Flabber Gassed
Arabella's POV
I was in the Man Cave with everyone, including Mary too, and we were playing a fighting video game. It was boys against the girls, because we finally have enough to do three vs. three now and I'm happy to admit that us girls are undefeated. I don't know where Schwoz was, but he's probably doing something smart.
Right now, I was kicking Henry's butt in the game and he was failing miserably. It's sad that I'm better than him and he's the superhero sidekick.
Girl power, am I right?
"Yes! Yes, Henry!" My dad cheered as we were fighting, "finish her!"
"Finish her!" Jasper yelled.
"Come on, Bella!" Charlotte cheered.
"You got this, girl!" Mary cheered, "we must keep our winning streak!"
"He's finally gonna dethrone the queens!" My dad exclaimed and Mary hits his arm.
"No! Bella will defeat Henry!" She exclaimed.
"I'm gonna do it!" Henry laughed, right before I knocked a bunch of his health away and he began to panic. "Wait! What's happening?!"
"No!"
"Yes!" Charlotte and Marry yelled together.
"Get him!" Mary laughed as I throw a bunch of kicks and punches at him.
"I'm loosing health!" Henry panicked and he was almost down.
"Run, Henry!" My dad yelled and Henry began to run, but I followed his character until he reached the wall and I threw a kick at him, knocking him out.
"No!" Henry cried and us three girls cheered with victory.
"Yes!" We laughed and Mary and Charlotte came up to me and we hugged as the boys mourned over their loss.
"Haha, you got your butt whooped," Mary taunted and I smiled as I quit the match.
"I was just about to beat you," Henry breathed heavily.
"Well, sometimes I like to play with my opponent, before I strike like a cobra!" I exclaimed, kicking the air and Charlotte and Mary hi-fived me.
"Well, sometimes the cobra hurts the person's feelings." Henry reasoned and I smirked at him.
My dad approached me and I gave him a look.
"Alright, Bella, you've proven you can defeat boy hair, let's see how you do against fully grown man hair," my dad challenged and I chuckled.
"I've beaten your butt hundreds of times, it's Mary's turn " I remarked and she stepped up to him.
"You're going down," she told him and my dad got in her face, "get ready for face my fiery."
"I'm ready to face and destroy it," he remarked and she raised an eyebrow as he turned to Henry, "bye bye."
Henry sat down next to Jasper and Charlotte and I joined them.
"Hey, has anyone seen the big toenail clippers?" We turned and saw Schwoz walk out, rubbing a bunny on his head, "what?"
"Are you drying yourself with a rabbit?" I asked him, scratching my head.
"Yes," Schwoz said.
"Okay," Henry and I both said and I leaned into his chest with his arm draping around my body.
"I'll just ask the obvious question here, why?" Charlotte asked.
"Yeah, why?"
"Why a bunny?"
"I like bunnies."
"Yeah, where are the big toenail clippers?"
"Why just use towels?"
You can probably guess who said what.
"Because I sent all of our towels to the cleaners and they all got stolen," Schwoz explained.
"Oh, yeah," Mary chirped, "my towels got stolen too!"
"So did mine!" Charlotte added.
"Same with us," Henry mentioned.
"We haven't had towels in my house for years," Jasper chimed in.
That's a little concerning.
Schwoz was ringing out the bunny and all the water was getting all over the floor and it was a little gross.
"Ew," I grimaced.
"You're getting water all over the Man Floor!" My dad berated Schwoz.
"Sorry, sorry," Schwoz apologized and put the bunny down.
"Don't-Don't-Ah!" My dad groaned as Schwoz whipped the floor with the bunny and Mary groaned.
"Ah, that's a little weird," She stated, "last time I checked, bunnies aren't meant for mopping."
Henry got up and faced my dad, "maybe, we should track down whoever's stealing these towels."
My dad scoffed, "pfft! I don't care about a towel thief! We fight real crime, okay? We do important things, heroic things. Now, can I please get back to beating my girlfriend in a video game? Thank you!"
Sounds heroic to me.
Henry sat back down with Charlotte and I as Jasper set up the next round.
"Okay, Bear Vs. Hair! Round Two and...fight!" Jasper announced and the fight commenced.
