Chapter 3
The drive to the FBI agency was long and tiresome. During the entire trip, I kept thinking about jumping and out of the SUV just to get away from these men.
Ever since we left the police academy graduation both agent Rick Miller and his partner who I later found out was called agent Randy Munn, have been constantly getting on my last nerves.
I mean I don't know which one is worse. Between Randy's constant smacking of his gum or Rick who keeps grunting every five minutes makes me want to open my door and jump out just to get away from them.
Leaning back in my seat I feel my phone vibrate in my pants pocket and pull it out, only to see that its a text from Eric, my live-in boyfriend of two years. Quickly, I open his text and read what it says.
"Hey babe, where are you? I thought you were coming with your folks to Sunset Cafe for your graduation party."
After looking at his message I sat quietly there for a few minutes until I finally figured out what to say back to him.
"I'm sorry, Eric. Some things have come up and I won't be back home until some time later."
After hitting send I placed my phone back into my pocket and relaxed back against the seat and took a short nap.
However, several minutes into my nap I felt a warm hand shake me and heard a voice say. "Hey, dammit wake-up we're here."
I opened my eyes and rubbed them a bit before replying back. "Where is here?"
I heard agent Rick grunt in annoyance before I heard him respond back to me. "We're at the FBI agent, you dumbass. Now, hurry up and get out of the vehicle. There is someone that we would like you to meet."
I quickly opened my door and got out and followed behind agent Rick and agent Randy until they stopped at a large glass door. The look of the massive glass and metal building was intimidating.
As I continued to eye the building I heard the sound of agent Rick press a button and then heard it buzz, and then felt a hand grab my arm and roughly pull me through the open doorway, inside the building.
Once inside I was led down a hallway until we stopped at a large solid wooden door. I watched as agent Rick slipped his hand into his pants pocket and pulled his wallet out and then grabbed a card, then slid it through a card reader that was on the door.
As soon as the card reader beeped I watched as agent Rick opened the door and motioned with his hand for me. "Ladies first." He said and then turned on the light.
Once inside the room, I noticed the white-bricked walls and the stainless steel metal table that was centered off to one side of the room with a black office phone, along with four grey colored chairs.
As I continued to look around I heard the sound of the door close behind me and watched as agent Rick and agent Randy walked over to the table and sat down an envelope on the table. And then heard agent Randy say to me.
"Please, have a seat." He said before he took a seat of his own.
I quickly took a seat opposite them and waited for one of them to speak. However, instead, I watched as agent Rick grabbed the phone that was sitting beside him and pressed a button that was beside the receiver and then I heard the voice of a woman speak on the other end.
"Prison ward. Carol speaking."
"Yes. Carol this is agent Rick Miller. Can you please have Kaz sent up to interrogation room number 12? We're ready for him."
"Yes, sir. We will bring him up in a few minutes."
I watched as agent Rick loosened his tie before he responded back to her. "That will be fine." He said and then ended the call.
Once the call was over I watched as agent Rick pushed the phone over to the other side of the table and then take off his jacket and placed it on the back of his chair.
As I continued to sit there silently I watched as agent Randy placed his hands on his table before I heard him speak to me. "Now, fair warning before they bring Kaz in here. I want you on your best behavior when he comes in here."
"Oh. And why is that?" I asked a bit smugly as I leaned against the table.
I watched as agent Rick leaned closer towards my side of the table before he spoke to me. "Well, that's because Kaz has a bad habit of being a bit violent. Well, not a bit more like a lot."
I shook my head a bit at what he had just said to me. It freaked me out a bit that these men would have me in a room with someone who they considered ultra-violent.
As I tried to shake myself out of the fog that I was stuck in, I heard the sound of the door open and then heard the sound of heavy chains along with it.
Looking up, I saw a very large man with long black hair, standing there dressed in a pair of black jeans, a white V-neck t-shirt which clearly showed the tattoos that he had on his neck, and a long black trench coat that went down to his knees, along with a pair of black combat boots.
