This is a one-shot I've written at CrossoverMaster's request. It's basically just what happened to Ford for all of the time he was in the portal. It's all canon, this is what was written in his journal. I've worked on it for a few days, and I hope you guys like it. :D
"Stanley! Stanley, help me!" I cry frantically as the portal pulls me off the ground, leaving me floating in mid-air.
"Oh no, what do I do?!" He stands still, watching in horror as I get pulled closer and closer to the blue light.
"Stanley! Stanley!" I howl again, before I'm sucked into the machine, leaving me stranded in an endless expanse of soft blue light. This is it, it's over.. I tell myself as I curl up into a ball, waiting for something to happen. I have no clue about what to expect. When the gentle blue light subsides minutes later, I wish it would return, because the sight before me is much, much more horrific. The noxious air is full of colourful swirls of blood red, magenta, green, yellow, and countless other colours I can't even name. The howls of demons and tormented souls echo all around me, and a giant asteroid belt loops around and around aimlessly, occasionally hurling a giant rock at some unsuspecting monster.
I know, without a doubt, that I'm in the Nightmare Realm, also known as the home court of Bill Cipher. I feel my throat start to close up as I begin to panic.
"LOOK WHO DECIDED TO PAY ME A VISIT..!" A shrill, voice rings out from behind me. Fearing for my life, I whip around in the acidic, gravity-free air. Speak of the devil. Cipher is a mere fifteen feet away from me, sneering at me from atop his throne. (I might add that looking at the throne makes me lose my focus, not to mention dizzies me. It seems to be made of undulating optical illusions!) Next to him sit many beasts of all shapes and sizes, but they are shrouded in shadows.
"CARE FOR A GAME OF INTERGALACTIC CHESS?" He booms, watching me hungrily. "THIS TIME, YOU'RE THE PAWN!" He laughs maniacally and snaps his fingers, sending a gargantuan beast made of mostly fingers and teeth bolting out of the shadows towards me. I can barely swim through the the air into the safety of the asteroid belt before the monstrosity catches up with me. Not a moment later, I can hear snuffling and growls from multiple other freaks of nature. There are several of them swooping and diving between the meteors, searching for me. Seeing a small cave on one of the large rocks, I make my way towards it, intending to hide out there. Seconds later, I'm safe.... or as safe as I can be in what is pretty much Hell.
"SIXER WANTS TO PLAY HIDE-AND-SEEK!" I hear Bill howl in the distance. "FIRST ONE TO FIND HIM GETS THEIR OWN GALAXY." He promises, and the noises of rabid creatures resume. Bill's taunting brings back all the horrible memories I have that feature him, and I get angry. Livid, in fact. This triangle has taken everything from me. He made me trust him, then tricked me, and now he wants to toy with my mind some more. Well, I've had enough. I'm about to turn myself in and attack him when I hear a noise behind me. A glow is coming from deep within my little cave. I follow it, and come across a purple campfire, surrounded by four shivering creatures. They greet me and tell me that they are stuck in here just like me. In return I tell them about Bill wanting me captured. His name has barely passed my lips when all four of the refugees shrink back in fear, three of them screaming.
"What, what?" I ask softly, trying to calm them down. A small, furry animal dressed like a pirate slowly returns to his regular posture.
"You said... B-Bill." He then pulls on his ears in fear, shaking himself. "He is one of the most feared beings in the multiverse!" The creature shudders.
"And for good reason!" Another refugee, this one a tiny little pig-looking thing, throws in. "He took over this Realm as a hangout for him and his friends. This place is completely lawless, there are no rules." Something in the tone of the animal's voice makes me think that there's something else at play here.
"But, he likes that kind of thing, doesn't he?" I inquire, confused. I know from experience that Bill hates rules or restrictions of any kind. The four animalistic beings exchange glances.
"Well, normally, yes. But this dimension has zero physics, or laws of science, and so it is going to implode on itself someday. It's unavoidable." The little furry guy replies. "And so he wants to take over a new dimension." Upon hearing this, I explain to my new companions my own history with Bill, but I make it brief, ending with this morning and me being sucked into the portal.
"I brought him into existence in my dimension, and I have to take him out." I finish with a steely determination.
"Well, good luck with that." An alien with large black eyes regards me with pity. "But, before you go.." She reaches into an oddly shaped bag sitting at her side, and pulls out some objects.
