Chapter 10: Invisible
The waiter placed a plate and a small jug in front of us and Kaori's eyes shone with excitement.
"I always wanted to try this!!!" she said, happily.
After we escaped from Watari and Tsubaki, we decided to go to the café we went to when I was her replacement. She said she regretted that she couldn't order a chocolate ball because she didn't want me to think she eats a lot then.
Kaori began snapping pictures of the chocolate ball and she looked at me angrily.
"Why aren't you smiling?" she said. I was actually controlling my smile this whole time because she's make my heart race. I gave her a small smile and she quickly took a picture of me.
"HEY!!" I said, surprised.
She giggled and said, "I'm not going to delete this."
"Give it here!!" I stood from my place to take it from her.
"Shut up or people will think you're mad," she said, smiling.
I sat back on my seat and frowned.
"Take a video of me," she said, extending her hand with her phone in it.
"Ok," I said, taking the phone.
"And don't you dare delete the picture!"
I wonder why she wants my picture so badly?
I began recording and she asked, "Are you getting this?"
"Yep."
"Here I go!!" She took the small jug with hot melted chocolate and poured it on top of the ball, making it melt from the top to the bottom.
"WOAH!!" the both of us exclaimed at the sight.
The ball finished melting, revealing sponge cakes, ice cream and berries. My mouth began to water and I couldn't wait to dig in.
"Ithadakimasu," the both of us said, before eating it.
"WOOOOHHH!!!" Kaori said, eating a bit of the cake. "THIS IS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE!!!" She squealed and then she took my hand in hers, which made my heartbeat faster. "Thank you so much, Kousei," she said, smiling brightly.
I couldn't help but smile back at her. I ate a spoonful of the dish. My eyes went wide at the taste.
"Its awesome, right?" she asked, leaving my hand.
I nodded, happily and we began to eat.
"So," Kaori began. "What will we do next?"
"I don't know," I said. "You decide."
"I got my turn. Now, its yours," she said.
I thought for a while. Is there a place I didn't to go to but want to? I kept thinking that Kaori got the time to eat most of the desert.
"Hey!" I said, angrily.
"You snooze, you lose!" she said, laughing.
I sighed and my gaze went to the white piano, standing there with no one to play it.
Kaori turned to look at what I was looking at. "Oh, the happy piano," she said.
"Yeah," I said.
She turned to me and gave me an evil smile. "I know you wanna play it," she said.
"No, I don't."
"Yes, you do."
"No, I don't."
She pouted, sadly. "Then, I'm gonna play our song and make the people think this place is haunted."
"I said I don't wanna play," I said, calmly.
"Ok then," she said, standing up from her place and walking towards the piano.
She's not gonna play. I'm sure of it.
She looked at piano keys and looked at me, giving me a nervous smile.
"Which was C again?" she asked.
I sighed and got up from my seat. I walked to her and pointed it out.
"Hehe," she laughed nervously.
"Huh?"
"I don't remember anything," she said, avoiding eye contact. "Can you show me, please?"
"I know this is one of your tricks," I said.
"PLAY IT!!!" she said, angrily.
I don't know why, but I just smiled at began playing the song she calls 'our' song. I played it more faster and more precisely than how she played.
"Happy now?" I asked. But her reply was interrupted by the customers' applause.
I walked back to my seat after doing a small quick bow because it was really awkward and I didn't know what to do.
Kaori came and sat across me. "I still don't remember anything," she said.
I laughed. "Of course you won't," I said.
"Did you just call me dumb?!" she said, angrily.
I laughed harder. "I would say no, but it would be a lie."
She glared at me. "Don't make me beat you up in public!"
I rested my head on my hand, smiling and watched her eat happily. She's too beautiful.
"Have you decided yet?" she asked, her mouth filled.
"Decide what?" I asked.
She swallowed before speaking. "Where you wanna go next?"
"I guess," I said.
"Where is it?" she asked, her dark eyes shining with curiosity.
"You'll see."

Kaori's POV
Kousei and I closed our eyes, joined our hands together and prayed. We were in the cemetery and in front of his mother's grave.
We even bought two bouquets for her. But he only placed one for his mother, for some reason. Kousei looked sad and yet he gave me a small forced smile. I didn't smile back, knowing how much pain he has faced. Even my death has made him miserable and when I go again I'll make it even worse.
"Let's go," I said when he finished praying.
"No," he said, sadly. "Not yet."
He began to walk and I just trailed behind him. I guess he has another loved one he lost. He stopped walking and looked at the grave, not keeping the bouquet there. There were a lot of bouquets on that grave and the name of the person was covered because of it. Whoever it was might've been a really loved person.
I looked over to Kousei, who still hasn't kept the bouquet yet. I gave him a confused look and he just extended the bouquet to me but I didn't take it.
"Why are you giving this to me?" I asked, confused. "I don't know that person."
"Take it," he said, forcing smile.
I did as I was told and I kept it on the grave, along with the others.
"No 'thank you' for me?" he asked.
What is talking about?
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"It was for you," he said.
"Then, why didn't you tell me before? I already kept it there. I can't take it back now."
"You can take all of them because they're for you."
I paused and thought for a second, then that's when I realized....
"They're all for me," I said to myself, shocked.
My mind and body froze at that moment and I didn't even notice the tear sliding down my face. I couldn't believe this many people came to me even after I died. I began to cry, not because I was sad but because I was happy. I looked at all the beautiful bouquets that were kept for me and smiled brightly.
"Thank you," I said through my sobs.
"No problem," Kousei replied.
I wiped off the tears from my face and smiled at him.
"Let's go," I said, walking back to the place he parked his cycle.
