“You don't want to go to the party.” Harry said it in such a matter-of-fact voice that my eyebrow dipped in a quizzical way.
“Yeah, I doubt you do.” Zayn replied, never looking up from his phone. The two had plans to go to this birthday party for some famous British person. I had been there almost a week and not once had all the boys been at the same place at the same time. Between girlfriends, families, traveling, etc, they would hang out in groups of two – if even that. Usually one of them would kidnap me for the day and make me do things, which would usually then lead into me complaining about how I had to do things with them. It's the circle of life. (Great, now I'll have that song stuck in my head for years.)
“I’ll leave money for you so you can order pizza or something,” Harry offered, already reaching into his back pocket for his wallet. They spoiled me when I was here and they knew I hated converting American money into pounds. I usually ended up using my credit card for basically everything when I was here.
“Why don’t you ask me if I want to go instead of assuming I don’t want too.” I grumbled.
“Sorry, Al. Do you want to come to the party?” Zayn looked very excited when I spoke up, probably thinking I would suddenly agree to going.
“No, I’ll stay here and order a pizza.” I grinned before traipsing into the other room and falling onto the couch. I leaned over and grabbed my laptop off the coffee table. Netflix and pizza sounded like a perfect Friday night for me.
“Ugh, she’s such a brat.”
“I HEARD THAT HARRY.” I yelled.
“Yeah, I figured you would!”
Just as I was getting comfortable on the couch with season two of Revenge, the doorbell rang. I ignored it, figuring that it was one of Zayn or Harry’s friends who liked to show up out of nowhere. Sure enough, Zayn was the one to rush towards the door and started a conversation with a voice that belonged to a girl. They were talking loudly so I put on my headphones and clicked play.
Ten minutes into the episode, someone popped into my peripheral vision and I was surprised to see that it was a girl that I knew.
“Allison, why are you ignoring me? I’ve been yelling at you for five minutes now!” Trinity pouted once I had clicked pause. Of course right when it was getting good.
“Oops?” I grinned before looking at my volume level. “Maybe because it was on 78?”
“I’m just going to laugh when you go deaf. Now get your butt off the couch and give me a darn tootin’ hug already.” She yanked on my arm. I issued an annoyed groan before leaving my laptop on the couch and getting up. I gave her a quick pat on the head while she hugged me. Still wasn’t used to this whole ‘affection’ thing.
“I thought you were supposed to be gone this summer? Did Zayn lied to me? I will never understand why you agreed to date him.” I gave a pointed look to the kid who was had his hands in a “who me” position while shrugging his shoulders.
“He didn’t lie,” Trinity laughed. “I wasn’t supposed to come back until the start of the semester for school, but my parents decided to go on a Hawaiian cruise and didn’t invite me along. I’d rather be here than all alone in the empty house.”
“You know something I don’t understand?” I questioned as we stood around in a circle. No one made a move to sit down or anything, so I took the first step and collapsed onto the couch.
“What don’t you understand, Al?” Harry asked in an annoying therapist-type voice.
“She doesn’t understand much,” Zayn took a jab at me but smiled widely. Jerk.
“Trinity’s parents let her come here without a fuss and my mom practically forced me onto the plane. How are parents so okay with sending their girls to a guy’s house?”
“Well my parents have met Zayn. Plus I’m here for school which is basically the same as your mom sending you off to college without freaking out about not knowing everyone there.” Trinity reasoned.
“Apparently all worries for children are thrown out the window when popstars are involved. Now, aren’t you two leaving for that party? I’m looking forward to bingeing on Revenge and pizza. Please tell me you’re going with them, Trin.” I sighed as I looked longingly at the closed laptop and Dominoes menu.
“Yes, I am.” Trinity nodded and I grinned happily until she grabbed my arm. “And you are too.”
“If you all were ants, I wouldn’t hesitate stepping on you.” I grumbled.