The battle started off great for Mary as she was already kicking his butt.
"Uh...okay," my dad stuttered nervously and I laughed.
"Get him, Mary!" I called and Charlotte cheered.
"Woooo!"
"Uh, hang on, if I could just-" my dad paused when his character got lit on fire, "why am I on fire?!"
"Because she's roasting you!" I yelled, "what a queen!"
"Finish him!" Jasper yelled right before the emergency call blared and Schwoz went to check it.
"Emergency alert!" Schwoz announced.
"Pause, pause, pause!" My dad frantically said and paused the game, causing Mary to get upset, "uh, emergency alert! Uh, game over, doesn't count."
I got up and walked over to an annoyed Mary and rubbed her shoulder.
"He's a sore loser," I muttered and she chuckled.
"My sore loser."
We all went up to the monitor.
"Sweetie, I was just about to beat you," Mary objected and he shrugged.
"Guess we'll never know," Mary rolled her eyes at his words and I smiled in amusement. "Schwoz, uh, who needs saving?"
"Someone is carrying a large load of towels into an abandoned laundry mat in the Old Washing District!" Schwoz explained to us as we all looked at the screen in front of us.
"Well, we've got to deal with this towel situation right away," my dad declared and I shook my head.
"I thought you said you didn't care about the towel thief?" Charlotte wondered aloud.
"Uh, that was then, this is now, people change, read a book!" My dad shot back with a sassy voice, before walking by us and getting out his gum. "Come on, kid! Let's pop some gum!"
"So you don't have to lose to Mary!" Henry smirked and I smiled as Mary chuckled, "chum."
They put the gum into their mouths, before chewing and blowing a bubble. It popped and transformed them into Captain Man and Kid Danger.
Mary and I smile at the sight and sighed.
"Never gets old," we say together and both boys winked at us, before they kissed our cheeks. My dad kissing Mary's and Henry kissing mine.
"Wait, wait!" Schwoz called, putting the rabbit in Jasper's arms and they turned to him. "You should take your new battle suits!"
"What?"
"What's a battle soup?"
"No, battle suits!" Schwoz corrected and pulled out an orange gum container, "I just invented them last night in the tub!"
"Sorry, what'd he say?" Henry asked as Schwoz poured himself a gum ball and popped it into his mouth. He chewed it and blew a bubble, before it popped and a full on battle suit covered his body.
"Woah," I smiled.
"Woah!" Jasper gasped and placed the bunny in Charlotte's arms, despite her discomfort.
"Ah! Ah!" She struggled, "it's still wet."
Jasper went up to them with excitement, "what does a battle suit do?"
"Well, it makes you stronger, makes you punch harder, and it kinda smells like French vanilla," Schwoz explained and let Jasper sniff his hand.
"Oooo!" Jasper smiled and sniffed his head.
"Uh, Schwoz, this is cute, but uh, I don't know if you know this, but I'm superhero," my dad reminded him and I rolled my eyes. "I have a superpower."
Oh boy, here we go.
"I also have a superpower," Henry added.
"See, I'm Indestructible."
"I have super fast reflexes," Henry added in and I gave them a look.
Their cockiness is showing and it's not the most attractive thing I've seen.
"And we both smell pretty nice on our own," My dad continued.
"We smell good!" Henry smiled and I couldn't argue with that.
"It's true, they do," Mary nodded, getting a wink from her boyfriend.
"Man, you guys have really gotten cocky lately," Charlotte mentioned and I nodded.
"Mhm."
"What?!" My dad asked with shock.
"Cocky. You know, overconfident, big ego, full of yourself-"
"I know what cocky means!" My dad snapped at Jasper, "by the way, it isn't cocky, if it's true!"
"Fact," Henry smiled, before they went over to the tubes
"Come on, Kid Danger, let's go fight some crime." My dad chuckled, before turning around and tripping onto the steps to the tubes. I raised an eyebrow at him as he covered it by doing push-ups.
"Just doing some pre-fight pushups, ya know? Like I always do," My dad lied, trying to cover up his embarrassing moment.
"Never seen you do them before," Schwoz remarked.
"We know you're lying."
"Please don't lie to me, hun."
"Dad, you're just embarrassing yourself."
