Chapter 2
I could hear arguing downstairs before Gee started crying. I sighed and went down, picking him up.
"What's happening?" I asked.
"I wanna walk Miles to the bus!" Gee cried.
"I don't need someone to walk me to the bus, I'm eleven," Miles said.
"Miles, let him walk you to the bus, he's your big brother," I said.
He pouted unhappily, crossing his arms.
"Go grab a granola bar or something," I said.
Miles grumbled and walked into the kitchen. I carried Gee upstairs to the twins' room.
"Come on, girls, time to get up for school," I said.
I turned on the light and set Gee down. The girls both whined unhappily and I got them both up and on their feet to the bathroom to brush their teeth.
"What do you wanna wear?" I asked as I brushed Lily's hair.
Neither of them really answered and I sighed. I put Lily into a pink dress with black leggings underneath. Cherry wanted to wear a shirt with cats on it and a pair of pink leggings with flowers on them. I brought them downstairs while Gee followed close behind.
"Daddy, can I walk with Miles?" Gee asked.
"Of course you can," I said.
"Miles don't like me," he said sadly.
"Of course he loves you," I said as the girls hurried off to get food. "He's just going through something where he gets angry a lot and he doesn't mean to get angry, he loves you."
I took him to the kitchen where Jamia was making lunches and cereal.
"No, I don't want a packed lunch," miles complained. "Only losers bring packed lunches. I wanna buy the pizza."
"You can't have pizza everyday," Jamia said. "Eat your cereal, you have five minutes."
She put his lunch into his Spider-Man lunch box that he resented because he said it was for babies. Gee walked out with Miles. I looked at the window and watched as Gee kept trying to hold Miles' hand but Miles kept pulling his hand away. The big, yellow school bus pulled up and Miles got on. The bus driver waved to Gee and the small boy waved back happily before running back inside.
"Alright, cutie, time for you to get some food in your tummy," I said.
He walked over to the kitchen and sat at the table. Jamia got him a bowl of cereal and they all ate happily. Soon the girls had to go and we all walked with them to the bus stop. I gave them both hugs and kisses before they hopped onto the bus. Gee waved at them through the window of the bus before it drove off.
"Now it's Daddy and Mommy time!" Gee cheered happily.
This was one of Gerard's favorite times of day because he got to spend time with me and Jamia all alone. He does have a tutor that he goes to see a couple times a week but she's a little busy and can't see him everyday like a normal school kid.
"Daddy, I wanna play outside," Gee said.
"Alright, stay in the backyard," I said.
He nodded and went out to play on the playset in the fenced in yard. I sighed, sitting down on the couch with Jamia, giving her a soft kiss. Jamia and I didn't get a lot of alone time together being the parents of four kids.
"So, I was gonna go out for my sister for lunch," Jamia said.
"Yeah?" I asked. "Where are you heading?"
"Just to that cafe down the street," she said. "And I was thinking about bringing Gee too so you can have some alone time to work on your album."
"That sounds great," I said. "I've only got a couple songs done."
"I bet they're gonna be great," she said.
"Yeah well you're my wife, you have to say it's good," I said.
"It is," she said.
"Gee says it's bad and Gee doesn't know how to lie," I said.
"Gee thinks everything is bad," she said. "The only music he likes is the intro song to the Teletubbies."
I snorted, nodding my head. The backdoor opened and Gee looked at us nervously as he poked his head into the room.
"What's wrong, Princess?" Jamia asked.
"Y-you're mad at me," he cried.
"No, why would we be mad?" I asked.
Gee slowly stepped out and I frowned as I looked him over. He looked completely normal.
"What?" I asked.
Gee sniffled and crawled into my lap, pointing to his knee. I found that he had ripped a hole in the knee of his pajama pants, a tiny little hole smaller than my pinky nail.
"Baby, it's okay," I said.
"B-but I ruined them," he whimpered.
"No you didn't," I said. "It's just a little hole."
Jamia wipes his eyes and kissed his forehead.
"Let's go give you a bath, you wanna go out to eat with me and Auntie Ashley?" Jamia asked.
"Is Daddy going?" He asked and Jamia shook his head. "Can I bring Sebby then?"
"Yeah, of course," she said. "Now come on, we need to clean your stinky hair."
