Tryina kick me when I'm down

- One year -

Third Person's POV

It's their one year.

One year since the two united together as a couple, as best friends, and soulmates. One year. It seemed so far away a few months ago, and now it's come, hitting them both with full force. Jungkook doesn't have a clue as to what he should do for their anniversary, but Taehyung?

He's got everything planned out.

"Good morning, baby," He whispers, hugging his lover so tightly it hurts a bit. Jungkook hugs him back with just as much force, squeezing the life out of his boyfriend. "Happy one year anniversary, Taehyung." The blond smiles, wider than he ever has before.

"Happy one year, Jungkook." They stand up to hug properly, embracing each other, and just standing there, hugging in their dorm room for about five minutes. They part to shower, getting ready for their day. It's only eight in the morning, but their plans begin soon.

Taehyung has it all listed out in his mind, excitement bubbling up underneath his skin as he prepares himself for today. It'll be special, he says, Jungkook will love it. And so, twenty minutes later, they're bidding goodbye to their friends and heading out of headquarters.

Their first destination: the flower shop.

Jungkook doesn't fail to notice the brightly colored floral sign, painted just above the doors, and he already knows what Taehyung's thinking. He can't stop the smile that appears on his face as Taehyung leans over, kissing his lips and playing the music as he gets off the car.

Minutes later, he's walking out with a huge bouquet of orchids and a bouquet of roses. "I'm not sure which flowers you like, but I bought these." Jungkook smiles, taking them and placing them over his lap, leaning in to kiss the blond. And they meet, kissing passionately.

The next stop is breakfast at a restaurant they've been to before. Nothing special really happens, except for the surprise gift that Taehyung pulls out from his jean pocket. It's a gift card, that can be used at any store, and it holds one thousand dollars on it.

Jungkook's already emotional and the day just began.

The day is filled with laughter and joy, holding nothing but happiness. It's a warm summer day, with the sun beaming its warm glow down onto them, but it feels nice. They enjoy their day out at the pool for a while, swimming laps and having fun, preparing themselves for the night.

Because they both know that it's bound to be special.

And it is, because at six p.m., as the sun slowly sets, Taehyung drives them both back to the headquarters dorm. "Jin has instructed me to bring you up to his room," Taehyung says, opening the door for his lover and taking his hand. They walk up the stairs and to Jin's room, where Jimin sits on the bed with a huge smile.

"I'll see you in thirty minutes, my love." Taehyung bows, smiling from ear to ear and heading towards his and Jungkook's shared dorm. When he walks in, he's greeted by his brother, Namjoon, who's holding a black suit in his hands.

"You needed a suit, didn't you?" His boxy smile spreads across his face as he takes the suit, throwing it onto the bed, and hugging his brother tightly. Taehyung slips into the bathroom, changing into his suit, looking into the mirror.

Underneath the black, intricately detailed blazer is a white button-up. There's a bowtie around his neck and he pairs it with black slacks and dress shoes. His hair is fixed up by Namjoon, giving him a watch, some accessories, and the tickets. Taehyung takes it all with appreciation, carefully putting the tickets into his pocket.

He stares into the full-length mirror, checking out the way he looks, fixing the bowtie one last time. His wallet is in his other pocket, accompanied by his phone and his keys. Namjoon knows the restaurant they're going to, as well as the plans, which is why he's taking the time to set up the area.

It's 6:30 when Taehyung arrives at Jin's door, looking beside him to find Namjoon smiling, nodding as encouragement. He knocks twice, hearing the door handle twist open, and appears Jin, smiling at him with this look of awe. "You look handsome, Taehyungie." The blond can only smile, taking a deep breath.

But it's gone once Jungkook appears from behind Jin, shyly peeking his head over his eomma's shoulders, cheeks tinted with pink. Taehyung feels the air leave his lungs as he just stares, amazed at how his boyfriend looks. He's stunning, more so than he already was, and it shocks Taehyung.

Jungkook flashes a shy smile, stepping away from Jin and passing through the door. Taehyung, who's still shocked, clears his throat and shakes his head to snap himself out of the trance Jungkook put him into. "You-u... you look beautiful." Jungkook giggles, eyes sparkling under the lights.

"You look very handsome, my love," He says, pulling out a bouquet of tulips from behind his back- which Taehyung failed to notice- and hands it to the blond. "Just a little thank you, for you know, the ones you got for me today." Taehyung smiles, looking at the tulips, eyes beaming.

"They're gorgeous, thank you." They exchange a few more words before Taehyung extends his hand, properly asking Jungkook to join him for dinner. And that's how it leads to the pair arriving in front of a fancy restaurant, where CEOs and businessmen spend their evenings.

"Reservation for Kim," Taehyung says to the host, flashing a smile. The host nods, bowing as he grabs two menus, heading down the rows of tables for one at the very end, which is pressed against the wall. There's a large open area, where the waiters and waitresses pass carrying meals and drinks, and Taehyung couldn't be happier.

"This place looks awfully expensive," Jungkook pipes up, looking around at the fancy chandeliers, and expensive china. Taehyung smiles, kissing the back of Jungkook's hand like a gentleman. "Only the finest for you, my love. I haven't taken us out on a formal date in months," He responds, still smiling. "I think I owed it to you on this special night of ours."

