KING

Maddy didn't talk to me the rest of the day, nor the rest of the night. It bothered me. I should've seen this. The way she talks to me or smiles at me. Even the way she gets pissed were all clues. How did I not see this coming?

"KING!"I heard someone shout.

I jumped out of bed and ran into Lay's room. She sat on her bed with a picture, and Maddy was beside her wrapped in a towel.

"What's going on?"I asked shifting my weight to my left leg and leaning on the frame.

"I was taking a shower, and your daughter was in here screaming her lungs out. She wants you to build a treehouse,"She said getting up.

I rolled my eyes.

"Pweaaseeeeeee,"Lay asked pulling on my shirt.

"I guess so. Now go downstairs and watch tv until I get you some cereal."

She shouted and ran down the stairs. Maddy rolled her eyes and slipped past me going down the hall. I followed her as she pulled her hair up. Outrage filled my body as I stared at her back. I grabbed her shoulder and yanked her back into my arms examining her marks.

"What the fuck King?"She tried to get out of my grip.

"What the fuck is this Madison?"I asked running my hands over it.

"None of your business,"She yanked away from me and ran to her room.

I caught the door and opened it up. I knew Grace stayed last night, because she said she would kill Malachi in his sleep. I didn't care but Maddy did. Lay is probably in there bothering her.

"King get out!"She shouted.

"Maddy I'm here for you. Don't push me out."

"King-H-He b-Be-beat me,"She cried.

"It was that nigga freeway!"I shouted beating my fist against the wall.

She jumped in fear and held onto me crying.

"King lis-"

"Nah man! I'm fucking kill him!"I shouted grabbing my phone.

"KING!"she shouted getting my attention. "It wasn't him."

"Then who the fuck was it?"I asked looking at her.

"It was my father...but It's all ok!"She said faking a smile.

"How is this ok Madison?"I asked.

"King can I put on my clothes please?"

I sat down on her bed.

"Nah you do what you gotta do. We gon talk."

She rolled her eyes and walked in the bathroom slamming the door. I sighed and knocked on the door slightly.

"Leave me alone,"She said with slight sniffles.

"Listen Maddy... I thought about what you said. I'm sorry I wasn't there when you needed. Honestly I kinda like you too. Your good with my baby and even my mother likes you. I ain't never had butterflies in my stomach, but I got them now. Maddy just let me be here for you. Let me be ya man,"I said nervously.

The door opened and I felt arms wrap around my neck hugging me tightly. I pulled her up on me and she wrapped her legs around my waist.

"I honestly thought you would never ask,"She said in my ear.

She had on these little blue shorts and a white tanktop on.

"So when am I moving out?"She asked.

"Umm that's a problem because....Ikindanevergottheapartmentrebuilt,"I rushed.
