Chapter 1
A Few Weeks Later
~Your P.O.V~
It seemed almost horrible. Like it had never happened.
You were sitting on your couch, watching the news, another murder had taken place. Another child had lost their life in a cruel way. Another flash of the tall clown standing over you flashed in your mind.
"Curiosity killed the cat you know~" He had chuckled. It was stuck in your mind.
You had almost died. Almost been ripped to pieced by that... Thing.
Whatever it was.
You groaned and ran your hands through your (h/c) hair, pulling at the ends. The memory of running away from him, of turning back and seeing him following you. You wondered why he hadn't attacked you yet, why he had left you alone.
It had been over a month, about 6 weeks.
Did he just give up? He's clearly gone back to murdering children, so maybe you were in the clear. You sighed and leant your head back. You remember finally reaching your home. It was as if it happened yesterday.
~Flashback~
You slammed the door shut, panting and holding your phone close to your chest.
-He was following me... He's going to kill me!- Your thoughts were racing through your mind.
Taking a deep breath, you tried to calm your racing heart. With a quick glance out the window near your door, you sighed in relief when no monochrome clown stood smiling his evil smile. You rubbed your head, before turning back to your phone. The photo.
You opened it up and your (e/c) eyes widened.
There was no clown. The photo was just an empty ally.
What WAS this creature?
You frowned, who cares. Either way it's a killer, and you needed to get him locked up. So, dialling 000 (Australian's 911), you continued to try and calm your racing heart.
"Hello, this is 000, what is the problem?"
"I-I..." You stopped, how should you word this?
"Ma'am?"
"I uh... I saw the killer..." You said slowly, "The one that's been murdering the kids."
"Right. I'll put you through to the police station. Please hold."
A moment of awkward silence followed, some lame 'on hold' music was ringing in your ear, and you leant against the door. Finally someone on the other end answered.
"Hello, this is the Police department, please give us your name and the issue at hand." The female voice said.
"Hi, my name is (Y/N) (L/N) and I wanted to uh... I have information on the one killing the children."
"Would you be able to come down to the station Mrs. (L/N)?"
"I don't know, I think he's after me now..." You sighed and glanced out the window again. It was still clear.
"I see. Do you want to give us your address?"
"I suppose I could..." You gave her your location, already starting to feel better.
"Right, well thank you (Y/N), some officers should arrive for the information immediately."
And with that you hung up.
It took nearly an hour, but the police finally arrived. You had sat against the front door, not sure what else to do but wait and hope that clown didn't appear. The sound of knocking jerked you out of a light snooze, and you raised your gaze to the door.
Opening it, you were relieved to see the two officers in blue, one holding a note-pad and the other scratching his head.
"Are you (Y/N) (L/N)?" The one scratching his head asked.
"Yes." You nodded, before stepping aside, "Come in..."
The two nodded and walked in, taking a quick glance at your home.
"Ma'am, I'm officer Della, and this is Officer Kingsley. He'll take down any notes that will help us find this killer."
"Thank you..." You closed the door quickly, before motioning them to the living room. They happily took a seat, both turning to you intently. You sat in front of them, holding onto your legs. A sudden feeling of nausea washed over you.
-What if they don't believe me? I may as well be in a movie then...-
Taking a deep breath, you offered both officers a smile, "What do you need to know..?"
"Did you catch a name, or an appearance?" Officer Della asked.
"Um... I'm not sure, but the kid he was... Hurting at the time referred to him as... LJ."
"LJ? And do you know what that means?" Della leant forward as Kingsley started scribbling in the notebook.
"Uh.. No..."
"Oh, well what did he look like?"
You gave a small, nervous laugh, "I don't know... I don't think you'll believe me."
"Please ma'am, we need to know."
You sighed and rubbed your head, "Okay but... It will sound crazy."
Even Kingsley was staring at you now, his silence seemed to be urging you on.
"Well uh... He was dressed like a clown.." You started, and the officer continued to write down your words, "But it wasn't colourful, it was all black and white. He uh... He was pale, white, probably face paint? I don't know..."
You groaned and rubbed your face, not wanting to picture the clown at all.
"Go on.." Della urged.
"Well... He had a weird shaped nose... Like a stripy cone... And he had long black claws instead of fingers... And he stood probably as tall as my roof..."