Gee giggled, taking Jamia's hand to pull her up the stairs. I sighed, stretching on the couch. My stomach growled and I went to the kitchen, pouring myself a bowl of cereal. I heard the bath running upstairs. Gee still hated showers, he thinks it's scary because it's raining inside and it's not supposed to rain inside.
I chuckled softly at the memory of the first time I tried to give him a shower. He screamed and cried and hid under my bed butt naked. But he likes baths, he loves bath time.
When I finished eating I did all of the kids' dishes from breakfast. I got dressed into just a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt before heading down to the basement where I had my own little music studio kind of thing. I sighed, sitting down on one of the chairs where I picked up my notebook to my barely started song. I was having a bit of a music block, I couldn't find anything and the simplest things I do, I hate.
"Daddy, which dress do you like?" Gee asked, walking downstairs in his panties with two dresses.
I smiled, looking at the plain pink dress and then the blue dress with a bow on it.
"I think the blue one would look pretty on you," I said.
Gee smiled and I helped him put the dress on.
"There we go, pretty princess," I said.
"I wanna wear my tiara," he said.
"That's fine, you can go wear your tiara, just make sure that you don't lose it," I said.
He giggled happily and gave me a hug.
"I love you, Daddy," he said.
"I love you too," I replied. "Now let's go find mommy."
Jamia was waiting by the door, already dressed in a soft blue dress with white polka dots, a white cardigan over it.
"You look so cute," I said, giving her a kiss.
"Ew!" Gee squealed, covering his eyes.
"You're such a cutie," I said, running my fingers through his hair.
He pouted when I tilted his tiara.
"I love you, cutie," I said.
"Gee, let's get going, we'll get you a cookie," Jamia said.
Gee clapped his hands excitedly
"We will see you in a little bit, Babe," Jamia said.
I smiled, kissing her cheek. I waved goodbye from the window. I went down to my mini studio in the basement and grabbed my special notebook. Song writing was hard and it really didn't help with four squabbling kids. And, as much as I love him, Gee is an absolute handful not only with how active he is but also because of the special medical care he needs.
"Alright, Frank, you can do this," I muttered to myself. "It's just a song, it can't be too hard."
I was working on a song that has yet to be named. I wasn't sure exactly how it was going so far but the beginning melody seemed to be working out pretty well. It was the bridge I was stuck on. That damn bridge.
I didn't get much time to work before I heard a school bus roll to a stop outside and the front door opened. Miles' familiar footsteps sounded over my head before coming down the stairs.
"Dad, can we get pizza?" he asked.
"Sure, I'll order some in a minute," I said.
"Alright," he said. "Where's Gee and Jamia?"
"Your mom and Gee went out for lunch," I said. "Stop calling her Jamia, Miles."
"She's not my mom," he stated.
"She is, Miles, she was here for you, she raised you," I said. "And you can drop your attitude otherwise you won't get to play video games."
Miles rolled his eyes and I scowled.
"Do that again and you're grounded," I said.
Miles turned and left and I sighed before ordering a pizza. I went up and put on some shoes, standing by the curb. The bright yellow school bus come over and my daughters hopped off excitedly. They both tackled me into a hug and I gave them kisses.
"Oh, I missed you guys," I said. "How was school?"
"I colored a picture for you!" Cherry exclaimed.
I held both their hands as we walked inside. Cherry showed me her drawing of her with her siblings.
"This is beautiful, Cherry," I said, sticking it up to the fridge with a smiley faced magnet.
"Daddy, can I watch tv?" Lily asked.
"Only for a bit," I said.
She climbed up onto the couch and switched on the screen. When pizza came I paid for it and the kids immediately went to town on it. Good thing Gee wasn't here, he loves food so much.
"Where's Mommy?" Cherry asked.
"She went out with Gee but she should be home soon," I said.
She nodded but seemed a little disappointed as she crawled onto the couch with Lily and her pizza. The door opened and Gee ran in, wrapping his arms around me.
"Hey, baby boy, did you have fun?" I asked.
He nodded, kissing my cheek.
"Come on, let's go cuddle," I said.
I sat on the couch, smiling as I cuddled up with the twins and Gee. My life really couldn't be more perfect.