"Push-up contest! Let's go!" Jasper yelled and went down to floor, before doing push-ups. "One! Two!"
Oh Jasper, never change, darling.
——
Later, Charlotte and I were watching Jasper play the video game and he wasn't doing too well against the computer. It was horrible to watch him get his butt kicked by a level two computer.
Schwoz and Mary had gone out to find my dad and Henry, because they had some issues and didn't win the fight against the towel thief. I guess their cockiness got the best of them and let the thief win.
"How am I doing?!" Jasper yelled over the music that was blasting through his headphones.
"You are shockingly bad at this game," I mentioned.
"I can't hear you!" Jasper yelled and I got up and walked over to the screen, pausing the game and dodging his kicks. Charlotte stood up and motioned him to remove his headphones.
"Why do you have headphones on?" Charlotte asked him.
"I find the music-" Jasper cleared his throat and lowered his voice. "I find that the music helps me fight better."
Jasper continued to fight and the elevator doors open. Schwoz and Mary both walked in, carrying a bag each and I could hear my dad and Henry struggling and complaining inside them.
"We're back!" Mary beamed and she and Schwoz put down the bags on the beanbag chairs.
"Did you find Ray and Henry?" Charlotte asked them.
"No, we found Batman and Robin," Mary smiled sarcastically and I grinned at her. "But yeah, we found them."
"Yeah, they're fine!" Schwoz dismissed.
"No, we are not fine!" My dad snapped.
"We were thrown through a window!" Henry added as we slowly went over to the bag to unzip them.
"I also lost my car keys!"
"We are the opposite of fine!"
"They're fine," Mary assured us and I nodded, before we both unzipped the bags to reveal two very dirty superheroes. A very horrific smell emitted from the bags causing the four of us to gag, moving away.
"Oh!" I gagged, coughing.
"That's horrendous!"
"Ew!"
"You smell like my sister's barn!"
"Well, we were dumped into a sewer!" My dad snarled.
"By a giant named Barge, who takes orders from a towel!" Henry added.
"Why'd you let him do that?" I asked them and they gave me a look.
"He didn't offer us another option, Airy," Henry remarked, bitterly and I shrugged.
"Just curious."
"We can't move our bodies!" My dad groaned.
"Because Barge sprayed us with flabber gas!" Henry exclaimed.
"Flabber gas?" Schwoz asked.
"Yeah!"
"But, that's almost impossible to find," Schwoz began, "how would a low level towel thief get some flabber gas?"
"Who cares just fix us," my dad groaned.
"Yeah, can you fix us, Schwoz?" Henry asked him.
"Yeah, of course."
They boys cheered at that.
"You're the best, Schwoz!"
"If I had a can of flabber gas," Schwoz added and the two boys groaned with defeat.
"No!"
"Girls, will one of you please pick up my arm and use it to smack, Schwoz," my dad asked us and I folded my arms.
"No."
"I'm good."
"Well, I would, but I need my hand to scratch my head. Because I'm confused," Charlotte remarked, scratching her head and Mary and I nodded.
"Me too."
"Same here."
The boys groaned at us.
"God, it's her lecture voice," my dad groaned.
"Well, if you don't want to listen to my lecture, you are free to get up and walk away?" Charlotte offered and Mary, Schwoz, and I laughed with Charlotte.
"Haha!" I laughed, "nice one!"
"Yes, queen," Mary laughed as we hi-fived her.
"High five! Cause we can use our arms!" Schwoz laughed, taunting the boys and Mary and I purposely waved our arms in front of them.
The boys mocked us and I gave them a smile.
"Okay, here's what we don't understand, we thought that you guys were superheroes with superpowers." I explained to them with a mocking voice.
"Henry, don't listen to your girlfriend, she's using our words against us!" My dad exclaimed with panic.
"No, wait, wait," Henry protested, "the girls might be on to something."
"God, it's already working," my dad said.
"What was that, Ray?" Mary asked my dad and he his eye grew.
"Nothing, honey!"
"We just think that if you guys weren't so cocky, that you would've beaten Barge and wouldn't have ended up all smelly and flabby on bean bags," Mary explained to them.
"You don't know that," my dad countered and Mary kicked the bean bag, "I'm sorry! I'm sorry, my love!"