"This is a dimensional translator." She hands me what looks like a high-tech watch, along with some food and water. "You can use the translator in any dimension, and you'll be able to communicate with the natives." I nod and take it.
"Thank you." Then another thought occurs to me. "What are the chances I'll be able to ever go home?" Everyone sighs quietly, and my face falls. "Not good?" I get four shaking heads in response, and then I myself sigh. "Alright. Thank you all for your help." I nod to the creatures. "I'm going to defeat Bill." I accidentally say his name out loud, causing my companions to yelp. "Oh- sorry."
"But I'm going to do it. No matter what or how long it takes, you one day will not have to endure his wrath." The creatures' moods visibly lift, and one of them cheers "Praise the Axolotl!", then the rest pick up the line. I thank them one last time before taking off towards a wormhole to start dimension hopping. And so my quest to save the multiverse from Bill Cipher begins.
It's now been many years, and for the last three decades, I've gone from dimension to dimension, gathering supplies to build a weapon that is strong enough to defeat Bill. I've seen and done so many amazing things, including learning thirteen languages, travel with bandits and other criminals, get into a fight with a talking chair, and get tattoos that I now regret avidly. I've even managed to do some learning as of late, studying old scrolls and texts and chatting with renowned interdimensional scholars.
Some of the dimensions were pretty amazing amazing, but others weren't so great. Such as the "M" Dimension.. I nearly committed muicide in that place. There was one dimension that was based entirely on the idea of chance (essentially it was a gambling dimension- Stanley would have loved it.), and one where you could relive your whole life, over and over again! But the dimension I recall the most vividly is Dimension 52. I'll never forget that place as long as I live.
I'd accidentally hopped right into a two-dimensional world. Having a three-dimensional body, this did not go over well with the locals, who were all shapes. They considered me an irregular shape, the worst thing in their society, and began to attack me. You'd think it wouldn't be very bad, but their sides were razor sharp! Several hundred of them were slicing up my face when a portal suddenly appeared, sucking me out of the two-dimensional world, and I blacked out from blood loss. When I awoke, I was in a brand new dimension and in the company of a seven-eyed creature named The Oracle. She was very kind, and had tended the wounds on my face.
"Thank you." I'd said gratefully. She simply smiled and nodded, so I continued. "My name is Stanford, and I'm on a mission to stop Bill Cipher." The Oracle nodded again, finally responding verbally.
"Yes. I know. I also know that you are in no way ready to face him."
"What? I'm not?" I'd asked, slightly disappointed, and she shook her head.
"No. But, I can help you."
"You can?"
"Yes. To be able to defeat him, you must first protect your mind."
"M-my mind?" She nodded yet again.
"Yes. I can install a metal plate in your skull, if you'd like? The surgery would be dangerous, but I'm quite experienced." I'm not quite sure why, but I agreed. Once the plate was installed, The Oracle told me everything she knew about the triangular monster as I recovered from the surgery.
"Bill is from a dimension much like the one you were injured in. He'd always had an unquenchable thirst for power, and so he destroyed his own dimension, along with his friends, family, and parents- everyone he'd ever known." The Oracle's eyes grew sad as her tale continues. "He began to go around the multiverse, taking over as many dimensions as he possibly could." For a moment, there was only silence between us, until she looked into my eyes, and whispered "You have the face of a man destined to defeat Bill." That night we celebrated by throwing a party and drinking Cosmic Sand. The next day, I had to keep moving. The next dimensions I went through were all parallels of my own. They were virtually the same, but with some huge differences, such as who occupied the dimension. But today I've come across a dimension exactly like my own, except for a few key differences-
I'd never been pushed into the portal in this world.
Stanley listened to me when we met up, taking Journal 1 far, far away.
I had listened when Fiddleford had tried to talk some sense into me.
Ultimately, I'd completed my research and become a world famous scientist in this dimension.
By the time I reached this dimension, my once tiny cabin in the woods had been transformed into an Institute of Science!
It's heartbreaking for me to see what could've been, and I can't help but want to take a closer look. Just as I'm about to go inside the building, I run into parallel Fiddleford!
"Fiddleford!" I exclaim happily. He immediately knows that I shouldn't be here, and he backs away slightly, calling for security. "Hey!" I yell angrily as I'm tackled by two large guards.
"Where do you want him taken, Mr. McGucket?" One of them asks. I try to kick them, twisting around in their grasp to try and escape, but I can't.