My mind drew a blank when I saw him as my brain couldn't really process what I was actually seeing. As I sat there trying to collect my thoughts I watched as the two armed guards lead the man that they called Kaz over to the chair that was beside me and had him sit down, then unchained his hands and then left the room and closed the door behind them.
As soon as they left and I was left alone with Kaz and the two agents. I heard the sound of a baritone laugh before I heard the man called Kaz speak.
"So, this is the cute little minx that you found for me." I heard him say before I felt his hand stroke my leg gently.
"Would you please keep your hands to yourself," I said angrily as I grabbed his hand and placed it back over to his lap.
"Damn, Rick. You really picked a feisty one for me. I like them fiesty, and you picked my type too. The petite blonde." He replied with a grin.
I shook my head in anger before finally standing from my chair and slamming my hands down on the table, loudly shouted. "Would you two please get on with it already, tell me why I am stuck beside this bafoon!"
"Alright, alright. Sit down miss Hansen and we will explain what's going on here." Agent Randy replied.
Sitting down, I crossed my arms across my chest and stared back at the two agents angrily and listened as agent Randy began to speak.
"Miss Hansen, you were chosen for this special job because of you graduating at the top of your class from the police academy. We value your skills very much here at this FBI agency. Now, the reason why we brought you here is that of a problem that has occurred recently."
"And what kind of a problem is that?" I asked.
"Well, a copycat serial killer has popped up and we are having problems with catching him." Agent Rick replied.
"That sounds more like your problem than mine. I still don't understand why you need me."
"Well, sugar. You are here to make sure that I catch the bastard." I heard Kaz respond.
Feeling a bit curious about Kaz, I turned and looked at him and asked. "What do they mean copycat serial killer. What kind of serial killer are you, Kaz?"
"Oh, sweetheart. I'm the worst kind. I'm known as the Bronx Ripper. I kill the pathetic excuses of slime that walk this earth. My method of killing is violent and painful. I just love to see my victims beg and plead for their lives." He replied with a knowing smirk.
"So, you're a man who loves to see people in pain. That's utterly disgusting." I said as I turned my head from him.
"It's not disgusting, little one. It's actually fun. You should try it some time."
"Yea, I would think not. There is no way in hell that I am listening to this any longer. In fact, I'm leaving." I said as I stood from my chair and tried to get around Kaz's massive body.
The next thing that I knew I heard the sound of Kaz tisk before he spoke again. "Oh, you're not leaving, little one. In fact, you're going to be stuck with me for a very long time. Partner."
"Why did you just called me partner? And why is he saying that I'll be stuck with him for a very long time?" I asked the two agents.
"Well, you see miss Hansen. You and Kaz are going to be partners for this special assignment. In fact, Kaz will be living with you in your home until this case is solved." Agent Rick replied as he grabbed his jacket from the back of his chair and slipped it on.
"I can't have a serial killer living with me. I already live with my boyfriend and I don't think that that is going to work out all too well." I replied angrily.
"Don't worry, little one. I can take care of that problem if you would like. Maybe I could turn him into sushi. Yeah, that would be fun." Kaz replied, then laughed in enjoyment at what he had just said.
"No, Kaz! Bad Kaz! You will not turn my boyfriend into sushi! I'll just have to come up with some excuse to keep him away from my place for a while." I said as I tried to think about what to tell Eric.
As I continued to think about what to tell Eric. I heard the sound of three chairs scoot back across the floor and then saw all three men stand and then heard agent Randy speak.
"Well, now that, that little matter has been solved. Let's take you two back to miss Hansen's little home so that we can get Kaz situated."
With everyone out of the room, Kaz and I were ushered outside and into the back of agent Randy and agent Rick's SUV, driven back towards my place. The only thing that I could think of the entire car ride was what kind of hell I was being placed into.
