A Date
"I'm really sorry about Danny, sweetie." Dorthy says helping Jessica pack her luggage into the car.
Jessica puts in her last bag then sighs. "It's fine, I'm fine. It's really not that big of a deal." Jessica says
Inside, she wasn't fine. She was completely broken. At one moment things were going well, but that all changed. Jessica knew what Danny was going through, she was just in shock that he ended things. Jessica's plan when she came to Minnesota was to tell Danny she wanted him, that she chose him. He ended things before she even got the chance.
"I had a nice visit. Thank you for letting me stay the week." Jessica smiles giving her mom a hug.
Dorthy held her for a while. Saying goodbye was never easy for Dorthy. She never knew if Jessica would come back. It was always something that made her worried each time Jessica left.
"You're welcome any time, Jessica. Don't forget that!" Dorthy says sternly
"I won't, maybe I'll try to come out for Christmas."
"Great, I'm excited. I always love having you in town."

That night Jessica got into New York late at night. She wasn't excited to be home. Jessica's mindset when she first got on the plane was to tell Danny how much she wanted him, and to either stay with him or him come back with her. She got neither of those. She was back where she started, alone.

December 3rd-
Over the last week Jessica was very distant from all of her friends. She was more quite throughout the work day and didn't speak to anyone really. She couldn't, she was too sad. She just wanted to hear Danny's voice again. She missed him, his jokes, and their long conversations. She'd do anything to have it back. She only wishes that she went with him when she had the chance.
How could you be so stupid Jessica! You waited so long. And for what? Because you were scared. Damn you! He loved you. You loved him. You were perfect for each other. You ruined that all. Now it's all over, forever.
Jessica sat in her apartment listening to sad music, drinking wine, and crying. She shut off her phone for the night.
Around eleven Jessica heard a knock at her door. Her first instinct was to not answer until they went away. But they wouldn't stop knocking.
Jessica stood up and stumbled to the door.
"God Jessica, can't you answer the damn phone." Sarah says sternly, strutting into Jessica's apartment.
Jessica widened her eyes and gave Sarah a funny look. Sarah tossed her purse on the table and crossed her arms.
"It's eleven at night! What are you doing here?" Jessica says
"You're almost drunk, so before you get drunk and I get jealous put that glass down." Sarah points to the table motioning Jessica to set the glass down.
Jessica huffs then sets the glass down. Jessica walks over to the couch and throws herself onto it. She covers her face trying to hide her tears.
Sarah walks over to her and sits across from the couch on a love seat.
"What the hell are you doing!"
"I'm crying! Can't you just leave." Jessica groans
"No, I'm your best friend. You're going to stop crying right now. You aren't a baby." She yells
Jessica sits up. She decided that she mine as well tell Sarah what happen.
By eleven thirty Jessica had full on tears as she finished the story about Danny.
"Stop crying." Sarah says again
"What the hell Sarah. The least you could do is not be a bitch."
"Jessica, it's done and over with. There is nothing you can do. He's a dick for leading you on for so long. Now it's time to move on. Don't waste your tears on Danny."
"What if he led me on all this time for payback? I bet this is payback."
"It isn't. He's emotional right now. But you can't let his hold you back. I say take it day by day. Forget about him. There are plenty of hot guys that walk the streets of New York, daily."
"I guess so... it just hurts."
"I'm sorry, Jessie."

December 12th-
Jessica got off work early on Monday to go have a meeting with her publisher. It had been a while since Jessica had seen him. When she got there she was going to hear how the book was selling. Jessica was so excited.
"Hey David, I'm here!" Jessica giggles walking into his office.
David stands up and shakes her hand. He looked extra happy to see her.
"Jessica, hello! Please sit, we have lots to discuss."
During the meeting Jessica found out that her book was selling great. Many big stores put it in their stores. They had fortunately sold out, completely. Jessica was astonished. She didn't think her book would be such a big hit. Jessica also got her first big pay check. It was enough for her to live off without her job at NY mag. David was having more copies of her book made for the stores. He was also having hard copies made as well. It was all so real to Jessica.
"Thank you for everything, David. I'm absolutely stunned that my book did so well."Jessica says standing up, getting ready to leave.
"Wait Jessica-" David says anxiously. He quickly stands up.
Jessica smiles and turns around. "Yes?"
"I know this may sound crazy, but I'd like to ask you out on a date. If you don't want to it's fine. I don't know if you have a boyfriend or not but-"
"It doesn't sound crazy..." Jessica giggles
"Really? So you'd like to go out with me?"
Jessica nods. She quickly begins to blush. Her face turned warm. She didn't think she'd be ready, but she had to move on.
"How about I pick you up on Friday night? I'll take you out to eat." He says writing down his number.
Jessica takes the slip of paper with his number on it. It was written on a personal stationary. Jessica held the paper in her hand and smiled.
"I'll text you my address." She says softly
"Great, wow. This is awesome." He says sitting back down.
"I'll see you Friday." She smiles walking out the door.

Jessica rushed back to her apartment and called Sarah. Her heart raced. David asked her out. She couldn't believe it.
"Jessica, what's going on?" Sarah says
"My publisher asked me out on a date! Sarah I'm going on a date!"
"Oh my god, Jessica! You little hoe!"
"Hey... am I really a hoe? Do you think I'm moving on too fast?"
"Of course not. It was a joke. When is your date?"
"This Friday."
"Great, I'll be over to help you get ready."
"Oh my god Sarah! I have a date!"
"All the men come to you, huh?"
"I guess so! I feel like I'm in some kind f love triangle. Jason, Danny, now David."
"Oooo, David. Sounds sophisticated." Sarah giggles
"He's a bit older than me."
"How much older?"
"He's like thirty! He has his own business."
"Wow, mature is always good too. You've been around too many immature boys."
"I guess so... I'm going out with a man!"
"That's right! Thank god!"
