redemption ?
Person A used to be a very respected jujutsu sorcerer before they got sick of protecting others that didn't care about them. They turned into a curse user, and got into the jujutsu underworld where they took jobs to get extra money, since those jobs just seemed more fun to them. When people found out what they were doing they were banished and shunned from jujutsu society. Person B was ((insert relationship status)) to Person A. They couldn't help but look at Person A differently when they found out. But years later a huge threat comes up, and Person B knows that Person A could help them greatly so they contact them and ask for help as a last resort. 
((threat could be Geto and they ask Person A to become a teacher since they need to teach stronger sorcerers to defeat him and the curses))

scenario 2:
reform program
Both jujutsu schools have a new reform program for sorcerers who have no choice but to attend after they got captured. It was either that or be executed so most took the reform route. Person A was a curse user captured during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons. They were given two choices and they picked the reform route instead of the execution route. From their first day of one of the jujustu high schools it was obvious that they were going to be trouble. Person B was a student at one of the jujustu schools and was tasked with being Person A's mentor of how to use their technique for good, and maybe play a part of trying to change their morals. But at the same time Person A might do the same, trying to get Person B to see things their way and change their morals.

scenario 3:
revenge ?
Person A was wrongly accused of being a curse user after being set up by someone else. Without question they are supposed to be executed but escape. While they are in hiding they think about the jujutsu society and the morals that they have, and think about their own. In the end they become a curse user when they find new morals that slightly aline with Geto's. They want revenge and plan to take it when they least expect it. Person B had been fighting for Person A's innocent since it happened but they couldn't do anything about it. Now that Person A was gone they did their best just to move on. Until when they were on a solo mission by themselves to capture or kill a curse user that had been causing trouble was assumed to be lower rank they run into Person A instead.
