Chapter 3

Rey pinned her number to her leotard taking a set next to the dozens of other girls there to try out. She looked down at her number. 2187. Were there really that many people here?

Rey bounced her leg up and down nervously until her group audition. She grew more and more nervous as time went on. The group audition was only he first stage. Then there was solos and partner. And you only made it to those if you pass the other ones.

Rey glanced around the room. Men and women of all ages sat around waiting for their said audition time. Each of their eyes filled with worry. Some of them looked as if they were in the brink of a nervous breakdown. Rey looked back down at her hands and waited.

She only looked up when a door opened and in walk a tall man. Rey recognized him from some where. She looked at his warmups.

"Ah a First Order student," Rey mumbled to herself. "That's where I know him from."

The man dropped his bag next to Rey loudly causing her to jump slightly. Rey threw a nervous glance up at the man and quickly looked back down.

Kylo sat down next to the girl with the three buns in her hair instead of the traditional one. She seemed familiar. All to familiar. But the thought of knowing her quickly left his mind as one of the directors walked in.

"Alright. I need the 3:30 group to come in now. Leave you things here," the man said shortly quickly walking back into the audition room.

Kylo stood up as well as the girl beside him. E offered a quick nod of reassurance to her as the walked into the room. The girl relaxed at the gesture but quickly tightened up again as they ended the room.

Everyone lined up on the bars waiting for everyone to finish coming in. When the doors closed about 20 people filled the room. Boys took one half and girls the other. Kylo put his hands on the bar waiting for the first instructions.

"Hello and welcome to the auditions for Swan Lake. Here is how this audition will work. We will call out an instruction and you do it until we say stop or a new move. If you are tapped on the shoulder by one of us, you are dismissed. The people remaining at the end will continue on to the next stage," the man from earlier said while looking around the room.

Those auditioning glanced around at each other with nervous looks. Kylo continued to stand straight and Rey lifted her head up a little bit higher.

Soon the first instructions were called out. Everyone in the room stood at the bars completing the task gracefully holding their breath every time an instructor walked by.

Soon the moves became more difficult resulting in the first three people dismissed. More and more people began to leave the room. Kylo and Rey didn't seem to notice.

Rey finally breathed again after the instructor told them to stop.  She glanced around the room to see only six people left. Three boys and three girls.

"Now we will pair you up and you will complete several moves together."

Rey was pulled over and paired with the familiar man from earlier. "Hello. I'm Rey," she offered the man sticking out her hand.

"And I am Kylo," he said with a slight smile at the smaller girl shaking her outreaches hand. The two took their respective places and waited for the first instructions.

As instructions were called out, Rey and Kylo moved together with elegance. Every move they did was executed perfectly. The two looked as if they had been partners their whole careers.

Soon the audition came to a close. Rey and Kylo stepped apart slightly smiling at each other as a way of thanking them for not screwing up each other's chances.

The head instructor stepped out. "When I call you number please step forward and go give one of the other instructors your name."

Rey and Kylo watched as a blonde headed girl stepped out of the group.
"2651"
Kylo stepped towards the instructors at the sound of his number being called. Four people were left standing hoping their number would be called.
"2187"
Rey beamed as she stepped out of the group. She quickly walked over to the instructors giving them her name.
"2913"
A red haired man came out of the group leaving two people behind who were dismissed away from the rest.

"Congratulations you made it to the next audition level. At 6:30 be back here for you solo auditions."