"Umm.. Follow me." Fiddleford leads the way to a secluded office, nodding to the door. The guards shove me inside hard, so I stumble. Fiddleford quickly locks himself inside with me, leaving the guards outside.
"Hey, what is going on?!" I growl, rubbing my arms where the two large men were holding tightly. "Fiddleford, why would you do this?!" I ask furiously, a little hurt. I start packing the room frustratedly. Fiddleford just watches me, not saying a word until I've exhausted myself.
"I'm sorry, Stanford. I had to do this. Do you know what would happen if you ran into the Stanford from this dimension?" I pause in my pacing, thinking about it.
"Not exactly, no.."
"This entire dimension would start to warp and fizz. That happened a few years ago, in another dimension. Two of the same men from different dimensions made contact, and the dimension began to fold in on itself. It's not around at all anymore, and neither are the two guys." Embarrassed and slightly shocked, I stare at the ground.
"Sorry about that." As amazing as it would be to bask in Parallel Stanford's success, I know I can't do that. There's no place for me in this world, and my promise to destroy Bill still stands. With a sigh, I remember how close I am to completing my Quantum Destabilizer, how I'm stuck on the final parts of its construction. Maybe McGucket can help me with that. "Hey, Fiddleford? Would you be able to help me with something?" My parallel self's assistant raises an eyebrow quizzically.
"I've got this incomplete weapon, and I can't figure out how to finish its design. You know of Bill Cipher, don't you?" He nods. "It's supposed to be able to take him out."
"Well, of course I'll help ya!" Fiddleford is beaming from ear to ear. We spend the rest of the day working on my death ray, even adding an element called NowUSeeitNowUDontium (discovered by Fiddleford himself) as the power source. At the end of our work session, he holds out a hand to shake, and I take it.
"It's been an honour." He smiles.
"Same to you!" I reply with a smile of my own. "Thank you, Fiddleford."
"Don't mention it. You can do this, buddy. Make that demon rue the day he thought he could outsmart Stanford Pines." I smile larger as he pats me on the back, bidding me goodbye.
"Don't worry, I will. Goodbye, old friend."
"Goodbye." With his last word still fresh in my ears, I leap into a wormhole that I know will take me directly into the Nightmare Realm.
"GET HIM!" There is no time to get my bearings, because Bill Cipher sees me immediately upon my entrance to his realm. Several demons and monsters come at me at once, and I waste not a second in using my Quantum Destabilizer. However, the best that my weapon can do against these monsters is stun them for a while, as it is meant specifically to destroy Bill Cipher. Eventually every sidekick of his has been blasted, and they are temporarily out of commission. Upon seeing this, Bill Cipher flees into his admittedly formidable fortress he calls the Quadrangle of Qonfusion. I only have a few minutes at best before Bill's henchmen are back, and this will probably be my only chance to take the demon out. But there's a problem- I have no idea how the architecture of the Quadrangle works! It'll take hours for me to figure it out!
But suddenly I remember what those creatures said to me inside the asteroid belt almost thirty years ago: This place is completely lawless, there are no rules.
With my confidence renewed, I lunge at Bill, prepared to deliver the blow that will hopefully kill him after such a long reign of terror. As I'm flying through the air, though, the entire dimension began to shake. A giant tear opens up inside the Nightmare Realm, and it takes me a second to figure out what has happened- the portal has been restarted! Beside me, Cipher is laughing so hard he can hardly move, but the other demons have woken up and are starting to move towards the portal- if they get inside, they will take over my dimension. I can't let that happen! Running along the edge of the Quadrangle, I jump as far as I can and land between the monsters and the portal, simultaneously throwing a grenade behind me. The blast serves two purposes- the first, it blows the monsters back, safely away from my world, and the second, it propels me through the wormhole and back into my home dimension: 46'\.
Only as I'm shot back into the portal towards my home do I feel the intense rage and frustration at losing my one chance to take down Bill Cipher. Whoever has cost me my victory is going to pay dearly.
When the dust finally clears, I see who has rescued me from the multiverse: Stanley Pines. My twin brother.
There you have it. In my own words, what happened to Ford on the other side of the portal. That took longer than it probably should have.. But hey, I'm proud of the end result. By the way, I missed a code in binary:
"C". That's it... Maybe there are a whole bunch of letters in binary across the book that spell something out?!? I'll investigate it later, perhaps after I've finished with the symbol decryptions?
