12: Moonlight
Aisha arrived in Bali, greeted by the tropical warmth and the gentle hum of the ocean waves. The island's beauty was breathtaking, but as she disembarked and retrieved her luggage, a message pinged on her phone. It was from Misha.
"I might stay back on this one. Things didn't go as planned with Veer."
Aisha sighed, feeling a pang of disappointment. She had hoped that Misha would be with her, but she understood her friend needed more time.
Veer's reaction must have hit her harder than expected. Determined to focus on the task at hand, Aisha shook off her worries and made her way to the luxurious resort where the wedding festivities were to be held.
The resort was stunning, with its open-air design and views of the azure ocean. It was fully booked by the Kumar family, leaving an air of exclusivity and importance. Aisha checked in and was soon in her room, admiring the view when she heard a knock at the door.
Ryan stood there, looking as handsome as ever. "Ready to debrief over lunch?" he asked with a charming smile.
"Sure," Aisha replied, grabbing her things.
They walked to the resort's restaurant, settling at a table overlooking the beach.
The conversation flowed easily as they discussed the details of the first event: a dinner for the close family members.
They lost track of time, the sun dipping lower in the sky. As they wrapped up their discussion, Ryan suggested, "How about we grab dinner together?"
"Why not?" Aisha replied, not thinking too much about it.
Dinner was a delightful affair, the food exquisite. Aisha took a bite of a particularly delicious dish, a soft moan escaping her lips. She was so absorbed in the flavors that she missed the darkening of Ryan's eyes and the clenching of his jaw.
When did a simple moan start turning him on? he wondered haking his head slightly to clear his thoughts.
After dinner, they parted ways to their respective rooms. But Aisha, feeling the pull of Bali's enchanting beaches, decided to take advantage of her free evening. She grabbed a towel, and headed to the beach.
The stretch of sand was empty, the waves gently lapping at the shore under the moonlight. Aisha's eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief. She glanced around to make sure she was alone, then stripped off her clothes, leaving them in a neat pile before sprinting into the cold, refreshing water.
The sensation was exhilarating, the cool waves lapping at her skin and the moon casting a silver glow over everything. She floated on her back, feeling the stresses of the past months wash away.
She was so lost in the moment that she didn't notice the figure approaching until it was almost upon her. At first, she was startled, thinking it might be hotel security. But as the figure stepped into the moonlight, she saw it was Ryan.
Ryan's eyes flicked to the pile of clothes on the sand and then back to Aisha.
"Aisha Kapoor, you wild girl," he said, a teasing lilt in his voice.
Aisha giggled, her laughter echoing over the waves. "You're missing out on the fun."
Before she knew it, Ryan had stripped off his clothes and waded into the water, joining her. He swam closer, and they both admired the full moon, its light reflecting off the water's surface.
"Isn't it beautiful?" Aisha asked, her voice soft with wonder.
"It is," Ryan replied, though his eyes were fixed on her.
They fell into an easy conversation, talking about their lives, their dreams, and the serendipity of meeting again. The intellectual connection they shared was deepening, and Aisha found herself drawn to Ryan in a way she hadn't expected.
As the night grew darker, the temperature dropped. Aisha began to shiver, the cold seeping into her bones. Ryan noticed and moved closer, wrapping his arms around her to share his warmth. Their naked bodies pressed together, and an electric current seemed to pass between them.
Ryan's face was a study in internal conflict, his brows furrowed as he struggled with his desires. The moonlight highlighted Aisha's features, her wet hair framing her face in a way that made her irresistible. He couldn't hold back any longer.
Their eyes locked, and in a heartbeat, he closed the distance between them, capturing her lips in a passionate kiss.
Aisha gasped, her arms instinctively wrapping around his neck, pulling him closer.
The kiss was intense, filled with pent-up desire and unspoken longing. Ryan's hands roamed over her back, fingers tracing the lines of her spine, pulling her even closer. Aisha's hands moved to his hair, tangling in the vet strands as she kissed him back with equal fervour.
Their bodies moved together in the water, the gentle waves lapping at them, adding to the intensity of the moment. Ryan deepened the kiss, his tongue exploring her mouth, tasting her, claiming her. Aisha responded with a hunger she hadn't felt in a long time, her moans mingling with the sound of the waves.
The world around them seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them and their shared passion. Ryan's hands slid down to her hips, pulling her flush against him. She could feel his arousal, hard and insistent against her stomach, and it sent a thrill of excitement through her.
Breaking the kiss, Ryan rested his forehead against hers, both of them breathing heavily. "Aisha," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "We are crossing the line, but I want too."
Aisha's heart pounded in her chest, her own desires mirrored in his eyes. "Me too," she confessed, her voice barely a whisper.
They kissed again, slower this time, savoring the connection, the intimacy.
The beach, the moonlight, the cool water
—all of it seemed to conspire to make this moment perfect.
Eventually, the cold became too much, and they reluctantly pulled apart. Hand in hand, they waded back to the shore, retrieving their clothes. They dressed in silence, the air between them charged with a new understanding.
As they walked back to the resort, Aisha felt a sense of contentment she hadn't felt in a long time. Whatever happened next, she knew that this night, this moment with Ryan, was something she would always cherish.
Back in her room, Aisha couldn't stop smiling. The day had been long and filled with surprises, but it ended on a note she hadn't expected. As she lay in bed, the events of the night played over in her mind, the feel of Ryan's lips, the warmth of his embrace, the intensity of their connection.
She knew the next few weeks would be hectic, filled with the demands of planning a grand wedding. But for now, she let herself bask in the afterglow of the night, feeling a sense of anticipation for what the future might hold.