"Dude, you know what? They're right!" Henry sighed and I smiled, "but what are we gonna do now? Okay, Barge is out there stealing towels and we can't do anything about it, because we can't even move."
"Girls! Can you come help me beat this guy?!" Jasper called and Mary got a call on her phone. "I can't do it!"
"It's my daughter, I'll be back," Mary told us, before walking away from us.
Charlotte and I went up to Jasper to help him fight the very easy computer.
"Whatever!"
"I'm in!"
We both grabbed Jasper's arms and assisted him in fighting the guy.
Not to long after, Schwoz yelled out my name and I turned to him.
"Bella! Go get your motion capture suit!"
I panicked, "uh, okay!"
I ran off to my room to go get my suit in a rush.
——
"How we doing, Schwoz?"
Schwoz had this brilliant idea to pair the battle suits he made with the motion capture suits for the video game. This will allow the people wearing the motion capture suits, Jasper and I, to control the people wearing battle suits, my dad and Henry. I'm a little concerned on why Schwoz chose Jasper to control my dad, because my dad finds him annoying and Jasper's isn't a great fighter. But, I get to control Henry and I've never been happier. It's also based on weight and height as well, so Jasper was a better fit for my dad. I'm about half the size of both Henry and my dad, so it wouldn't have mattered anyway. I'm five-two and a half at eighty-eight pounds, while Henry is five-ten and and is around one hundred fifty pounds.
"Yeah, are we paired yet? Why can't we move?" Henry asked Schwoz.
"What is taking so long?" My dad asked.
"It was more difficult than I thought to modify my battle suits to receive a signal from the suits Jasper and Bella are wearing," Schwoz explained.
"How do you even do that?" Henry asked as Schwoz turned on the battle suits.
"I could explain it to you, but Charlotte and Mary are the only ones smart enough to understand," Schwoz sighed and the two girls smiled at that.
It's true, I would lose him after the first five seconds.
"Hey!" My dad exclaimed as Schwoz walked over to the monitors, "you think Charlotte and Mary are so smart."
"Yeah!" Schwoz agreed as Jasper and I stood by the boys.
"Yeah, you're right," My dad agreed and Mary and Charlotte grinned at that.
"If this works, than you two can control Captain Man and Kid Danger just like you control the bear and hair in the video game," Schwoz exclaimed and I smiled with excitement.
"Yeah, yeah! Then they can send us to find Barge and make him throw in the towel," Henry remarked and I smiled at him.
Oof, that was hot.
"Oh, that's good, you remember that when we get there," My dad mentioned to Henry.
Suddenly, my body got a little shock and I chuckled.
"Oh, something's happening," I said, before I lifted my hand and Henry copied my movement. "Woah!"
I looked over and saw my dad was copying Jasper's movements as well. I raised my left hand and Henry lifted his as well.
"That is so cool!" Charlotte smiled.
"Wow!" Mary beamed.
"I love this," I giggled and clapped my hands together and Henry did the same.
"Now, don't go abusing this," Henry advised me as I walked forward and he followed my actions.
"No promises," I winked and Henry rolled his eyes at me playfully.
"We're one in the same!" Jasper gasped.
"Let's not get carried away," My dad told him as Jasper walked forward and he followed him.
"Is this a bad time to say I have to pee?" Henry mentioned and I made a face.
"It's a very bad time," I replied, walking around with Henry.
"Then I will not say it," Henry told me and I smiled as I walked over to a tool box.
"Okay, watch this," I say as I bent down and pretended to put my hands on the tool box, so Henry would actually grab the tool box.
"Okay," Henry said.
"Grab that," I smile and made Henry grab the tool box and walked back over to the others.
"You made Henry grab the tool box," Charlotte smiled and I nodded.
"Yep!"
"Wait, these battle suits make you super strong, right?" I asked Schwoz.
"Yeah!"
I smirked and looked toward the tool box. I made Henry get ready to toss the tool box and he was confused.
"What are you doing, babe?" Henry asked me.
I made Henry toss the tool box into the air and made him punch it across the room, smashing into the elevator doors.
"Woah!" Jasper, my dad, and the girls gasped.
"Yay!" I giggled with happiness and made Henry jump up and down clapping, then Schwoz and the girls joined in with my celebration.