Nonetheless, dinner passes quicker than the pair expects, and as they finish eating, Taehyung stands up. He excuses himself, calling over a waiter he's actually friends with, giving the signal as the lights dim. He's handed a microphone and the classical music fades until it's not there at all.

There's a reason he's grateful for the large open area.

Jungkook watches, eyes widening when Taehyung turns around, silver microphone in hand that sparkles under the light that shines down on him. Taehyung doesn't even say anything before the music plays, playing softly from the speakers all around them.

"When I am down, and, oh, my soul, so weary," Taehyung sings, his voice deep and hypnotizing, so much so that Jungkook is mesmerized by it. "When troubles come, and my heart burdened be," He continues, locking his gaze with Jungkook as he sings every lyric.

"Then, I am still, and wait here in the silence, until you come, and sit awhile with me." His voice is angelic, like angels singing from the heavens, and Jungkook's eyes grow watery as he listens. Taehyung smiles, taking a step closer to his boyfriend, hand outstretched.

"You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains. You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas. I am strong when I am on your shoulders." He pauses for a second, gripping the microphone a little harder, smiling just a little wider. "You raise me up to more than I can be."

Then, he stops as the music plays, mouthing a few words to Jungkook. When he raises the microphone again, his eyes close and his voice goes from deep to higher-pitched, something that genuinely surprises Jungkook.

"You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains. You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas. I am strong when I am on your shoulders." His voice is strong and oh so powerful, more so than Jungkook has ever heard it before. It leaves him breathless, eyes wide and tears subconsciously sliding down his pink cheeks.

Then, they lock gazes again. "You raise me up, to more than I can be," He sings, walking towards Jungkook, smiling from ear to ear and taking Jungkook's hand in his. They intertwine their fingers as Taehyung lowers his voice, singing softly into the microphone.

"You raise me up, to more than I can be."

The music fades away and applause fills the restaurant, especially from those around them. Jungkook's jumping out of the booth, wrapping his arms around Taehyung's broad shoulders, holding onto him. Taehyung barely has time to set the microphone down before he wraps his arms around Jungkook.

They hug for only a minute but it feels endless, whispering I love you over, and over, and over again. You'd think Taehyung would have just asked Jungkook to marry him, based upon the reaction he was given. However, that wasn't the case.

Not yet, at least.

So, when dinner finishes, they leave the restaurant and get into Taehyung's car again. Taehyung puts it into drive, heading down the street and towards a specific location that they've both grown extremely attached too. Taehyung spots Namjoon's car on the way there, waving at him through the window.

When they arrive, Taehyung can already spot the fairy lights that decorate the grass and the trees, along with the blankets set up with the Bluetooth speaker. Jungkook is jumping up and down when he steps out of the car, squealing like a teenage girl.

Taehyung laughs, taking his lover's hand as he guides him towards the blankets scattered across the grassy field, lit up by the battery-powered fairy lights around them. They sit, gazing into one another's eyes, as the stars rise above them.

"This past year has been amazing with you, Jungkook." Taehyung breaks the silence, taking a deep breath as his mind races so quickly and his heart is heard in his ears. "I'm so glad I met you," He says, whispering softly, caressing Jungkook's hand.

"You're my world and I don't know if I'd be where I am now without you. You're my life, my spirit, my soul. You're everything to me, Jungkook, and I can't wait to spend more years with you." Jungkook's eyes sparkle and tears brim in them, but he blinks them away before they can fall.

"You've changed my life, Taehyung," Jungkook says, voice laced with disbelief. It still feels like a dream. "You've changed it so much. I still remember entering the university, scared out of my mind, and dreading it. I remember our first baseball practice, first performance, first exam." He smiles.

"I got to experience all of that because of you. Without you, I'd be miserable. Yet you changed everything. You gave me what I thought was only to be in my dreams, and you made it all a reality." His tears finally fall and Taehyung can't hold himself back. He presses their lips together, turning off the fairy lights.

Fireflies dance around them, acting as the light they needed as the stars cover the sky above them. Taehyung pulls away, reaching into his pocket and staring at the tickets. He hands them to Jungkook, watching as Jungkook reads what's on them, eyes widening and jaw-dropping. "P-plane tickets? For next weekend?"

"Didn't you say you wanted to see the world with me, Jungkookie?" Taehyung asks, thumb caressing the skin of Jungkook's soft cheek, smiling fondly at the teen. Jungkook nods, more tears sliding down those porcelain cheeks of his, staining them.

"Then, our journey begins next weekend." Jungkook throws his arms over his boyfriend's shoulders, hugging him tightly and crying into his neck. Taehyung just holds him, hugging him in return, the pair enjoying one another's presence under the sky full of stars on this summer night.

They went through a lot in one year, but today marks the end of a chapter. The new one begins next weekend when they board that plane and head for their first stop in their world touring. They set sail on a new journey, one that begins outside of Korea.

"I love you," They whisper, clutching the tickets in their hands as they hug tightly, embracing one another. To their first stop and the beginning of their journey.

Australia.

I'm shedding tears 😭😭 I didn't expect to get emotional over this. One year down and several more to go.

Those time skips begin in the next chapter. As we near the end of the book, there's a lot more emotional moments coming up.

Thank you for this journey thus far!

I purple you 💜