"Ma'am this is serious." Della sighed.
"I know. And I swear I'm telling the truth." You raised your gaze to him, "I told you officer, I told you it would sound crazy but that's what I saw. He had black hair, and his eyes were a silver. He had sharp teeth as well."
The officer shook his head, "You said there was a kid there? Was that kid Zackery Young?"
"I think so... I saw his mother looking for him earlier."
"And you didn't think to call for help?" Della raised a brow, "(Y/N).. What were you doing in town?"
"I was.. Buying candy.."
"Buying candy? For what reasons?"
You stopped, staring at the brunette male, "Sir, are you suggesting I murdered the child? That I'm the one that stuffs candy into their dead bodies?"
"Well, I'm not saying you aren't.." He leant back, resting his foot on his knee, "It just seems weird that you see the killer and don't call for help."
"But I did! After I ran away! But he followed me!"
"A.. Tall monochrome clown?"
"Yes!"
He sighed and shook his head, standing, "Ma'am, if this is a prank, you will be fined."
"It's not a prank! I saw it happen with my own eyes!" This is exactly what you feared, you had to think of something so they wouldn't leave, "Officer, you have seen movies yes? Please don't make this like a movie."
"And how will I make this like a movie?"
"You know, the main character runs to the police, claims something crazy, and you guys ignore them. You know what happens next? They die. The main character, or the police, or someone dies. Please Officer Della, you have to believe me."
He stared at you for a while, his eyes seeming to glare into your soul, "Fine then... Answer me this one question..."
You nodded quickly.
"Why were you buying candy?"
You sighed and smiled, "I have low blood sugar... Any sort of sweet helps me keep conscious."
"I see..." He sighed, running his fingers through his brown hair, "And, you are positive that the killer is some 7 foot tall clown? What weapon does he use?"
"I'm not sure... He has claws though, so I think he uses those."
"Right. Well we'll take this.. 'Information' into consideration when the next child is murdered." He nodded to Officer Kingsley, who stood silently, "Thank you (Y/N), hopefully the killer is caught and locked away."
You nodded slowly, before your eyes widened, "Wait! He's probably after me now! Can't someone stay in case he attacks?"
The officers glanced at each other, and Della sighed, "I suppose... But we'll need your details."
You smiled and nodded, before giving the two officers your phone number, and answering a few of their questions.
"Right, well we'll send an officer as soon as possible." Della said, crossing his arms. You couldn't help but think that he seemed displeased, "However they won't be near you or anything, just around the area, we'll have your house under watch in case anything suspicious happens."
"Anything suspicious?" You gaped, "I told you, I'm not the killer!"
"Yes but if you are right about the killer, I'm sure he'll have his own tricks up his sleeves, so if anything seems out of the ordinary, the officer on duty will happily call for your assistance."
"Oh.. Right, well thank you both." You lead them to the front door.
"It was no problems, besides, I'm sure we'll catch the killer eventually."
And with that they left.
~End Flashback~
You sighed to yourself, leaning your head back on the couch. Looking back at it you couldn't help but wonder if the only reason Officer Della even agreed to send you a 'body guard' was to make sure that you really weren't the killer.
Some officers.
Although you couldn't really blame them, it did seem strange that you had bought candy that day and witnessed the murder. But you knew that they had ruled you out the moment the next child was murdered, since they had an officer watching you.
Although you wondered if there even was someone watching after you, or if it was the right person. For all you knew, a killer clown could be stalking you, the officer could have never arrived or could have been slaughtered as well.
The odds were endless.
But still you sat, curled up and watching the TV as they explained the newest victim's murder. Much like the others, grotesque. A sudden knock on the front door made you jump. Who could that be..? Maybe the officer? Or Della?
Standing slowly, you walked to the front door, gripping the handle tightly. You felt nausea, frozen at the wooden door, the feeling of dread was suddenly making your stomach sink. The thought of the clown standing at the door was all that ran through your mind.
Even still, you opened it slowly, looking around the open area. It was empty, no tall stripy murderers stood in your doorway.
Sighing, you rubbed your head, "I guess he moved on... Funny it took me nearly a month to figure it out..."
But then a metallic smell entered your nose and you froze, before turning your gaze to the floor.
And screamed.