"Look at me! I'm a superhero!" Jasper beamed, before punching and kicking the air, "taste my fists and smells my kicks!"
"You are not a superhero," my dad denied Jasper.
"Raise your hand of your think Jasper's a superhero," Jasper smirked, raising his hand which cause my dad to raise his hand.
I smiled in amusement as my dad was annoyed.
"Jasper, please put my hand down," my dad asked him with irritation.
"Okay," Jasper shrugged and just switched his hands.
I snickered at this and Henry and I shared a look.
"Dang it!"
——
"Ray and Henry should be approaching the laundry mat now," Schwoz informed Jasper and I, as we walked across the room with goggles on to make us see what the two superheroes are seeing.
"Yeah, we can see everything through the cameras on their masks," I told Schwoz.
"I'm a superhero! Kablam!" Jasper exclaimed and made my dad throw a bunch of ridiculous punches and kicks.
"Schwoz, I would like to trade," my dad suggested with irritation, "can Mary step in? I do not want Jasper controlling me anymore."
"Nah, I'm enjoying this way too much," Mary chuckled and I could see the annoyance on my dad's face.
"Princess," Henry began and I listened to him, "walk me over to see if Barge is inside."
"Okay," I said and carefully made Henry walk over to the entrance and peek inside the window. I saw Barge inside the laundry mat and he was talking to a towel with a face on it. "I see him! Wow, he's really talking to a towel, isn't he?"
"Ray, check it out, Barge is inside and he's talking to-" Henry turned and we saw my dad doing the floss.
"I hate my life!" My dad scolded and I snickered.
"Jasper!" Henry exclaimed to his best friend, "quit it!"
"Oh, is it time for fighting?!" Jasper exclaimed, getting ready to fight.
"Yes," Henry sighed. "Now, last time we didn't have a plan."
"That's right kid, we didn't, but this time we do have a plan-"
"JASPER DUNLOP!"
I watched Jasper race forward, causing my dad to unwillingly sprint forward and into the laundry mat.
Like I said, never change, Jasper, darling.
"This was not the plan!" My dad yelled and I made Henry follow him inside.
"Sorry to 'barge' in," Henry greeted.
"I thought I flabber gassed you," Barge questioned, "how are you two moving?"
"You don't need to worry about that, de-bargeary," Henry remarked.
"Yeah, but what you do need to worry about is our fists!" My dad yelled and nothing happened, because we didn't make them move.
"You're gonna need all those towels to wipe this punch off your face!" Henry warned and nothing happened, because I was just confused.
Is this where we start fighting?
"To anyone who's listening, this would be the part where we normally start fighting!" My dad called to us and this got our attention.
"Oh, sorry!" I apologized.
"Right, sorry!"
I ran forward and jumped up, punching Barge in the face as Jasper made my dad run into the door.
"No, we're in the door!"
I ignored Jasper and my dad and made Henry kick Barge in the face and he fell down. Barge punched Henry, causing us both to stumble back and then my dad came up, throwing a kick, but Badge grabbed his foot and flipped him into a pile of towels.
"Ahhh!"
I made Henry leap onto Barge's back and I hit his shoulder.
"You are on the floor! Get up!" My dad ordered Jasper as Barge threw Henry off and made him land in a pile of towels.
I mad Henry roll to his feet and went over to the washer and dryers. I ignored Jasper's pleads to help him and flew open a washer, smacking Barge in the face and swiftly dodged a punch of his. I made Henry punch Barge twice and kicked him once.
"Captain Man! I need your help!" Henry called and I looked over to see my dad punching a washing machine. I yelped as Barge picked up Henry and tossed him through the customer service window. I made Henry stand up and leap onto the ledge, throwing a bunch of punches at Barge.
"This is not a video game!" I heard my dad berate and right then a bunch of coins fell out. "Huh, look at that."
Eventually, Barge stumbled back and I made Henry walk over to him as my dad was on the floor, picking up coins.
"You think you got me? Well, gas again!" Barge threatened and sprayed Henry, but it didn't affect him.
"Ahhhhhh-Nope!" Henry yelled and I kicked Barge into a pile of towels, making him drop the can of flabber gas.
