Friends
"Then stay. Stay with me, let's start over."
"But I can't Danny. It scares the hell out of me." Jessica holds Danny's chest.
"I'm so confused." Jessica cries
"Maybe we should go inside and talk about this." Danny takes her hand
Danny walks Jessica inside and wraps her in a blanket. They sit in front of the fire next to each other.
"Jess, are you happy in New York?" Danny says putting his hands on her knees.
"When I was in Europe I was happy. I love my job. I love writing and doing photography. Sometimes I think if it's really what I want to do for the rest of my life. Work at NY MAG.
Are you happy?"
"I don't know what happy is anymore. When I'm with you I'm happy."
"Danny, I came here to tell you how sorry I am."
"Jessica, you don't need to keep apologizing."
"I need to know why you are letting me into your life again? Why are you screaming at yelling at me? How are you not mad at me."
"I stopped being mad a long time ago because something told me inside that you were happy, and that's all I ever wanted for you. I wanted you to be happy."
"You're a great guy Danny. You truly are. I can't help but feel guilty for the past."
"I don't want you to think about the past anymore Jessica. I want you think about now. Where do you want to be in five years?"
"I don't know. I need to figure out life again. Why do I have to be so confused!" Jessica breaths heavily and becomes frustrated.
"Jess, deep breaths. I think what you need to do is go home for a while. Maybe work for a while and finish your book. My Thanksgiving, if you still feel this way come home. And if you want we can stay in touch while your home. And if you come home, we can start over. Only if you want to."
Danny always made Jessica feel better. He made her realize that being home may give her mixed emotions. She decided to go home. It had been months since she was home for more than a week. Deep in her heart she hoped that she would want to come back home so she could be with Danny.
Danny didn't want to tell her to stay anymore. It would confuse her even more and it was selfish if him. He wanted her to make the decision on his own and let her know that he'll wait. He never stopped waiting for her.

Jessica spent the rest of the day with Danny. Once it stopped raining they took a canoe out on the lake.
"It's beautiful out here. It's just like It was five years ago. It's all the same." Jessica gazes around and looks back at Danny catching him in a stare.
"You're the same too." Danny smiles
"Oh don't say that." Jessica bluffs
"Why?"
"I don't like the old me."
"The 'old you' isn't bad. You're wonderful."
"Well thank you..." she chuckles
Danny grins and Jessica raises her eyebrows.
"Danny, I swear if you do it." Jessica says holding onto the boat.
"Do what? This?" Danny rocks the boat then tips it over causing them to both fall into the water.
Danny quickly swam to Jessica and she started to laugh uncontrollably.
"Daniel!" She giggles
"I had too! It's just like old times!" He holds her in the water.
"I'm all wet! I don't have anymore clothes."
"I have t-shirts."
"My goodness! It's freezing!" Jessica shakes
"Being in this freezing cold water brings back memories."

August 2009-
"This is a great idea, getting this canoe!" Jessica says as Danny sets the canoe into the water.
"You like it? I'm glad." He turns back and smiles at Jessica and looks at her. She had her Polaroid hanging around her neck, her curls bounced around, and her summer dress fit her perfectly. Danny was in love with her.
"You're gorgeous Jessie." Danny steps into the boat and reaches for Jessica's hand.
She takes a step back. "I'm scared Danny."
"Don't be scared. As long as you're with me, you're safe." He nods moving his hand closer.
"You won't let go?"
"Of course not. I'll never let go."
Jessica takes his hand and steps into the boat.
Danny stars rowing and Jessica sits behind him. She watched the sunset and took multiple pictures of the scenery.
She looked at Danny and took a picture from behind.
"Look at how handsome my boyfriend is!" Jessica moves up and rest her body behind Danny's.
"That's a great picture."
Jessica giggles and slides it into his front shirt pocket.
"Keep it, forever. I never want to forget days like this with you."

When Jessica and Danny got inside they dried off. It was around five. Danny decided to pull out photo albums. Jessica wanted to see old pictures. For each Polaroid Jessica took with Danny she saved them and made an album of them for his eighteenth birthday.
"Is it crazy that I remember taking each and every one of these." Jessica says
"No... I remember you showing them to me asking 'how is this picture? Do you like it?' I never got tired of hearing that."
"You always said the same thing. Something like 'it doesn't matter how good the picture is. It's all about the story behind the picture'... I live by that every time I take one. Every picture holds a story."
"I'm good with words." Danny smirks
"Ahhhh." Jessica sighs and closes the album.
"I really think I should get going... I leave really early tomorrow. I should spend time with my sister and pack."
"Okay, do you want me to take you home?"
Jessica stands up and throws her hair into a bun.
"If you don't mind." She grins
"Of course not."

Danny and Jessica arrived at Jane's. Jessica looked at her house then back at Danny.
"Thank you. I had a great time with you."
"I'm glad you called. Spending time with you is always great, friend."
"Indeed it is, friend." She covers her mouth and giggles.
"You take care Jessica, we must keep in touch. That's what friends do."
"I promise."
"And remember, my door is always open."
"Thank you..."
"Goodbye, Jessica Lange."
"Mr. Huston." She nods kissing his hand.
**
Jessica got out of the car and waved goodbye as Danny pulled away. As they parted they both cried. Neither of them knew that one another were crying.
Right as Jessica got inside her phone went off.
*Are friends suppose to cry when they part? - D*
Jessica looked at her phone and shook her head.
"No, they aren't suppose to cry. For some reason, we are."
