not doing that, it's too dangerous!" The plush slouched slightly, unable to keep itself upright, "Noooooo," Sun drew out in a warning tone, "don't you give me that attitude Moon, I won't have it!" the plush continued to slouch, blank smile face down at its legs as if unable to meet their eye. "Of course I trust you Moon!" Sun whined out, "I just wish..." They glanced at the drawings they'd placed down on the counter opposite to Moon's own. Their own Sun plush staring up at the decaying ceiling above from its place on the, now much less tidy, stack of clothes. "I wish you could've trusted me...
Sun sighed, running their hand down their face tiredly as their thoughts continued to swarm. They shuffled through the stack to pull out Matt's drawing as well as the one attached to it, carefully prying the two pages apart. "'No other rabbits in the Pizzaplex' huh?" they muttered as they stared down at the picture. "...maybe we should've double-checked."
...Sun continued to stare at the picture for a long while more before they stood, paper still clutched in their hand as they made their way to the door, hesitating for only a split second before doubling back to get the Moon plush from its place on the counter.
Maybe they didn't necessarily need to be cautious as they crept towards the Glamrocks, DJ was busy helping the minis and Pat-Pat was off doing goodness-knows-what, but they still crept on the tips of their toes towards the still animatronics. Their rays tucked close in anticipation as they made it to Bonnie's side.
The bunny in question was propped against the wall behind him limply, blank expression offering no clues for whatever it was they'd been expecting to find. They pulled out the picture again, considering the idea that maybe it was just a failed redesign the company had trashed, it would be far from the first that was for certain.
But the two bunnies were vastly different from one another, Bonnie was bulky and squared whereas the White Rabbit was lean and... almost feminine in shape. Its face was narrower, and both its ears dropped. Too different from Bonnie to be an alternate version of him. But then what was it? Bonnie's estranged relative? A cruddy cosplay? Some kind of new character model?
Sun sighed, meeting the Moon plushies' eyes for a brief moment before hanging their head dejectedly. "It's not supposed to be Bonnie, that's for certain, but who else could it have been? What other bunnies were in the Pizzaplex?"
"...Rabbits." Sun's head shot up and they looked around, startled at the sudden voice. "Wha... what?" they gasped in confusion.
"Wh-hite... g-g-g-gold... Rabbits." The last word was growled out with a venom that made Sun cower back instinctively. They continued to scan their surroundings and finally, movement caught their eye.
They stared as Roxanne twitched beside her former bandmates, head tilted up to face Sun slightly as the darkness of her missing eyes sent chills down their circuitry. She growled again and Sun was too afraid to move as she shifted, limbs stiff despite her clear attempts to stand.
Her words sank in and Sun stood straighter, a grim sort of curiosity peeking as they stalked closer, watching her ears twitch at the sound of their footsteps until they were only a few feet away from her.
"Can... can you tell me more?... about the rabbits?"