We could see the sun setting from the orange sky as we went back home. It was beautiful and I felt safe and warm because of the atmosphere and also because of his presence. I rested my head on his back as he kept on riding the cycle and I smiled to myself, closing my eyes.
"Thank you so much for everything," I whispered.
I could hear his steady heartbeat and how it became a bit more faster when I thanked him.
"You perv," I said in a low voice, hitting his back gently.
He chuckled at my action and that made me smile. There was a comfortable silence between us. I don't know how it was comfortable but I liked it.
Just then, I remembered something and I opened my bag, which is actually kind of like a purse with a strap, took the note I wrote and read it.
'I lied to you the whole time when I was alive. -Kaori'
Should I? It's now or never. I opened his bag, slowly trying not to make a sound and when I was about to slip in the letter....
"What are you doing back there?" Kousei asked.
"Nothing!" I said quickly, lifting my head from his back. I cleared my throat. "Nothing."
He believed me and continued what he was doing. I sighed in relief and kept the note inside one of his books. I closed it quickly because we reached his house.
I gave him his bag and went inside, straight to my room's bathroom and locked the door.
I covered my mouth to block my scream as I leaned my back on the door. What have I done?! I actually wanted tell him about this ever since I missed the Gala performance.
"AHH!!!" I screamed, covering my mouth with my towel.
I took deep breathes to calm myself down and went back out. Besides, he's gonna know sooner or later because I am writing a sentence of the letter everyday. I wonder if he's reading it or not.
I walked back and saw Kousei sitting on the dining room, holding the paper with what I wrote on my letter.
I walked over to him, slowly and he had this small smile on his face.
"Why are you smiling?!" I said, trying to sound annoyed.
He shrugged, shaking his head. His smile was still there and he continued to reading it. I sat opposite to him and looked at the notebooks on the table.
Kousei kept the paper aside and smiled at me, trying to hold his laughter. I turned away and blushed. I wrote five sentences already and its really embarrassing since he can tell what his opinion is and all.
The sentences were:-
"It's weird writing a letter to someone who was just there with you. You're a terrible person.
A dunce. A blockhead. An idiot.
I first saw you perform when I was five.
It was at a recital at the piano school I was attending at that time."
I looked at Kousei from the corner of my eye.
"You went to a piano school and yet you don't even remember the C note," he said, laughing.
I laughed sarcastically. "I only learned for 5 months," I said.
"Why did you stop?" he asked.
My face to burn up. "I wanted to learn the violin," I said. I shortened the sentence because I don't want him to know that I switched to the violin to play with him yet.
"Thanks for the... compliments?" he said.
"Don't mention it," I said, smiling. I looked at his books. "Aren't you going to complete your notes?"
"Yeah, I didn't borrow any books from anyone," he said, smiling nervously. "I usually borrow books from Tsubaki, but I don't think she'll give me since exam seasons are coming up."
"If I was alive, I would've given you every single one of my books," I said, proudly, trying to sound better than Tsubaki.
"Sure you will," he said, not believing me.
"EHH!!!!" I said, shocked. "YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME?!"
Kousei began to laugh, hardly. He looked so.... happy and.... he is enjoying himself. He changed a lot from when I first him. My heart started to beat faster and couldn't even hold my smile.
"I'm joking," he said, panting for air as he smiled.
He took one of his book and opened it, revealing the note I kept inside. My eyes widened and I snatched the note from him and ran like my life depended on it.
"Hey! Give it back!!" he shouted, running behind me.
"No!" I said, closing the door to my room.
But he didn't let me. He pushing the door open while I was trying to push to close it. It was like a tug of war and unfortunately, my hands began to sweat for some reason. I put all my force into closing it but I fell on the floor, the note still in my hand.
Kousei's eye went wide in shock. "I'm sorry," he said, holding out a hand to help me get up.
I took his hand and got back to my feet. I gave him the note before he could take it from me. He read it and looked back at me,confused.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
I sighed. This is it. The moment of truth.
"I... I didn-," I was interrupted by the doorbell.
Kousei walked out telling me, "I'll listen later."
I gave him a fake smile and a nod before he left. I don't know what's gonna happen after tell him the truth. Will he reject me? Will he take it as a joke? Will he...
Accept me?
I shook the thoughts from my head and I heard a woman's voice and little kid's laughter. Who could it be?
I went to the door and I saw a young looking woman with black eyes and black hair with a strand of it falling over her eye. She was hugging Kousei, I guess that means she might be someone close to him. There was little kid with blonde hair wearing white shorts and a blue shirt.
The little girl was smiling at me which shocked me. Can she see me?! I walked to her and smiled. She looked scared and she hid behind the woman.
The woman broke her hug with Kousei. "Why are you hiding, Koharu?" she asked the kid.
The kid pointed at me, looking at me with a scared look.
"Why're you pointing at the wall?" Kousei asked the kid.
"What?" I said in low voice, shocked, unable to believe what Kousei just said. "Can you not see me anymore?"
He remained quiet and began to speak to the woman.
I felt like a thousand knives were stabbing me at my heart over and over again. Can he not see me anymore? Why now? I wanted to do a lot of things with him. I wanted to tell him a lot of things. My breathing became a bit uneven and quick that I felt like I'm about to pass out. Why?! I need more time with him! It can't end this way! I... what?
"Why are you crying?" Koharu asked, worried. I came back to my senses and found tears flowing down my face. I wiped them off, quickly as I ran to my room, closing the door behind me.
I froze on the spot and I fell on the floor, crying, covering my face with my hands. Why does this happen to me when I'm finally happy?! Back when I was alive, there hasn't been a day I haven't cried. I always used cried myself to sleep everyday and now I smile almost every minute of the day and now....... Kousei can't see me anymore. I didn't care if the others couldn't see me, but why Kousei?!
I think......
My lie is going to remain a lie from now on.