"Finish him!" Jasper yelled out, accidentally knocking me down, which made Henry fall down as well.
"Jasper, what did you do?!" Schwoz asked Jasper in shock.
"Sorry!"
Mary helped me to my feet, but Henry was still in the pile of towels and Barge had attacked him and pulled him over to the other pile of towels.
"Ahh! A little help here!" Henry called out.
I started to elbow Barge, but nothing was working. "I'm doing stuff! But it's not working!"
"Captain Man! I need help!" Henry cried out as I continued to elbow Barge.
"What should I do?!" Jasper asked with panic.
"Grab the can of flabber gas and spray Barge in the face!" I yelled to him.
As my dad walked over to the flabber gas can, I managed to get Henry free for a bit.
"Pick it up," my dad told Jasper, who was just kicking around the can.
Barge had managed to grab Henry again and I made Henry elbow him as my dad bent down to pick up the can.
"Good! Good! Yes! Yes, pick it up!" My dad encouraged, but he was having trouble picking up the can. "Just pick up the can!"
"I'm trying!" Jasper cried.
"Jasper! What is wrong with you?!" My dad asked him with irritation.
That's a question for a later time.
Barge had managed to get Henry in a headlock and was choking him. I couldn't do anything except struggle in his grip.
"Starting to blackout here!" Henry cried.
"It's right there! Pick it up!" My dad demanded.
"Stop yelling at me!" Jasper exclaimed.
"Boy, if you could just pick up this can and spray Barge! You will be a superhero!" My dad explained to Jasper and I think something clicked in his brain after my dad said that.
Jasper gasped and everything became slow motion. I watched my dad slowly grab the can and lifted his arms up.
"Got it!" Jasper cheered.
"Great! Now get over here and spray Barge in the face!" I yelled to him as I elbowed Barge again and my dad pointed the can at Barge.
"Eat this!"
Instead of spraying Barge, my dad sprayed himself and yelled.
"Ah! Dang it!"
"Sorry!"
My dad flipped it around and pointed it at Barge the correct way.
"Nooooo!" I heard Barge yell out as my dad sprayed him and he fell to the floor, releasing Henry and I sighed with relief.
"Are you okay, baby?" I asked Henry, knowing he was almost choked to death.
"I'm great," he exhaled out of breath and looked at my dad. "Good job, buddy!"
"Victory dance!" Jasper said and made my dad do the Take The L dance.
"Ahhh!" My dad groaned and I giggled at him.
"I'm a superhero!" Jasper laughed.
Yes, yes you are, Jasper.
——
After this, Henry, Jasper, Charlotte, and I grabbed as many towels as we could and brought them to Henry's house so we can give his family some towels.
"Aw, man, it feels good to have my body back," Henry smiled and I gave him a grin.
"Didn't enjoy having your girlfriend control you?" I questioned him.
"I'm used to that everyday, princess," he remarked with a wink and I chuckled.
I'm not controlling, I just request food and want cuddles from him. Not a big deal.
"I'm a superhero!" Jasper beamed.
"Jasper, you've got to stop saying that," Charlotte mentioned to him.
"No, I don't!" Jasper denied, "I'm a superhero!"
"Just let him have this, because who knows when it will happen again," I remarked and she rolled her eyes with a smile.
Henry opened the door and we walked inside.
"Hey! We've got towels! Who needs towels?!" Henry announced and we see a group of damp people, and Piper was standing on the coffee table holding a towel in her hands.
"Free towels!" I call to them, lifting up my pile of towels.
"Wait, what?!" Piper asked, before the crowd of people crowded around us and took the towels from our hands, as Piper protested against this and tried to make it stop.
"Towel shortage is over people thanks to a superhero!" Jasper grinned.
"No, don't take these towels! You do not need them!" Piper objected.
Eventually, all the people had left with a towel and Piper was in defeat. Jasper and Charlotte walked away and Henry looped his arm around my neck as Piper turned to us.
"I almost had ten thousand dollars," she mentioned.
"Hey, dry your tears," Henry advised his sister, handing her the last towel and she just stared at him. Henry tossed the towel at her, before the two of us walked away.
Pretty weird day, but I'm glad I get to throw the towel in and call it a night.
